The Hunt  by Manderly 55 Review(s)

So good to see another episode in the adventures of this band of brothers. Poor Legolas - so desperate to be grown up. (It seems to me that it is not until you stop wanting to be adult that you have eventually made it.)

Yet I can understand his suffocation at having everybody he knows hovering over him and checking his every move. Perhaps his brothers need to be a bit more subtle!

Though somehow, just somehow, I suspect that this hunting trip is not going to be as smooth as all that - and that having all four sons off together could prove a little stressful for the Woodland King. Looking forward to it!

Author Reply: It's very encouraging to me that readers enjoy reading about this band of brothers - means the readers accept the OCs that I've created.

Legolas is just chomping at the bite, isn't he? And you are so right! One never really becomes an adult until he/she stops wanting it. I've stopped wanting it for years now but I am still growing older (sigh!).

I think his brothers still consider Legolas as a child rather than an adolescent so they are not employing much subtlety. I've certainly learned to deal with my daugher more discreetly now that she is almost an adult.

No, this hunting trip will not be smooth sailing. Plenty of action coming up.

Thanks for reviewing.

Yay, Manderly!!!! A new story, and I agree with others...an early Christmas gift!

All the brothers together, too! Feren needs to loosen up a mite...perhaps time with little brother (and older brothers too) will draw him a bit closer to his family. He seems distant - very much the commander and not much the brother! I loved the dialogue - lots going on between these elven brothers. So Legolas gets to stand watch and the others get to worry! LOL FUN!!!

Great beginning - can't wait for more! (So glad to see Tavarro again - I really came to like him in that last story...and ooooh, I just had a thought (that's scary!), Thranduil has all four sons together at one time, they're out on a hunt, and the youngest is old enough now to consider himself a warrior. I would have a fit if I were him, and drag all four of them home!) :-)

Author Reply: Thank you, thank you!

I have been thinking about a story with all four brothers for some time now but just didn't have a plot for such a story. Even now I am not too sure about the storyline. I am hoping the muse will be kind to me as I continue to write.

I find it quite easy writing about Tavaro - the words just come spilling out of his mouth without much effort from me. I hope I am able to portray each brother well enough that they appear as individuals rather than just another name.

Yes all four brothers together with Legolas huffing and puffing already about being coddled. I think Thranduil must be popping antacids (or its elvish equivalent) by the handful by now.

Hi
This is an early christmas present for me as i adhore your stories!

Cant wait to see if Legolas stirs up trouble again!

I wonder how Thranduil is coping with not just his little elfing from his protective reach but all of his sons!

Author Reply: An early Christmas present? (Deep blushing). Thank you for your kind words!

Even if Legolas does not stir up trouble, trouble certainly finds him. Let's see which is the case this time.

I think Thranduil is working hard on his ulcer which must be coming along quite nicely by now.

Oh good. You're starting another one. Its a holiday gift. :) The dialogue here was really sharp. I liked the brothers teasing each other...and speaking more seriously.

A hunting party and Legolas is already questioning his brother's orders on the first night out. Hmmm. Methinks I spy a bit of trouble on the horizon. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned for Legolas this time.

Author Reply: It's very flattering that you consider this story a holiday gift. Thank you! It's a gift to myself too as it's been a while since I have written anything and I find that I truly miss it.

Legolas certainly wastes no time making his views known, as you can see. Hmmm, methinks you may be right about trouble brewing!

Good for Legolas in standing his ground with Feren, who seems the least accommodating of his brothers. I see trouble coming here though. The desire to prove oneself seldom leads to wise behavior.

Author Reply: My older brother is very much like Feren, very protective and very unaccommodating. I think subconsciously I have modelled Feren after him. Sadly, I think you are right though that trouble is brewing, though it may not be Legolas' doing this time.
