Legolas is coming a little unraveled here. He's on edge and talking out loud to himself. That is very worrisome, even if his wrists are healing.
Author's reply
Legolas's problems have shifted from physical to mental. And yes, it is worrisome. I'm reminded of the phrase: Things will get worse before they get better. Of course, this is fantasy fanfic, so there's no guarantee things *will* get better. Come to think of it, that sums up RL, as well.

Another wonderful chapter! You build up the tension so well - whenever one problem is solved, the next shows up, and still the polt never feels forced. Poor Legolas, first the injuries, now nightmares and misunderstandings. This elf needs something to lift his mood! :-)
Please update soon.
Alina
Author's reply
Thank you. I try very hard to keep things moving along from one plot twist to another, and not forcing it is one of my goals. I'm glad you think I have succeeded.
Legolas does need a lift, doesn't he? Now, all we have to do it wait to see, if he gets one. :o)

So... Is Legolas alright? I mean Mentally, he seemed broken.
I still love what I read, as I enjoyed read it.
Keep up the PERFECT work that you are doing with your fic, it is lovely and tensed.

More soon, yes.
Legolas is having a hard time mentally. Broken, no. But, he is in the process breaking. How far it goes, only time will tell.
Thank you.

Oh dear... I am getting frustrated at Legolas! But I guess that is the sign of a good story! Real life is not perfect! However much I want Legolas to realise what is happening, I know it just doesn't happen that way! Keep up the good work! Don't torture him too much longer!;)
Namarië,
~Lossenchristal
Author's reply
RL can be very frustrating. I know watching a TV show or movie, I sometimes find myself trying mentally to knock some sense into a character, when I see what they can't. And here, poor Legolas just doesn't realize what is happening to him. Mordraug is insidious, and don't forget how vulnerable our elf is right now with all that has happened. I hope you enjoy this next part of the story.
Thank you. I will keep at it. As for not torturing Legolas much longer, umm...well, this is an angst story, after all. :o)

...ummmm...
WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! why did Thranduil have to go?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
"If Legolas had only known what lay ahead, he most certainly would not have made that statement." I'm glad I didn't have to wait through that =)
YEAH!!!!!!!!! Legolas is cured, but that won't stop you...*glares* I knew it was Mordraug...but how ironic, such a brightly lit room only to reveal such a dark elf...*sigh* my poor elf...I knew it wasn't over yet...hmmm...does Mordraug have something to do with tihs new Greenwood ordeal??? I might as well not ask since you won't say anything anyway =P
argh...4 chapters at a time still isn't enough!!!! POST SOON!!!! Hopefully before the end of spring break or else i might fall behind even more >.
*~SuGaR~*
Author's reply
Welcome back. I'm sorry you fell behind, but I'm glad you have now caught up. I hope Spring Break is going well.
I don't think you should use the word 'cured' just yet. Although, Legolas *is* free of the poison and it's effects. However, there is more trouble ahead for our dear elf. You know me so well. :o)
And surprise. I will tell you that Mordraug has nothing to do with what is happening in Mirkwood. That whole thing was just a plausible means of getting Thranduil away from Rivendell, since he just didn't fit into the rest of the story. Sorry. He's a great father and was sorely needed by Legolas during the other ordeals, but he doesn't figure into the next part, and he is too great of a character to just have him hanging around yelling at Elrond and hugging Legolas. I have too much respect for him to do that. It would have been just too lame.
I hope you enjoy the next chapter, which I have just posted, btw.

What a scary dream! I guess I can see that Mordraug might still haunt him. But the threat that it will be his own mind that does him in is worse.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Fearing that your own mind, whatever the cause, might be your undoing is a frightening thought.

I thought this story was done a while back and then I thought that the chapters posted here were the same as what was on ff.net. But I see there are some I haven't read.
If I were the Men, I would not want to provoke Thranduil! Legolas appears to be doing all right though and I'm glad for that.
Author's reply
No, this story is far from over. No matter the reason you left, welcome back.
I wouldn't want to be those men, either. Demanding Thranduil's presence is not the smartest thing they could do.

I was glad to see this hopeful chapter. How hard it must have been to let Legolas have those convulsions and not try to steady him. Thranduil is certainly his impatient self! Legolas seems sort of like a stroke victim to me, having to learn to do things all over again.
Author's reply
It is nice to hear from you again. I thought you had quit reading the story a while back.
When one of Thranduil's children is in need, the king can get very impatient in wanting to help them. I prefer to portray that side of him as a father. I can't abide it, when he is portrayed as abusive.
You are right, I thought of a stroke victim, when I wrote about Legolas's speech problems.

Evil of you to stop just there! Now we all have to keep guessing...I´m pretty sure you would not kill poor Legolas after all you´ve put him through (or would you?!)I just shudder to think what effects this antidote may cause. Just imagine he would go blind, too! No, now I´m evil, how can I suggest such a thing...
Please keep the chapters coming!

I only kill my characters once. Legolas has had his one time, so he's safe form that, at least. I have other things in store for him, though. :o)

oooooooo...Elrond's private room...
*sigh* poor Thranduil, still no answers...stupid reactions, always taking their sweet time...but there were no big explosions during their little...meeting? i dunno what to call it...
ACK!!! not only do you have to put Legolas through all this suffering, but now Elrond has to use him as a human guinea pig...wait...elven guinea pig...???
Well, hopefully the venom will have done something by the next chapter and if the venom in the other dish dries up and they happne to need it...argh! But what if this isn't caused by the venom...hmmm...that would just really stink...!!! Anywayz POST SOON!!!!!
*~SuGaR~*
Author's reply
I had to think about what Elrond's private work room might be like. I thought that it had to be full of all kinds of plant life and liquids, so that's what I wrote.
No explosions. Thranduil got angry a couple of times, but he believes Elrond is Legolas's only chance to be cured, so he held his tongue for the most part, not that Elrond would refuse to aid Legolas, if Thranduil had lost his temper, but he wasn't willing to take any chances.
Elrond doesn't know any other way to find out what might be needed to give Legolas, so yes, he will use him as an elven guinea pig.
The other drop of venom won't dry out. Remember Elrond put the oil cloth over it. The cure will take time, if there is one you understand. You don't know that I won't leave our dear elf with a body full of poison for a long time to come.
Not caused by the venom? Hmmm. Now, there's an idea. :o)

Well, this went better than I would have expected! Elrond is a truly dipolmatic person - then again, any outburst from Thranduil would have been understandable. I wonder whether this outburst is still to come - I have that feeling that you won´t let Legolas "off the hook" easily...
I´m looking forward to your next chapter!
Alina
Author's reply
Well, Thranduil came close to losing it a couple of times, but as he said, he believes Elrond is Legolas's last chance to be cured. I think he did a good job of holding it together.
Let Legolas off easy? Of course not. There are more problems ahead for our dear elf.
