Ah, but it HAS been a LONG time since I read Lost Tales. I'd forgotten about Meril.

Author Reply: She has intrigued me from the moment on I first read Lost Tales. When this story was first posted to the Silmarillion section of FF.Net, the Silmficcers kept guessing who she was and what she did for weeks. :)

Loved the description lifted from LOTR. It so fits any arrival there, I think!

Beautiful!

Author Reply: Thank you. :)

I considered writing something of my own for quite a while, had several tries, and - of course - all fell short compared with the original. So I thought that as long as I give proper credit, the Professor probably wouldn't mind.

Interesting that she chooses to go unaccompanied by her family, yet feels comforted when she realizes the land has ties to her husband.

Author Reply: Well, she didn't want to subject them to the Sea, in case they'd hit by the Longing. That doesn't mean she's stopped loving Elrond. I was always comforted by the thought that they'd reunited one day. Am very fond of Elrond, from the time on that I read "The Hobbit" for the first time.

Interesting warnings here.

Have read parts of Lost Tales, but haven't found them as interesting as the final accepted canon stories, I'm sorry to say.

Author Reply: Hey, that's okay! We're all different people. Personally, I'm bored to death by the Silmarillion, while love all the older stuff. A good thing the Professor didn't make up his mind in a lot of things - that way we all can find something we really like. ;)

The house looks awesome and I would love to go there. The feast also sounds lovely and it would have been nice to be there to eat, talk and sing with them. Maybe Celebrian finds out more about Meril there.

Author Reply: The truth about Meril will come out, bit by bit. She has quite a past.

Thanks for the support. :)

It is good to see the qurious Celebrian reappear, I get the feeling she is starting to heal now. The host she is going to sounds like a person it would be nice to meat, as it sounds he has a lot to tell. Not to mention that he has a very large house. I look forward to the next chapter.

Author Reply: Yep, she is starting to heal, although it will be a slow process.

Finarfin´s court must sound scary to Celebrian, I have no doubt it is quite large and that there are many rules to follow. Somehow I get the feeling that Celebrian likes better to live in a small house without fanfare, not being the center of attention at all hours. I look forward to the feast as that sounds lovely indeed.

Author Reply: Oh, it will be lovely. :) And so will the house in which they are going to stay during the festival.

Now I want to know who is this Meril. Wondering if she is that daughter of Finwe that went to exile and we never heard about her...I have to re-read a little bit my books, I don't remember...

Wonderful chapter, I really love your style in this particular story...

Thank you

Author Reply: Haha! Meril's identity won't be revealed right away - what would be the fun in that? But there will be little bits and pieces revealed gradually; you'll have to pay attention. Yes, I know I'm mean. ;)

How awesome it would be to go there and see the houses and the landscape. Not to mention hearing the songs and tales. Lovely.

Author Reply: Thank you. You ain't seen nothing yet, though. The real fun is still coming up.

It is not easy for Celebrian to leave her family but she has to. I guess her family in Aman look forward to meeting her.

Author Reply: The family perhaps does. She? Not so much, as you will see. But she has good reasons.
