Mind to Mind  by shirebound 19 Review(s)

Yet another fantastic chapter in this ongoing story. Evidently Saruman is still capable of mischief, despite losing a great deal of his power.

I laughed at the thought of Gandalf being a 'difficult patient' - one can only imagine how stubborn he could be when the situation called for it.

After reading this chapter, and seeing how Frodo manages to call Merry back using the ring, I admit I am curious to see just what other hidden abilities hobbits might have. It just proves what Gandalf himself said:

"Hobbits are such amazing creatures...you can learn everything there is to know about them in a month, and yet they can still surprise you."

Well done!

I loved this chapter and was please to find that Frodo would me okay--though in my heart I had hoped he would become worse--thus is the mind of the angst writer. Great job. I particulary enjoyed the parts with the trapped Merry when Frodo came to get him!!! As always, it was spectacular. Thank you for giving my nails time to grow back (LOL).

Oh, what a gentle chapter. Frodo calling Merry back was wonderful. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that only a someone so close to him could have brought him back. Oh, and the imagery of being inside a jewel was cool. clever idea that.

Merry worrying about Pippin while Pippin worries about him is so tipical of those two. So, you said to another reviewer that Merry's hidden gift will be revealed, probably in ch.10. I can't wait to see what you have in mind for him. As Gandalf has said before, hobbits really are amazing.

Your response to me at the end of ch.8 finally pushed me to start writing. It's only five pages so far, but it's a start. And I owe it to you. Thanks.

Connie.

*Closes eyes and sighes contentedly*

Ummmmm! This story is so full of yummy things! Sweet, brave, wonderful, adorable hobbits...warm cuddly blankets...conversations in the dark (I LOVE to lay in the dark and talk!)...and comfort, comfort, comfort! That's why we love the 'hurt' part...cause it's always followed by the comfort!

Great job!

Blessings!

Relieved that Merry is safe once more. Interesting that even Gandalf was affected by Saruman, but the wizard did hit a sore spot. The Frodo and Merry scene was interesting - any chance of Merry having a pyschic talent? We already know Sam has a special one - Frododar.

Thank you for the lovely, satisfying read; the gentle, warm comfort poured into this chapter is lovely. You are good at taking care of hobbits, Shirebound, but for a moment there I was worried when Frodo told Merry to walk toward the light and Merry asked why Frodo was not following him. I was so frightened that Frodo had spent his remaining strength trying to call Merry back that he had no energy left to go back... *shivers* By the way, the description of Merry's perception of being trapped in a Ring is well-written, as is the explanation on why Frodo could fight Saruman's ring. And once again, I must say that I adore the memories that Frodo used to reassure Merry of who he was. *Slitherdoc* ... oh! A stroke of genius. And the feel of *family* ... Awww. That's the sweetest part. Thanks again for the sweet and soothing chapter.

TBC? Hoorah!

Wizards are difficult patients? Why am I not surprised?

Pip can always tell how Merry is? A very nice touch.

Merry's experience of being trapped "inside" the ring, and Frodo's leading him out again, were very believable.

Perhaps Celeborn will be able to finish the story after Elrond has sailed?

You have nicely brought this story in for a landing, even lining it up on the shelf, neatly, in such a way that no one could ever tell you tampered with it. It meshes nicely into the original once more, and the canon police sigh and turn over in their sleep without wakening.
