Poor Legolas, you keep letting him suffer! At least he has been rather patient so far - I wonder how long that is going to be the case. Not being able to banter with Aragorn has to be tough, good for him he doesn´t have Gimli as a friend yet, that would have been real torture! Just imagine, two friends of that kind making jokes or friendly insults at the poor elf... Another wonderful chapter, I´m looking forward to the next - I hope Thranduil is not going to hurt Elrond *grins* Alina

Author's reply

I can't reveal what happens with Legolas's speech, of course, but his problems, speech and otherwise, are far from over. You are right about it being good Gimli isn't around then. Having to listen to the dwarf insult him right and left and not be able to answer would be true torture indeed. The next chapter, which I will put up today actually, will deal with Thranduil and Elrond. I hope you like it, too.

WHOOT!!! First review!! Anywayz...Legolas remembers!!! YAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! But poor him, remembering that stuff probably wasn't too much fun! I hate it when I remember things so quickly that you can't stop to think about it, like trying to remember a dream. It all comes back at the same time and you can't stop or else you might forget what happened next. ACK!!! Heh...i kinda forgot about the whole snake being in a sack for how many days? I still expected it to be exactly as it was before...heh...but at least it didn't start to rot!! YUCK!!! Elladan and Elrohir...tsk, tsk tsk...spreading such rumours of woodelves to young children!!! But eat them...hehe...funny image...heh, eat him behind a flower bush...hehehehehe...even funnier image...to think, the last king of Gondor eaten by a woodelf...hehehehehe...ok, I'm done now. Hope Legolas and Estel get Elladan and Elrohir back for that by the end of this! Thranduil and Elrond...*sigh* guess this one's not going to be very nice, eh? But it cannot be helped now can it, especially if nothing has changed the past who knows how many years. You just had to end it there though, didn't you?!?!? Just when we're ready to hear what everyone has to say...argh!!! Alas, my poor, dear woodelf. Hope you get him out of this speech thing soon, love the memories!!! POST SOON!!!!!! *~SuGaR~*

Author's reply

I think a lot of people forgot about the snake. It's a good thing that Glorfindel didn't. Poor little Estel, being fed such stories by his brothers and being so terrified of Legolas. And, poor Legolas not having the faintest idea why Estel was so afraid of him. The hope of men eaten by a wood elf. Just think of all we would have missed, if that had happened. I haven't decided yet, if there is going to be payback in this story. That would be nice, though, if I can work it in. Thranduil and Elrond together. I think you may like the next chapter. Glad you like the memories. I love to throw those in from time to time.

Sindar90 · 23 February 2004 · Chapter 34

I'm glad that Legolas finally woke up. It must be awful to wake up and realize that you can't speak. What if Elronds plan doesn't work? Help! *************** Olen iloinen, että Legolas viimeinkin heräsi. Täytyy olla kauheaa herätä ja huomata ettei pysty puhumaan. Mitä jos Elrondin suunnitelma ei toimi? Apua! ****************** I hope that you continue writing more soon... *********** I'm on leave this week, we have skiing holiday here right now so I have time to read - Harry Potter will be published 12 mars in finnish, so I will be my nose at that book then. After this week we have swedishtest - and I hate that language - well all my friends hate it too, but we have to read it! I love chemistry and english and painting lessons in school- at home I like also to play videogames - mostly playstation (I have PSOne and PS2 and Nintendo64) and I have almost all SIMS at my computer. My mother is a big fan of Buffy the vampire Slayer(she has bought all the 5 seasons on DVD - she has read all 7 season transkripts on the net)... but she's an alien... and proud of it.... That will be my second books title: MY MOTHER IS AN ALIEN.... first will be MY MOTHER IS SHIT.... and the third will be DRIVING WITH PSYCOMoM... story of how to get points - like 14 point for the rollator, 25 if you hit running people... My godmother suggested that my fourth book should be titled - MY DAD and HIS SEACRED "other" FAMILY AT THE BACK OF HIS VAN....

