| This is one miserable bunch of beings here, no two ways about it. Just because everyone is no longer in immediate danger of instant death doesn't mean that life will be pleasant and happy. All seven of the conscious ones are doing yeoman's work supporting each other and keeping spirits up. The hobbits, especially, seem to be providing great comfort, both to each other and to the Big Folk as well. Author Reply: Nice to see you again, Pony! You’re right, everyone’s generally unhappy. It’s been all ‘Hurry, hurry, hurry’ and now it’s suddenly ‘Wait’. Unfortunately, they’re waiting for the Men to catch up with them as much as for Sam and Legolas to get back on their feet… but at least they’re together again. I find the interactions between the different members of the Fellowship to be rich with potential, and I love exploring them. | |
