| Oh joy! I love this already! Your little Merry is so fearless and smart. I love the way he immediately thinks a Ranger might be Frodo's Estel! And of course the greeting between Frodo and Estel is lovely and joyous. *sigh* Color me happy! | |

| Another Quarantined-universe-story set in Buckland! *feels immediately at home since German story is taking place there for several years now* Young Merry is characterised wonderfully. He doesn't seem to know any fear and he certainly has his eyes and ears everywhere they don't belong to :) And the last look he and Frodo exchange... I can't wait to read more. | |

| A promising beginning, indeed! You know, I find myself wishing that this were *not* AU but that this friendly, easy relationship existed as you wrote it, and continue to write it. But then, the hobbits' adventure would lose something, I suppose... at least a little bit, considering that they went into the Wild with a Man they didn't know (except for a letter from Gandalf), and the trust that grew between them. Very well. I've talked myself back into my delight in the original version. But I will certainly continue to delight in your version at the same time! *g* The imagination is a wonderful thing. And Halbarad! Hoorah! (How did you come up with the name for the other Ranger?) Was the time when the Dunedain hid in the Old Forest the fall of the North Kingdom? I have no time for reading or writing this week, so I'm glad I was able to sneak this in. Looking forward to more. | |