Author's reply

Legolas speaks, it's just that no one can understand him. That would be very frustrating and more than a little frightening. I hope you have fun on your holiday. Where I live, we haven't seen snow in four years. I've never watched Buffy, but I have one friend in particular who loves it. He's into vampires and loves Anne Rice. If your mother is an alien, where is she from? You sound like you have an interesting life. I am updating Wednesday afternoon (US time). I'm thinking you are probably seven hours ahead of me, so it will be Wednesday evening in Finland.

Alina · 22 February 2004 · Chapter 34

Great story! I have read from the first chapter (should have reviewed earlier...sorry) and I´m always looking forward to your updates! Poor Legolas! Finally awake and safe but unable to communicate - how mean of you to break his wrists, too ;-) I just hope Elrond will come up with something soon or I all but expect Legolas to try and write, splints or not (would be painful...) Keep up the great work! Alina

Author's reply

Thank you. Better late than never. I'm glad you finally delurked. Actually, when I wrote about his wrists being broken, I hadn't yet thought of the speech problem. When I did come up with that, it dawned on me he wouldn't be able to write, and that made it perfect for him not being able to communicate at all. It's great when things like that come together and work out to make a part of the story stronger. I wish I had had that all planned out in advance, but I have to admit it was just a coincidence. Elrond has a plan, which I will reveal soon. But, you can bet that if Elrond's plan doesn't work, Legolas will definitely try to write anyway. I will certainly keep going. Thanks again, and I hope you continue to review.

*~SuGaR~* · 22 February 2004 · Chapter 34

awww...did the chapter have to be that short!?!? *sigh* my poor, poor elf!!! waking up to realize you can't talk properly, you have three broken bones and you have absolutely no clue as to what happened!?!?!? ACK!!!! Elrond better find something to help Legolas soon, hopefully before you launch the phase of torture on my poor elf!!! can't wait for more!!!! POST SOON!!!

Author's reply

I didn't realize the chapter was short. sorry. I feel for poor Legolas, too, waking up with all that going on. Having those problems is one thing, but not being able to remember how he got them has got to be very frustrating and confusing. But then, you know how evil I am. :o) Elrond has a plan, which will be revealed soon. I hope to be able to post again on Wednesday.

tmelange · 21 February 2004 · Chapter 34

Great continuation. Kudos.

Author's reply

Thank you very much. I happily accept kudos. :o)

Sivan · 21 February 2004 · Chapter 34

I hope Elrond will find a cure... Very tense story... please update soon... please? I still love what I read, as every chapter so far. Keep up again the PERFECT work that you are doing with your story. Sivan

Author's reply

You can bet that Elrond will be working hard to do just that. Yes, this story is very tense. That's why I throw in some humor from time to time. I also think the characters often had funny moments (and not just the twins). I'm happy you keep loving it.

*~SuGaR~* · 18 February 2004 · Chapter 33

art? yeah, it's actually something I'm pretty good at, although comparing my work to some others...I'm not so sure anymore...but I can draw a straight line with a ruler!!! YES!!!! my sister claims to be unable to do that as well =) but no one in my family is really artsy, my aunt's kinda crafty but other than that, I guess it just came out of nowhere...? I can't draw realistic people though, which really sucks but Legolas as cartoons will have to do! I wish I had a scanner...argh! well, what can I say...=S...we finally get to Rivendell, Legolas wakes up (didn't expect you to have him wake up this chapter, but works for me!)and now he can't talk!?!?!?! now that was something I hadn't anticipated...out of all the problems, the first we see (or rather hear) is he can't talk! He's not like a baby now cause he knows what he wants to say...did his tongue happen to go funny like all his other muscles??? Maybe Elrond should start working on that snake...hopefully he'll find somthing that'll help Legolas!! Positive thinking!! That's the key!! But now Thranduil starting to get angry...that can't be good...ack!!! MY POOR LEGOLAS!!!!!!!!! what else are they going to do to you!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this torture is far from over and knowing you it'll probably get worse than not being able to talk!!!! eep!!!!!!!! MY POOR, TORTURED ELF!!!!!!!(yeah, he's my elf =)...heh) well, even though I hate my poor elf being subject to all this torture POST SOON!!!!!!!!!! *~SuGaR~*

