Tolkien quote of the day:

The Land of Valinor slopes downward from the feet of the Mountains, and its western shore is at the level of the bottoms of the inner seas. And not far thence, as has been said, are the Walls of the World; and over against the westermmost shore in the midst of Valinor is Ando Lomen the Door of Timeless Night that pierceth the Walls and opens upon the Void. For the World is set amid Kuma, the Void, the Night without form or time. But none can pass the chasm and the belt of Vaiya and come to that Door, save the great Valar only. And they made that Door when Melkor was overcome and put forth into the Outer Dark; and it is guarded by Earendel.

*A star as bright as Frodo Baggins should not be taken from this world without leaving something of himself behind.* ----- As long as I could remember, it has always struck me as the greatest tragedy of the LOTRs that neither Frodo nor Bilbo, the two most exceptional hobbits of the Shire, ever had an heir. I know many people have written stories like this, but this is my take on how Frodo might have left a part of himself behind in Middle Earth. AU, though does not contradict canon, OC,

Between Moria and Lórien, Legolas and Aragorn help Frodo through the shock of Gandalf's death. The healing doesn't stop there, however, as before the group reaches Lórien, bonding and healing have taken place throughout the Fellowship, in quite unexpected ways. (AU, in that the distance between Moria and Lórien is slightly greater than in canon, and, as the story begins, neither Frodo nor Sam were hurt in Moria; therefore, the mithril shirt is still a secret.)
