Biography:   I guess you could say that I owe what my life is today to J.R.R. Tolkien. It was after reading The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings at the age of fifteen, that I was introduced to him and to his friend C.S. Lewis in their books. This led to my becoming a Christian, and ending up at a Christian college, where I met my husband. Although he claims to have had his eye on me for a while, my interest in him was not piqued until I saw him with his copy of LOTR; on our first date he took me to a bookstore, and his first gift to me was the green hardback of The Hobbit. When I opened it, it fell open to "Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire" and I knew my fate was sealed. After more than 35 years, when people ask what attracted me, my answer is still "His taste in books". Although my love for Tolkien never went away, it was renewed and rekindled by the recent films, and by the discovery of a world of fellow Tolkien enthusiasts on the internet. Finding fanfiction was a revelation to me, and it is so nice to have new tales of Middle Earth.