Author's reply

I have a scanner, but fat lot of good that does you, right? Oh, but Legolas can talk. He just doesn't make any sense. It's very frustrating to be able to think in your head what you want to say and then have only gibberish come out. Thranduil is not a happy camper right now. He has been through the emotional ringer of late, as have they all, of course.. Legolas's problem has nothing to do with his tongue. You'll find out soon. More torture to come? Oh my, yes. Poor Legolas probably wishes Peter Jacdson had never heard of him, or that Tolkien had made Elrond choose some other elf to join the Fellowship. Not even the strongest elf in Middle-earth could survive what we writers put him through. Poor baby.

Sivan · 18 February 2004 · Chapter 33

'From bad to worse' - riddle, that look fitting to your story, but I still love it. I still love what I read, please update soon. Keep up the PERFECT work that you are doing with your story. Sivan

Author's reply

Thank you, as always. I don't know if things are worse than dying a horrible death, but its definitely not much better for sure. Our poor elf does have problems. I'll keep at it.

Theresa S. · 18 February 2004 · Chapter 33

Good story! Keep it up. Can't wait till the next chapter!

Author's reply

Thank you very much and welcome to the story. Rest assured. I will keep it up until the story is told. I try to update every three or four days.

sofia · 17 February 2004 · Chapter 33

Im glad that they finally reached Imladris. And that Legolas woke up. But now he cant really talk. Oh NO!

Author's reply

Oh, yes. Our dear elf will have more problems before the story is done.

*~SuGaR~* · 16 February 2004 · Chapter 32

ack!!! falling behind again!!! no, i haven't read Elven Song yet, but I will when I get the chance. It's complete rite? Complete stories are nice cuz you don't have to wait for the author to post, but it's so hard to pry yourself away, especially with authors that end everything in a cliffie. I started reading The Hunting Trip with 30 cahpters already posted and I thought is was done!!! (I was off by about 20 chapters!!!) I found myself reading 4 to 5 chapters at a time and they are NOT short chapters!!! (but during the process we always wanted more) a lot of the capters have a lot of reader responses though =) that's what's great about stories that are in progress, reader responses!! it makes reviewing so much more enjoyable!! =) annnnnnnnnyyyyyywaaaaaaayz!!!!! hehehe...i love the twins!!!!! they're always so funny in every story!!!!! fingers and horses teeth...hehe...Glorfindel still doesn't know how to cook, eh? It would have seems that he could have learned a least a little bit of cooking in Rivendell...oh well, maybe he'll cook up a nice meal for Legolas when he's better!!!!!! hehe...or maybe not, might ruin it for Legolas...sorry Glorfy!!! maybe he'll learn by the time the story's over!!! Aside from all the funny stuff...POOR LEGOLAS!!!!!!!!! Hope we get back to Rivendell soon. Can't stand him being unconcious for so long...argh! love the flashbacks and memories of Legolas' childhood, i always love reading that stuff!! It's so cute!!! Just picturing him as a young elfling!!(I drew a little cartoon of him as an elfling =) ) Well, happy reading with The Hunting Trip!! I'll read Jocelyn's story as soon a I can. Hope Legolas wakes up soon or I might go crazy...POST SOON!!! (Friday would be a good day since i don't have school, so please POST SOON!!!) *~SuGaR~*

Author's reply

No, "Elven Song" is not complete. There's one chapter left, but it has been a long time since it was updated. It's a long story, so it may be finished before you get to the current chapter. I think I may write Jocelyn and give her a little push. I love reading stories that are complete, as well, so I can read them whenever I want to. I also like to read stories that are updated quickly. The twins can be very serious, of course, but I like them best, when they are either playing pranks or bickering with each other. I compare Glorfindel's cooking skills with a bad driver, who knows how to drive but isn't very good at it. As long as Glorfindel can get someone else to cook for him, he is happy to leave things the way they are. I adore Legolas as an elfling, especially a very young one. That dream where he catches the blue butterfly for his mother is one of my favorites. There will be at least one more little Legolas dream later on. Are you into art? My mother is an artist. She does watercolors. I am fond of saying that I can't draw a straight line with a ruler. None of us children inherited her talent. I became a writer. No one else in my family does that, either. We are a diverse bunch. I'm updating this afternoon. Is that soon enough?

