A Realm Regained |

| It is 1434 Shire Reckoning, and most of Middle-earth is free. One realm remains in the clutches of evil, and the usual suspects gather in a great enterprise to free it. | The Tale of Years says that Sam left the Shire in 1482 SR - on Frodo's birthday - and went to the Havens. But what happened on that date in my AU, when he has no need to seek the Havens? Sad, in a happy sort of way, and not what I was intending to write for Yule.

| In LOTR, Professor Tolkien tells us that the hobbits did not mark the destruction of the Ring or, sadly, Frodo's birthday, but they did celebrate the first blowing of the Horn of the Mark in the Shire, on November 2nd.
In October 1428 SR, before the trip to Gondor, a group of Tooks, Gamgees and one very important Baggins goes to Brandy Hall.

Chapters 3 is PG-13 due to talk of suicide and self-harm, and Chapters 7 & 12 due to mention of abuse. Chapter 11 may need a fluff warning. |
