All Is Fair in Love and War  by Chigger 41 Review(s)

I think you captured the feelings of military men perfectly. Though I'm a girl as well, my dad is in the USAF, and has been in combat before, and shortly will be again. He has described the feeling for me, and what you said pretty much matches up. I look forward to the next chapter. I'm really enjoying this story!

Author Reply: Give my best to your dad. I've always been facinated by the Air Force. I'm also glad I captured the feeling right. I don't think I was exactly sure what I was going to write when I started this chapter, and I just put down what came to me. It really didn't even take that long to write, which surprised me.

Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for the feedback.

I kept thinking how hard it must be for Faramir to send his sons and grandson into battle! It is difficult enough to know that your family will be fighting and may not return, but to know that you were the one that sent them!

Author Reply: Let's just say that I don't envy him. Not only is he sending his family to battle in Gondor proper, but he's also expecting to risk the lives of the rest of his sons and grandsons in Ithilien should the South attack there too. It's something that would drive me crazy, I can tell you that right now.

Morwen is so different from her sister. She is calmer and has a very sweet way about her. I enjoyed the way that she managed to keep Eradan in bed with a bit of teasing and stories about herself. She comes off as a natural born care-giver in this chapter. Very nice.

If people reading this story have read "The White Horse and the White Banner", they can see the differences between Morwen and her sister, Hirilian. Both are strong characters, but they are two very different young women. Very like real sisters.

Author Reply: Morwen is very docile. She would be more than willing to live a life as a commoner, raising a nice little family somewhere. Where Hirilian was more the Eowyn type, rather wild at times. (But Ceorl managed to change that with just one letter. Kind of.) ;)

i really love Faramir

hes so cool

i'm still worried about narion

i hope that he comes back alive

and everyone else too

i really hope that there's gonna be a farewell with morwen and eradan

if there is...then i can't wait!

great job!

Author Reply: I can't promise you anything, because Narion is a very reckless person at times, and it *will* get him killed one of these days. I just don't know when or where he's going to get it, yet. ;)

As for Morwen and Eradan, he can't go. (He's not too all-fired happy about that, either.) Since he's still got a pretty nasty and, for the most part, unhealed wound in his shoulder and he can't use his left arm, he has to stay there and get better before he can go fight.

Well, that was short, but well written. Are they off to battle then?

Author Reply: They await only the order to leave, and then they are off.

i love it how morwen is like eradan's caretaker...aw

hehe and i love the part when eradan was hungry...that so reminds me of my brothers

i'm glad that narion is gonna fight...even though i worry about him

Celvandil sounds really cool...i like him

awesome job and can't wait to see more!

Author Reply: Narion isn't exactly afraid of fighting. If you remember, he got tangled up in a fight in Rohan that he didn't even have a stake in. It was just there, and he wanted to fight. He's like that; Belecthor too. ;)

Celvandil is intersting. He's going to be in this story quite a bit. More than usual, anyway.

Actually, my thinking is that Morwen would actually enjoy continuing to look after Eradan. Maybe Faramir knew that in a grandfatherly kind of way. :)

Author Reply: Faramir is rather shrewed, I will agree, but it's also for practical reasons. Let's say that there's some weird thing where a certain treatment wasn't working and even working against the healing process. If they get an entirely new healer, something terrible might happen. O_O

Also, let's just say that Faramir was a young man once, too, and knows that he would have rather liked being tended by someone like Morwen when he was wounded. What more could a man ask for? ;)

Very well done. You could feel the tension in the room during the council meeting. I did not envy Lord Faramir the job of keeping order. I would have rather waited out in the hall with Belecthor. I hope Strider, er, King Elessar is able to wait for help. Also hope you had a Merry Holiday, Chigger.

Author Reply: Elessar was waiting more or less patiently while these political big-wigs fight this out in Ithilien, but he's getting a little impatient, so they better hurry up. :)

I had a blessed Christmas Season, and I hope you did too.

Sounds like a political debate to me. "Let's try doing a bunch of pointless things before doing what needs to be done." Glad Faramir was there to talk some sense into them.
Belecthor reminds me of Rochmir now. Well, not completely. Just the line about wanting to be a simple soldier and not get caught up in politics and what not.

Author Reply: Belecthor's Rohirric blood seems that have taken a pretty deep rooted hold (so did Hirilian's, but that's obvious, considering where she is now O_~). I, personally, don't like debates or politics or anything like that. I'm more of an outside person (when the weather's right) who wants nothing more than to go tearing across an open field on a good horse with a good dog running alongside. Doesn't it sound like fun?

dr_seuss_is_coolReviewed Chapter: 5 on 12/24/2003
aww poor Belecthor

well at least he got to leave eventually

well well well...Ostoher seems like a cute guy....hmmm...19...oolala

great job!

Author Reply: I may just have to bring Ostoher back in, huh? ;) I won't kill him in battle, though. I promise.