Eruanna · 14 February 2004 · Chapter 32

Okay; round two! Sweet recollection with the warrior braids; and at last we have some understanding! Yeah! Hee hee. MAN, those twins crack me up! (Or is it Elf? *sigh* So much for my Elvish etiquette!) Poor, poor, Glorfindel. "Glorfindel and the Case of the Elusive Cooking Skills". It could be the makings of an intriguing mystery story! Who knows, we just might come up with something! Speaking of elusive though, it says that Glorfindel "just could not figure out how the skill of good cooking had alluded him for so many years." The word "allude" means to hint at something, and the word "elude" means to dodge. I hate words like those. I can seldom remember which is which...*shakes her head* Again, those silly twins. Oh yeah... "Hey! Elladan! Elrohir is White Wolf's favori-" *gets tackled by White Wolf* *gets up again, spitting out dirt, and not the least discouraged* And then a sweet promise of future enjoyment of stars...that was a touching part. I don't think it would really help Legolas much to remain anonymous...though it would be a nice try. Authors would just torture "that cute archer Elf in the Fellowship who doesn't have a name." We'd find some way to do it! ;-) Sindar90 is lucky...I've always wanted to speak Finnish... The thing about Slash (besides the aforementioned) is that it's so stupid! If you take the Slash out of a story, you won't lose a thing! We should elect a National Slash Editor to take all references to Slash out of stories! I've really wanted to read some stories, but if they contain Slash, no way. But it irks me that the story could be wonderful without that perverted stuff, and the storyline wouldn't change one bit. Grr! Keep going!

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked the bit about the warrior braids. I liked doing that. As you've no doubt noticed, I like to go back in time now and then and tell about things that happened earlier on. I think it helps flesh out the characters, as well as the story. Sometimes it's more a humorous interlude than to gain any real information. I like that title you came up with for Glorfindel and his poor cooking skills. Very cute. I know the difference between allude and elude. I just wrote the Wrong one. It's the same with effect and affect. I know effect is a noun and affect is a verb. I always have to stop and think which I'm using before I put the right one down. Thanks for mentioning it, though. I like to be corrected, if I've made a boo boo. I can't believe you told Elladan. How mean of you. I had to do some quick repair work, but we are fine now. :oP I must go now. Talk to you after the next chapter.

Eruanna · 14 February 2004 · Chapter 31

Darn it - late again! ;-) I like this chapter very much! I am glad that Elrond decided to tell Thranduil what he was doing; we might have been in real trouble if he'd gotten really mad at Elrond! *sigh* Poor Thranduil. Never really gets a chance to be fear-free. In fact, I would imagine that he spends most of the time Legolas is away with Estel pacing! Poor Legolas! My POOR x INFINITY to the 100th power baby! (You realize that this could get out of hand again; eventually I'll end up with infinity to the infinitieth power, and then where will we be? Right where we started, that's where!) ;-) Ack! No recognition! I may resort to threats of cruel and unusual punishment if you keep it that way! (The only problem with that is that I am completely powerless to carry them out; I can't even wack you with my hair! No seriously, I do that to boys who annoy me; my hair is about four feet long. It's about my only source of Elven pride. ;-)) Hmm. Why *does* one need the secrets of an extinct snake? UNLESS, of course, the poison would happen to still be in Legolas, in which case they would have need of such knowledge... That was a nice moment with the knives. (I didn't mean that the *knives* were having a nice moment, I meant that...oh whatever.) On with the next chapter!

