A fitting explanation for the inspiration for the Riddle of Aragorn.

Sweet moment between mother and son.

This had me in tears. Poor Gandalf. There really is no good answer, is there?

Author Reply: Hi, meckinock

No indeed. And I bet that letter going astray in your story "In the Hands of the Enemy" was inspired by similar thoughts. Am I right? As for that broken sword...that'll have me scratching my head for the next 90 years.

Perhaps it's best not to take too close a look at some of the other plot elements in LotR...

Oh this is so precious! I love this! THere are too few stories about Aragorn's family life in the 4th age! May you write many more! ^_^

Author Reply: My "Bedtime Nightmare" and Gwynnyd's "Pretending" (also at SoA, under her drabbles, I believe chapter 44) are sequels. Very glad you liked it. I'm sure more such stories will turn up as time goes on.

Gwynnyd wrote a lovely vignette about just that. See "Pretending" in her collection of drabbles (I believe it's chapter 44).

Now you come to mention it, I remember that! Delicious.

There is nothing like a child for making sure that you do not take yourself too seriously! Excellent moment for the King of Gondor and Arnor to turn up.

Author Reply: Any man who would name his House "Strider" has to have a pretty good sense of humor. I always figured Aragorn thought Denethor had a point about the "ragged house."

Now that, I'd like to see. Both Legolas standing in for practice - and the result of it!

This is so true, Aragorn deserves many songs to be written about him !

Author Reply: This is a reference to the poem Bilbo wrote about Aragorn:

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Just gave me a thought--maybe I ought to retitle it with a quote from this poem! Thanks for the inspiration.
