Now this yearning grew ever greater with the years; and the Númenóreans began to hunger for the undying city that they saw from afar, and the desire of everlasting life, to escape from death and the ending of delight, grew strong upon them; and ever as their power and glory grew greater their unquiet increased. For though the Valar had rewarded the Dúnedain with long life, they could not take from them the weariness of the world that comes at last, and they died, even their kings of the seed of Eärendil; and the span of their lives was brief in the eyes of the Eldar. Thus it was that a shadow fell upon them: in which maybe the will of Morgoth was at work that still moved in the world.

The Fall of Gil-galad by Unheard Chime
Gil-galad was an Elven-King. Of him the harpers sadly sing: The last whose realm was fair and free Between the Mountains and the Sea. Alas! This poem's not complete, And I have taken up the feat. But now the poem is quite done: So Read and Review, just for fun! I always loved "The Fall of Gil-galad" that Sam recites while on the way to Rivendell, and I always thought it was a shame that Tolkien never completed it, so here it is: my version of the rest of The Fall of Gil-galad.

The Jewels of his Existence by Orophins Dottir
. . .in nothing is the power of the Dark Lord more clearly shown than in the estrangement that divides all those who still oppose him." Haldir, the March Warden of the North. Two tales of the effects of ignorance and prejudice, and the evil they bring. This piece and the "The Roses of Ilúvatar" are two sides of the same coin. This one belongs to Gimli. I wanted to see if I could write two separate stories that were yet intertwined. Each can be read on its own, but together they make the whole of what happened in Gondor. AU and proud of it! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE STORY STRUCTURE OF THIS STORY AND ITS COMPANION PIECE HAVE CHANGED. Thank you.