Author's reply

Elrond finally realized Legolas's father should make the decision. I'm glad he did. It was the right thing to do. Thranduil won't be fear-free for a long time, I'm afraid. As for his pacing when Legolas and Estel are together, you can bet he isn't calm. It's a good thing that they usually end up in Rivendell instead of Mirkwood. I have a feeling that they don't tell Thranduil all that befalls them. He'd probably chain Legolas to a tree, adult or not. No, you can't fulfill any of your threats. You don't know where I live. And, my computer has a firewall. And, I know you won't be vicious in your reviews, will you? :o) Elrond has plans for the snake. That's all I will say. I plan on updating tomorrow (Tuesday).

crap...i think I'm getting a cold...*sigh* damn mortality... Legolas dying...again!!!!!! now that would be beyond cruel!!!!!!! but now Elrond has to put him in a coma...dang, guess we won't be hearng from Legolas for a while, once more, AGAIN!!!!!! *sigh* let's just hope he doesn't stay in a coma for long...having Legolas unconcious...argh!!!! reminds me of The Hunting Trip by Ithilien...he was unconcious for i don't remember how many chapters!!!! hope Legolas will be awake for a while before they put him back in a coma!! well, I'mm gonna go eat an orange or something now, bye!! *~SuGaR~*

Author's reply

I hope you feel okay. Take plenty of vitamin C. Legolas isn't going to die again. We won't hear from Legolas for a while, as you guessed, but don't worry, he'll be back. Also, no more comas, but of course, there will be other stuff wrong with him. :o) I'm reading "The Hunting Trip", but I haven['t gotten very far yet. It's a very long story, so it will take me a long time to read it. Have you read "Elven Song" by Jocelyn? That is one of the best LOTR stories I have ever read, and it is so well written. It's at this site. You might try it, if you haven't already. Well, I hope to see you after my next update.

*~SuGaR~* · 7 February 2004 · Chapter 29

sorry I'm so late in reviewing, this week turned out ot be busier than i thought it'd be...stupid English homework! ahh...but we must learn to write brilliantly cruel stories of our own, now musn't we precious? Maybe not so cruel, but then it may not attract readers...damn! *sigh* ppl only like to see Tolkien's beloved characters suffer... well, let me start by saying "agh" <poor Legolas, Elrond having to put his ankle back into place...*shiver* *closes eyes in attempt to shut out images* ACK!!!! it doesn't work when it's in your mind!!!!! and poor Thranduil, hearing Legolas' crys of pain, but still helpless to do anything!!!!! *sigh* still got a looooong way to go, don't we?? at least we're going back to rivendell now!!!! yeah!!!!! but i'll probably change my mind when I see what you do to Legolas there...POOR LEGOLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!< well, next chapter!!!!! *~SuGaR~*

Eruanna · 6 February 2004 · Chapter 30

This feels somewhat like the calm before the storm...now aren't I perceptive? ;-) Maybe Glorfindel couldn't have messed that meal up, but *I* sure could have! (Heck, I can trip while I'm *sitting down*!) *shakes her head* Those troublesome twins, my goodness! *in a mocking tone* "He SNAPPED at me!" Big surprise there, Elrohir! Sorry. I like to pick on him. The overall emotion (Legolas angst, etc.) is just right, and if I commented on every little paragraph I'd drive you completely insane...but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire chapter! The feeling was just right...but poor Thranduil! And (here's the biggy)...My POOR x 5215(6248% of the square root of 54,222,869 divided by 9/5 to the 18th power over 4,863,215 to the 183 power squared) (I could go on...) BABY! Yes, you did create a mathematical monster! Next time, maybe I'll just pull out one of my old Algebra books and insert ridiculous numbers into the slots...it'd be easier than sitting here and thinking up something ludicrous like I just wrote! Anyway, I can't wait for the next chapter! I feel like there is something more I want to say, but I can't quite articulate it, so there goes that...;-) This is an ominous chapter! Yes, I believe that at least part of the reason I love to torture Legolas is that I was really ticked at how little credit Legolas got, and I figured that the best way to get people to pay attention to him is to hurt him! Now, isn't he lucky that we all have this logic? ;-) Go people who don't like slash! I made the mistake of reading some of that when I was about 11. It is one of the most unfortunate things that has ever happened to me I think, but it was a well-learned lesson. Same-sex romance is sick and unnatural, and a completely unbiblical concept. It just gives me shivers. Keep writing!

