| Very well done! It seems like I've been saying that a lot about this story, but it's true. The last two chapters don't have the feel of being written just to continue the story, but rather round things out quite nicely. I love that you ended the story with Sam saying "Coming, Mr. Frodo!" as he'd done so many times before and now could, at last, do again. And the ending with Elanor was well managed. So, in conclusion, I echo may statement at the beginning of the review - Very well done, indeed. Author Reply: Thanks, I do appreciate the encouragement. The last chapter actually wasn't an add-on, but was on the outline from the start, I just wasn't sure I was going to use it but since people wanted to have that sense of closure, and it really was necessary the way the story was structured, I went ahead and put it in. Have to credit reader "Bob's your Uncle" for the idea of showing Sam's arrival, though, that wasn't part of the outline of the chapter, and I credit "FantasyFan" for the idea of showing Freddy's wedding, which wasn't on the outline either. Of course, I must credit you and the others who encouraged me not to stop short of the finish line. I must admit, the outline keeps me straight. I don't know how I could write one of these long stories without it, for I'd get lost chasing rabbits halfway through, I think... This way I keep reminding myself of the goal the story is aiming for, and that way it (usually) doesn't spin out of control. Thanks again for your reviews. | |
