Another well done chapter - I was so excited I even took a peek at it at work - shame on me. Here is my favorite line: “And,” Ithilden added,... “you may not put your hand in any hole into which you cannot see. That is a rule.” It's the "That is a rule" part that cracked me up. The coming of age ceremony was very nice, and of course Annael was ready for it before it happened. If he does bond soon, it would put some distance between him and Legolas, I think. Where is Eilian in this story? You're not going to leave him out, are you? If you need ideas, I'd like to suggest another bath scene ;-) Legolas, Legolas...Sigh. Honestly, leading that poor girl on - even if she does seem like an empty-headed, thoughtless twit. What does he see in her, anyway? Hope your trip inspires you, and you post again soon!

I love Sinnarin's child logic - how else would he know? It will be fun to see him in your future (chronologically future) stories. I like how the scene with Legolas and Synia turned out - I am glad Legolas saw his choice as not being optimal before someone else pointed it out. :) I am looking forward to more Thranduil and the White Council. You've got all these very powerful people sitting in one room, each with gifts and motives and ideas that are not fully known. Should be a fun challenge.

This was terrific, Daw. I love the domestic bliss we are witness to with Ithilden and his family. Oh, boy, it looks like Sinnarn is going to be another Eilian (who I miss this time around, but I'm holding out for the bonding story of he and Celuwan--I probably misspelled her name, sorry). I got very teary eyed over Annael's coming of age ceremony and the solemnity of it all. I'm losing all my babies!! Sob..! Oh, well, time has a way of growing everyone up whether we wish it or not. Legolas is smart to not deepen a relationship that he is not wholeheartedly a party to. I don't like to think of him using this girl for his own pleasure, but I guess you can't blame him in a way. He's smart enough to know when to apply the brakes, unlike human males the equivalent of his age. I feel sorry for the girl, however. It is all to obvious that she has an altogether different take on their relationship than Legolas does. Annael, on the other hand, seems terribly serious. Well, he is grown, after all, and so bonding and marriage and children will definitely be something he can now consider. It will be hard to have to actually WAIT (perish the thought) for the next chapter that will be longer in coming since you are leaving town. I hope you dream up lots of other story plots while you are traveling to and fro. Keep a notepad handy! You cannot imagine how much happiness you are personally responsible for among your readers, Daw. I'm so glad you're sharing your gift with us. Believe me, our lives are much enriched because of it. Have a good trip, and may God keep you safe. BG

I loved the image of Ithilden doing his best "Thranduil". I can only imagine how intimidating he must have looked. I also enjoyed the glimpse into his life behind closed doors. I had to giggle at the image of Alfirin marching into the throne room and forcing food down Ithinden's throat. She'd do it too! And Sinnarn sounds like an adorable, mischevious elfling. It's a little scary how much he seems to be like his Uncle Eilian. So Annael is an adult now. It's hard to believe! But he seems up to the challenge, and has matured in many ways. Not the least of which is in the romance department. Sounds like he has a serious romance going with Beliniel. I'm afraid that Legolas is headed for a problem though. He is not serious about Synia, but I am afraid that she may be hoping to convince him otherwise. He is a prince, and would be considered a great "catch" I'm sure. He better watch himself with this one, she seems determined to ensnare him. And even if he does not like her in "that" way, and has told her he does not intend to become involved with anyone, feelings will still be hurt if things go too far. Be careful Legolas - I predict problems ahead!

I loved the spirit of Thranduil inhabiting his eldest son. It was fun to watch. And do I detect traces of Legolas in his nephew's curiosity about the world around him? Speaking of Legolas, it *was* a social gaffe for him to leave the festivities to be with Synia. There are some times when public responsibilities take precedence over private desires. But that's a lesson that takes some time to learn. And young lust doesn't make it any easier to learn that lesson! I'm glad that Legolas hasn't deceived her about his long-range plans for their relationship. But it's obvious Synia has other long-range plans in store for them. I fear much emotional turmoil and more social gaffes are in store for the not-quite-an-adult prince. Hopefully, Annael will help him out in the days to come. Looking forward with great anticipation for the upcoming council with Thranduil and the power elves. ;-) LKK

Legolas is a great uncle, that's wonderful to see! loved this little exchange: “Ada?” Sinnarn had suddenly appeared at his elbow. “Yes?” “I was lonely in my bed last night. I want to sleep with you and Nana tonight.” He looked at his son in dismay while Alfirin smothered her laugh in his neck. " sooo cute! He's reminding me of the young princes already. Great to see how much he reminds Ithilden of a young Eilian...I bet he'll be just as big a handful as his uncle! Another cute little touch was Annael's mom having to bend Legolas down to kiss his head...they sure grow fast don't they? great chapter!

Daw, What a good chapter. Ithilden is certainly his father's son. He handled the men with all the Thranduil-ish-ness he could muster. I was glad to see that the elves were willing to help the men and knowing the destructiveness of humans, I was also glad that it would be on the elves' terms. It was, however, kind of naughty of the men to try and take advantage of the king being gone. You worked that out quite well. I could only smile at Sinnarn's resemblance to his Uncle Eilian. Poor Ithilden and Alfirin. The coming of age ceremony was lovely. I liked the questions asked of Annael and the pledges he made. Rituals are good, IMO. I think we miss that in our society. I'm not so sure about the young and possessive Synia. I'm kind of beginning to think she's got more on her mind than Legolas does. Be wary, Master Elf..be very wary! Legolas also allowed her to distract him when he should not have. He missed the toasts. A mistake on his part...but part of her master plan? I can't wait to see what happens next. I don't think I need to tell you, again, that I love your style and creative stories..so I won't. I will say that I got teary eyed at the ceremony and can't wait for the next chapter. Thanks, Daw. He must be joking-- work more important than writing? That is insane...no, sacrilegious! My boss just laughs at the fact that I am so happily involved in LoTR fanfiction. He trusts that I will get done what I am supposed to, and I do. I am rather obsessive compulsive and good at organizing my time. As far as family goes, I am neither married nor a mother, but I think that when I am, my family will appreciate the happiness and relief I find in reading and writing. I sure wish my mother had something to take the edge off of raising us! Anyway, another lovely chapter. I love the honesty that you give to Legolas's thoughts, even though they make him seem more normal and less perfect. The fact that he acknowledges his quasi-interest in this she-elf, and the way he disciplines himself accordingly, is what I think makes him so respectable. Well done; I look forward to more! Lily

Aww, you made me cry! The coming of age ceremony was so sweet. Then you scared me to death with your comments to reviewers... "I love Annael and I am afraid I have plans for him in this story". That was as bad as an "evil cliffhanger"! Don't think you could dissapoint me with one of your stories-you surely haven't so far!! We'll miss you until Saturday, be safe on your trip.
