An Unexpected Adventure [IN HIATUS]  by KathyG 332 Review(s)

that is the second time you have called children young goats

*giggles*

It's lovely to imagine the King visiting children, and helping with their healing.

Author Reply: Isn't it, though?

So many of our slang terms would definitely sound odd in other time periods! Or in fantasy worlds. =)

"Well, just in case.” She bowed her head again. “Anyone else I forgot.

That's adorable.

Author Reply: Yes, it is, isn't it? =) K.G.

How wonderful to see this continued at last! And thank you for mentioning Vandamir, Dreamflower. It's lovely to see him again.

I loved seeing Menelcar again, and learning he was inspired to reunite with his own family after his adventures with Pippin in the Shire. Great inspiration!

And can appreciate Joey's willingness to get out of the Citadel while Pippin gets the violin in tune. Few things are harder on the ear than a screeching instrument far out of tune.

So glad you've recovered from the pneumonia, Dreamflower. God bless you as you continue to adjust to your mother's loss, Kathy. Love to both of you now.

Author Reply: Thanks, Larner. I'm glad you're enjoying this.

Can't blame Joey for wanting to get out while the getting was good! =)

Have you ever read Dreamflower's "Chance Encounter"? In that story, Menelcar explains his reunion with his family.

What a shock and delight it must have been for Menelcar to hear 'Frodo of the Nine-Fingers'!

He leaned over to Frodo. "I think I’ll go now," he said quietly.

Frodo grinned back at him. "You aren't his cousin; feel free to escape, lad, while you can.

That's fun exchange. My best wishes and love to you both, Kathy and Dreamflower!

Author Reply: Yeah, it is a fun exchange, isn't it? =) And I'm sure you're right about Menelcar.

My best wishes to you, too! K.G.

I am so glad to see Meneclar join the group. And I hope both of you are indeed doing better.

Author Reply: Thanks, Sharonb. We are, I'm glad to say. And I'm glad that Menelcar has joined the group, too! K.G.

Kathy,

I am so sorry for your loss. Even when you are expecting it, it is still never easy. Much love I send your way. She will always be in your heart, where My dad resides in my mine!

Thank you Dreamflower for letting us all know.

Many, many (((hugs)))

MM

Author Reply: Thank you, Mirkwoodmaiden. My sister and I do have good memories of our mother, memories that we'll carry for the rest of our lives. You have good memories of your dad, don't you? K.G.

Ah, so Faramir takes his place as Steward after all - I have been enjoying this story as it unfolds, I regret my lack of reviews. I promise it is no reflection on either of you or your story! But I am glad the McClouds have reunited and are able to see this wondrous coronation, and I hope that all will be well with them here, and when (if?) they go back to their own world.

Kathy, I am so very sorry about your mother's passing. I am keeping you in my prayers. Thank you, Dreamflower, for letting all of us know.

*hugs you both*

Kaylee

Author Reply: Thanks, Kaylee. That means a lot. And I'm glad you're still reading our story.

Yep, Faramir becomes Steward, but not in the awful conditions he does in canon, thank goodness.

It's wonderful that the entire McCloud family has gotten to watch Aragorn's coronation, and that they have been reunited.

So is much set right for this day. And Faramir follows his father as Steward in keeping with the original. Nicely done!

I grieve with you, Kathy, for the loss of your mother. I still feel mine at times at my shoulder, and I think you will find it similarly. God bless, keep, and comfort you and all who miss your mother's bodily presence.

Author Reply: Thanks, Larner. We had known for a long time that that day was coming, and when we learned that Mama's body had begun the dying process, we knew it was near. But knowing that the death of a loved one is approaching doesn't adequately prepare one for the moment when it arrives.

Yes, the circumstances in which Faramir becomes Steward are so much better than they are in canon, be it book-verse or movie-verse. And with that said, for the McClouds, reading The Lord of the Rings is going to be an awful lot like watching It's a Wonderful Life. Halbarad dies because there is no Kaylee to give him a stone in a pouch as a present. Boromir dies, with all the terrible consequences that result, because Joey's not around to use a slingshot to stop the orc. And so on. K.G.

I'm so very sorry, KathyG. {{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}

Thanks for letting us know, Dreamflower.

I just finished a long day of work, and it's 2 a.m. for all practical purposes, so I will savor this chapter tomorrow.

Author Reply: Thanks, Lindelea. Mama is still with us, but we don't know how much longer that will be the case. A nurse's aide is coming to tend her three times a week, and a regular nurse is coming twice a week, to see how she's doing.

Hope you enjoy the chapter tomorrow! K.G.

I am sorry to hear of KathyG's Mother. The illness of a loved one is very difficult to bear. I send my prayers and good wishes to her mother and to KathyG. I would, also, like to say that I have been enjoying your story. It lifts my spirits with each new chapter. This is one gift that we can give to each other these days.

Thank you,
Arasinda

Author Reply: Thanks, Arasinda. That means a lot to me. Thankfully, my mother's vital signs are still good at present; however, she's too weak to get out of bed. The hospice nurse is coming to see her three times a week.

I'm glad you're enjoying this story, and I know Dreamflower is, too. When I'm able to get back to work on it, we'll resume posting new chapters when the time is right. K.G.

Author Reply: To be precise, a nurse's aide will come see Mama three times a week, and a regular nurse will come by twice a week. For now, anyway.
