This sounds *very* intriguing. The Lady Artanis? Is there some significance to her having one of Galadriel's names? She seems to be a very intriguing character... Sam's mishap reminded me of one of my own fics, though he was a good deal younger in that one. But his reactions to needing help certainly haven't changed--he'll do what good hobbit-sense requires, but it doesn't mean he has to like it, LOL! And why does this bit sound so *very ominous*? Half an hour later a pigeon rose from the stables of the Keeper’s house, circling over the white roof and turning west to where the sun went down behind Mt. Mindolluin. The small message tube tied to her foot contained a short note: The Ringbearer has a bedroom of his own. He rests early. And his right hand is bandaged. Uh-huh. And *Sam's* hand is bandaged...uh-oh... Looking *immensely* forward to more! Author Reply: *laughs* Uh oh indeed. Maybe it is a little too predictable what will probably happen next, but I rarely had such fun diving into the twists of a plot. I'll try to make the rest as thrilling as the beginning, I promise. Thank you very much! Author Reply: Oh -and a blessed birthday and a happy new year!

Sam is delightful, poor hobbit, and I was cheering to see a glimpse of Aragorn's sense of humor - I laughed at his account of finding the abandoned shears and the trail of blood. And what a wonderful description of his voice. Your descriptions are so beautiful they could be paintings, and yet they're not just beautiful but informative and insightful, every one of them carrying meaning as well as sensory input. The exchange between the Lady and her maid was so telling - so now we begin to see what's on her mind. I hope to read more very soon. This is magnificent, Cuthalion. Author Reply: You know, I remembered Aragorn's hysterical monologue beside Merry's bed in the Houses of Healing when the hobbit asks him about the pipeweed (one of my favorite moments in ROTK), and this was clearly something of that kind. And the voice... ah well, I'm a shameless fangirl of both, Viggo Mortensen and Aragorn. Thank you for everything you say; I hope you'll like the rest, too! Cúthalion

Wow. Your descriptions were fabulous, especially your use of color, and this Lady Artanis is chillingly menacing. What a gripping opener. Fantastic. Author Reply: Thank you! The Lady should originally have been a man, btw. The fact that we have an OFC here I owe to jodancingtree who was a priceless help with the plot and many twists of the plot that make me enjoy writing this tale enormously. *smiles* Thank you!

Wonderful. I love your descriptions. They are so vivid. The characterization of Aragorn and Sam are just as I imagined they would be. Artanis feels like a cold, embittered lady. She is scary. She is cooking up something and I know it's no good. You got me from the prologue. I am hooked. I cannot wait for the next installment. This promises to be a wonderful read. Author Reply: What a great compliment! And just wait and see - it might well be that Lady Artanis will surprise you as the tale continues (but you are right when you say that she's embittered). Next week I'll hopefully be able to post the second chapter. Thank you! Cúthalion

I don't think Lady Artanis likes the new king! This is very intriguing. Can't wait to read the rest. Author Reply: Thank you - and I can't wait to write and post the rest! *smiles* Cúthalion
