All Is Fair in Love and War  by Chigger 41 Review(s)

Yes, well, if Belecthor is going to try and make her happy, than he had better do it quickly. :)

Author Reply: Give him time, he's working on it. He has successfully lengthened their stay to a few weeks rather than a few days and his plans have been set in motion.

"His face is also marred. Somebody gave him a rather large scrape on the cheekbone. He will have a shallow groove there for the rest of his life."

I think this character just gets better all the time! I am with his wife on this, bet the scar is a very interesting touch! Just hope it wasn't too painful.

I am afraid that Morwen is going to have to go after her young man as he doesn't think he is good enough for her. Am I getting close? That brother of hers could escort her as it is partly his fault that she is in this situation. He was the one that suggested she give up the others that she wasn't serious about. He owes her. LOL

Author Reply: Not *too* painful, but still enough to hurt quite a bit. And then Celvandil pouring alcohol all over it during dinner didn't help much, either. :)

As Belecthor will mention in my next story, he's rather dense and doesn't even realize she likes Eradan, much less loves him. As far as he's concerned, Eradan was just a stranger who got himself hurt and needed their care. Now he's gone and life can go on as before. He's never been in love before, so we'll have to forgive him his ignorance. :)

So how long is it going to be before Eradan comes to his senses and comes back to Morwen?

Author Reply: *SPOILERS* He doesn't come back. And I'll just leave you to worry over that. ;)

I feel so sorry for both of them! Neither one wants to be parted from the other and yet things stand in their way. You better straighten this one out, Chigger. I think you quiet lass has finally found her true love and he just rode away!

Author Reply: Yes, poor girl, he's gone. But do you really think I'm going to leave it at that? Oh, no, we have several more chapters still to go! ;)
Surely you haven't forgotten poor Narion and Belecthor still out there somewhere? They've got to come home before the story can end, don't they? Of course they do. :)

EomerofEastfoldReviewed Chapter: 10 on 1/8/2004
Lol, she should go after him! But, I know that's not like her character. I hope he does come back. I mean, he already almost died once. It would be a shame if he lost the second time around.

Author Reply: What do you expect? He's a Man! :D

No, she's not like Hirilian, who would have saddled her own horse, and not his, so that she could waylay him along he way. Morwen's not as forceful as her sister. :)

I'm with you, I hope he's careful. How foolish can a person get? To nearly get yourself killed, meet a perfectly wonderful woman who would love to spend the rest of her life with you, and then to leave her in favor of nearly getting yourself killed again. O_o

[Narion led his men valiantly, straight into the middle of the enemy forces, his sword flashing in the sunlight, his battle cry ringing through the air.]
My hero! I just love this guy!

[Narion led his men valiantly, straight into the middle of the enemy forces, his sword flashing in the sunlight, his battle cry ringing through the air.]
What an image! I can see this when I read it.

[Narion was offering encouragement and advice, finding those that needed care for their wounds and directing the healers to them.]
Everyone's hero!

[Narion fell to the ground, an arrow protruding from his shoulder, his stallion galloping back to camp.]
Easy now, too close for comfort!

Well, don't just sit there, get Narion to safty and medical attention. He needs you! I will be waiting on the next chapter.

Author Reply: For now, Narion is under the care of Ostoher while I journey back to Ithilien. :) Don't worry, he's a tough little booger with a long happy life ahead of him.

I'm glad you enjoyed the battle. I've always thought of Narion as the leader, warrior type, and so it was only natural that he be the one to charge the very mouth of the beast, even though his father told him not to. ;)

Well, even though I've read it already, good job. :) But, you aren't going to do anyting mean to Ostoher, are you? I've grown to like the guy.

Author Reply: He just seems like a very likable guy, because he's kind of grown on me too. :) No, I plan on using him in my next story, so I can't do anything *too* bad to him.

I don't know about the men reading this, but I felt as if you had been to war when I read it. Are you sure you aren't a soldier on leave writing to pass the time before the next conflict?

I respectfully request that you don't kill Narion in battle as I would be heart-broken. I love the image of Morwen as a bare-foot child seeing him off to battle. He still remains one of my favorites among your characters. Also hope Belecthor isn't getting too sure of himself.

Also love this : ["Do not be ashamed of your tears, my Lady," he said gently. "For the tears of a Lady bring a slight amount of joy to the hearts of men, even as they bring pain. No man wishes to go to war thinking the women of his country do not worry for him, or grieve for him should he die.]
This is my favorite part in the entire story so far. It is like a line from a John Wayne movie! Something the hero says to comfort those left behind! Perfect! Keep it up as it is only getting better.

Author Reply: I'm pretty sure. I'm just a 14 year old girl sitting at home on her computer with a stuffy nose and a bad cough. :)

*Spoilers* I don't plan on killing Narion anytime in the near future. Now . . . it will have to happen sometime, but he'll have reached a ripe old age before I kill him. After all, I like him, too, you know. ;)
I'm sure Morwen was a cute little barefooted kid. I can see her running around like that. I love the little sound of tiny bare feet hitting hard stone floor. :)
And Belecthor knows enough to be careful. He's just a man trying to act tough in front of the ladies. ;) He'll be careful.

When I read that line, I usually don't have all the pauses in the right places for John Wayne to be talking. :) I guess it would have to be something more like this.

"Don't be . . . ashamed o' crying, ma'am," he drawled. "Men LIKE to see a Lady cry . . . when they leave for war. Makes 'em happy . . ., even when it . . . makes 'em sad. They don't like to leave . . . thinkin' . . . the girls don't miss 'em . . . or want 'em t' live." :D

Thanks a lot. Since EomerofEastfold has now been nice enough to read over my battle chapter and let me know that he couldn't find much wrong with it, I plan to post sometime in the next few days. Anyway, here's hoping. ;)

I actually think you captured that feeling quite well. And it's not exactly a feeling unique to men, but rather those born with a warrior's spirit. It isn't a feeling that you can easily put into words. Lord knows I have tried and failed on many occasions. Those without a warrior's soul struggle to understand, and the ones that do understand the way you think and feel almost effortlessly. Some people's feelings are stronger than others, but that's the way I see the world.
I, for one, feel that I would rather take an an army of Orcs armed only with my teeth than to run for the hills.

Author Reply: I'm with you. I may not want to go into battle, and I know I'm never going to enlist in the Army or anything like that, but if some CREEP comes storming into MY house, threatening MY family and tries to KILL us all, I am NOT going to simply let him do so, if I have anything to say about it. I hate it when people act like cowards and let jerks take over their lives. DO something, for crying out loud. Don't run outside and call the police using your cell phone, because by the time they get there, the idiot will have gotten whatever he wants, maybe killed you and already run.

Anyway, that's how all my characters feel too. ;)

i think you did really well with getting the right feeling...i'm not a guy...but i think that u probably did get that feeling

well...i'm glad that Eradan won't be joining them just yet

man...i almost started crying cuz i don't want Narion to leave

i'm gonna cry if and when he dies

aww...and Belecthor...aww

i feel really really bad for Eradan...i wish that he could go into battle...but...i'm still glad that he gets to spend more time with Morwen

really excited to see some fighting

awesome job!!

Author Reply: Eradan's not as happy about staying behind as you are to see him stay. ;) Still, he has to admit that Morwen isn't exactly the worst company he could be keeping. :)

Don't worry. Narion actually wants to go. Of course, like all happily married people, he would rather stay at home with his wife and kids, but he's also a fighting man who loves his job. :)

The next chapter may take a little while. It's going through some extensive editing and such. I'm not very good with battles, really. Still, it's up to five pages so far.
