Oh, I liked this chapter. Hobbits and an elf sleeping in the sun, what a sweet picture. Frodo and Pippin are both so stuborn. Thank goodnes, actually, even though it can make dealing with them when they're sick a bit tricky. Nice bit with Merry's abilities. I hadn't thought of his dream as being a foreshadowing of Isenguard. Very cool. As for the writing, it's coming slowly, only five pages so far. The last week has been crazy with all the things that come at the end of the school year--my daughter's, not mine. Oh, to be that young again myself. Wait, maybe not. Looking forward to what comes next in this story. And yes, the comfort part has been wonderful. Connie.

You've given me some food for thought (again!) in this chapter -- on two topics: Merry's dream at Bombadil's house and the implications of Frodo's seeing Gandalf's ring (which reminds us of his ability to see Galadriel's ring after he looked in the mirror). I love it when fics (and their authors) give me something to mull over. Thank you!

I have only one thing to say: brilliant minds think alike. Oh, yes, and I like the though of Frodo trying to keep Pippin in bed while he's just as weak. That would be hilarious!

Glad to see another chapter of this. Do I even need to say that? Hobbits plotting escape from their beds! Hurrah! Tying Tooks to their beds, scandalous! Haven't they heard of sitting on them? Sam looked at Merry. “Do you know what he’s talkin’ about?” “Hardly ever,” Merry sighed. ***Nice scrap of conversation, good for a chuckle “We would hardly want your life to be boring,” Frodo replied. ***The ease of old friends... “Intolerably stubborn,” Elrond grumbled. “I am greatly tempted to hide Frodo’s clothes, assign a full-time guard to Pippin, and remind my son that while immortal, he is not invulnerable.” He sighed. ***Ah, the trials and travails of being a healer... The picture of all three invalids, asleep together. Elladan really ought to be adopted as an honorary hobbit. And "TBC" hoorah! The story goes ever on (or at least, we wish it would)

“Not precisely,” Gandalf said thoughtfully. “The gift of recalling someone from the brink of death may be unique to Aragorn . . . . I am really enjoying the story! I feel like we are all romping in a brand-new field. This is a whole new vector of the LOTR experience while still being true to canon. Thank you! And thanks for the lovely, delicious, soothing, heartfelt H/C! Keep that stuff coming strong! I like the reference to Aragorn very much. Sometimes I feel like his courage and heroic heart gets overlooked, what with all the fun and charm of hobbits, elves, etc. He really is a tremendous man and needs to be honored for the way that he poured out his life, and made so many personal sacrifices, for the sake of Middle Earth. shirebound, may you write forever! I'll be here reading! Thanks again!

Everyone on the mend and Frodo in good spirits. That's good to see and I loved the image of all three of the invalids sleeping together in the sunshine. I'm glad you kept Frodo's reaction to Saruman the same as the book. That dear hobbit has seen too much death and destruction. And knows too well that however strong, there is always someone or something stronger than you are.

Shirebound, you really out did yourself on this chapter. I love the way that you tie it all back to cannon with that line from the books mirroring Frodo's decision. That's our merciful Frodo. We could all take a lesson from him. It was (in my opinion), his greatest asset (his merciful nature). Oh - and thank you for taking such good care of him when he's still weak and sick! Ummmmm! Warm sunshine and blankets! Does it get any yummier? I don't think so! Blessings! cp

Elrond had best keep hiding Frodo's clothes else he will be up before he should!
