Force of Nature  by shirebound 19 Review(s)

Oh, yay, a new chapter! I've been watching for it!

“It’s nothing,” Frodo said airily. “I was scratched by a couple of thorns. Oh, Bilbo!” he cried, his eyes sparkling. “Wait until I show you what I found!” He patted his largest pocket. “Estel hasn’t even seen it yet.”

Mmm, mmm, mm. So many great lines to choose from. The rangers are fantastic. I love them. Merry and Bilbo are awesome . . . they just come to life. And Frodo . . . oh, my optimistic little hero, not knowing what's going to happen to him . . . and a lot WILL happen, right? Lots of scary illness requiring much TLC? That's my favorite part of the story . . . and I have to say I like your fics best because there is so much character development always going on when characters have to pull together. You have such great stories in Q-universe.

I realize that there's lots of TLC and food to be given out, because we have not one but two wounded ones here, but hobbits and rangers are surely the best folks to supply anyone with food and love, right?

Happy typing . . . please update soon . . . thanks, esamen

"Something he had learned about Merry was that the boy needed to be doing -- or thinking about -- something nearly all the time." - That's 100 percent Merry :)

Shirebound, this chapter is great. It has everything a good chapter needs, last but not least: you surprised me! What is it, that Frodo took with him? Is it dangerous? Will it influence him somehow? Can't wait for the next chapter!

I still sense lots of foreboding and I don't think that Frodo's out of the woods yet (ouch, bad joke ;)). I love how you show Bilbo assessing Merry's leadership potential - he must have been so grateful when Merry went along with Frodo on the Quest so many years later :)

I love this sort of AU continuation of your AU story. ;P

I'm glad you're doing an exploration of Frodo's first visit to the Old Forest. That throwaway line of Merry's about Frodo visiting once before, and Frodo's reluctance to discuss it has always intriqued me. I'm really enjoying your take on things. :)

That chapter is just as nasty as the one before... we still know nothing about the thorns - and what is it that Frodo has in his pockets? *is very curious*

It'd be funny if Frodo *didn't* get scratched by Halbarad's thorn and was completely fine -- the end! (But your readers would probably lynch you if you didn't supply them with their angst!)

Thanks for a very enjoyable AU, even if I do get a sugar buzz every time you update! :-)

Eee! I caught up with this story last night in the hopes you would post the next chapter this morning.

Poor Halbarad! I thought it was bad enough that his ankle was broken, but now you say it's compound. Ouch!

Poor Frodo! He's going to need lots of TLC from Bilbo and more than one Ranger, I expect. ;) And what exactly did Frodo find among the bones in the old forest? If I know Frodo (and you) it won't be insignificant. :D

*sits back and waits impatiently for the next chapter*

YAY Scamp! Good puppy! Glad to everyone is safe and out. Now just worrying about the effect the thorns will have on Frodo... *nibbles at nails*

Every once in a while, we have to have these less than dire angsts to entertain us and sooth the place where the mega angst ripped our hearts out.

'sOK... SB level angst is just what I need right now.
