Hi. I live in the Southwestern desert of the U.S. and have done so all my life. I've been a fan of the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings since an observant and dedicated English teacher suggested I read The Hobbit in 7th grade. Not ever having heard of such a thing as fanfiction, and the internet not yet existing, since I'm rather older than many here, I wrote LotR-inspired stories and poems in a notebook given to me by my mother. It was and is one of my most cherished possessions, though the earliest things written in it bear the brunt of my young age.
I came to the world of online fanfiction through another fandom, but my daughter introduced me to the world of LotR fanfiction by sharing with me stories written by some of her favorite authors, and I was hooked. To have such a place to read, write, share and discuss a work of such wonderful depth and scope and ambition is more than I ever thought possible.
I don't write too much now, but will occasionally add something. I am amazed at the quality of many of the works I've read, and I am quite critical of my own work so it's hard for me to post anything that I don't believe measures up. Because of my own critical views of my works, reviews and viewpoints of those who choose to read are greatly appreciated. If you like it, I'd love to hear that! If you don't like it, please tell me why though kindness is appreciated. I may disagree with what you think should be changed, but then again, I may have issues with that same thing, and your suggestion could be just what I need to make it better. Gentle criticism is always welcomed. |
