Well that last paragraph rather snookers any argument that Sam might make. The importance of finding your 'heart-home' and cherishing the ones around us are concepts that you teach so well through your writing. Thank you Larner.

Author Reply: Thank you. Yes, in this story Frodo has chosen his heart-home indeed, and wishes to remain what time he has with those he loves for as long as he has. And I hope he will find the peace he seeks.

Thank you so very much for the great compliment.

Oh this is a lovely chapter in itself Larner. And presages far more I hope.

Author Reply: Thank you, Harrowcat. And I hope this will not disturb too many folk.

The prologue is so sweet! I love the showing of the deep love in the family and how you led up to this exploration.

But now where, oh where, is it going? I must confess I do have a sinking feeling about this. Sam *can't* go, he *can't*. It seems to me that such a decision would almost be against everything he stands for. I understand his being torn in two, but I just can't see him leaving his Rose and his Elanor.

But what of Frodo? If he goes--well, I can't say. If he stays...Oh, I hope I'm wrong, but somehow I doubt it very much. But knowing the love and gentleness with which you write such ends gives me hope that it won't be as painful as it seems right now.

I'm very anxious to see where this goes. You've left us on a cliff-hanger!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Frodo is due some healing before he goes, and will receive some, even here in the Shire. And he really does need to be able to learn to say goodbye, I think.

Sam would only go now, I think, if he was certain doing so would convince Frodo to go as well; but he knows that in this case Frodo's already made up his mind and won't do so, even should Sam make the sacrifice himself. But in the end nothing will be quite as painful as any foresee at the moment.

This is but a small departure from my other stories, you'll find--change one variable and see where it leads.

Oh, this is a wonderful and intriguing beginning. I'm anxious to see what happens next... and what happened earlier. :)

Author Reply: I hope it continues to intrigue, although it will not be all joyful. However, I hope the shadow lifts as it goes forward.

As for what went before--I've changed but one variable in the story as I've visited it before; and of course that changes a good deal else, just in the nature of changing lines of events.

Oh my, Larner! I'm eager to see where you go with this--there are two possible directions, and it's going to be interesting to see which you choose...

And of course, Galadriel is right--that's one stubborn Baggins.

Author Reply: Knowing his Mr. Frodo, Sam can see where this will lead all too well; but he will bear with it for the love he bears.

And on stubborn Baggins indeed!