Author's reply

As you've noticed, and as I've probably said more than once, I like to put bits of humor in from time to time. The twins are so perfect for that. Don't pick on Elrohir too much. He's really a sweety and my favorite twin, but don't tell Elladan. I really love him, too. I think the best thing you can do to keep from driving yourself crazy with the math is just to say POOR X infinity to the inth power. That ought to about do it. I think that if you asked Legolas, he would just prefer to remain totally anonymous. It sure would save him a lot of grief. You share perfectly my ideas on slash. I just can't get through it, not that I try anymore. I read some summaries, and they sound so intriguing, and then at the end they either say, Aragorn/Legolas or Frodo/Sam, or they just say Slash. I run away as fast as my finger can hit the back button. I was reading one story a while back, and was on about chapter five or six, when it started wit the slash. There was no warning. I quit reading. Well, enough ranting. More soon.

Sindar90 · 6 February 2004 · Chapter 29

Hey!!!! You asked me what my friend´s think about your story. And my answer is: they think that it is brilliant. One of my friends who is big fan of Legolas (like me) is begging me to do more translations. They all think that your writing are intresting and the story is excating. Note from my mother: Hi, I was totally kidding - I love to tease my teenage daughter.. and the word porn isn´t considered here as bad as in States. You should have heard the "aaahhh" from three teenage girls - when Legolas was first time on the screen in Return of the King. My daughter and her friends are big fans on Lord of the Rings movies and also any story they get in their hands. And I´m glad because I have always considered reading important. Greetings from your finnish reader! Elf rules and so does Ents. Same in finnish: Terveiset sinun suomalaiselta lukijaltasi! Haltijat ovat huippuja kuten myös Entit. My home towns website´s adress is http://www.kouvola.fi/ P.S. Have you read Eoin Colfer´s Artemis Fowl -books?

Author's reply

Thank your friends for me. I'm very honored that they like my story. Also, thank your mother for her note. I'm afraid I have not only not read the Artemis Fowl books, but I have never heard of them. Artemis is Greek. Are the books connected to Greek mythology?

Sindar90 · 5 February 2004 · Chapter 29

OOOH, i really like this Chapter!!!!! Glorfindel is funny: A small smile touched Glorfindel’s lips. “Legolas and I will have to compare notes, when he recovers.” i love that part. Greeting´s: Your Finnish reader ;) (My mother thinks that this was porn ... all that undressing - well my mother was just gidding me... like she allways do) I´ve translated your writings - (with help of my mother (she can also swedish, german and russian laguages - and a little bit Italian and she is also wisard with computers) to my friends they don´t read english as well as I - I´ve read half of latest Harry Potter - book , the first half my mother translated to me. Elfs rules....

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked this chapter. It wasn't easy making the starting of a campfire and putting on splints interesting reading. I hope your mother was just kidding with you. You can tell her that this is most definitely NOT porn in any fashion. If it was, I'd have described the undressing part (and beyond) in detail. It is just a story about friendship, involving hurt/comfort. I don't write porn or even slash (same sex romance). I hate those kinds of stories to be honest. I wanted a bit of humor with Glorfindel. I thought the cooking part would do that. Glad you liked it. I congratulate your mother on her multi-lingual achievement. That is quite an accomplishment. Since you are translating my story, are your friends reading it, too? I'd love for you to tell me what they think of it. It won't hurt my feelings, if any of them don't like it. I realize that not everyone will. I should be updating again tomorrow afternoon (Friday US time).

Author's reply

I'm short on time right now, but I'll answer your first review a little later. Thanks for the 100th review. That is very, very nice. I love it. I didn't realize, when I told you earlier to multiply the "poors", that I was creating a mathematical monster. You'll have to go way beyond any known math in the universe before this story is finished, if you keep that going, because This will be a much longer story. :o)
