The White Horse and the White Banner  by Chigger 39 Review(s)

I loved it, Chigger. I didn't get a chance to read it over Christmas break and when I finally got a chance you had completed it so I read it in one fail swoop. You never sounded corny. It was very sweet and tender. I hope I can find someone like Ceorl and live Hilirian's story. The only bad thing is its over. Keep up the marvelous writing.

Thanks, Lisbeth. I'm glad you were able to finish. (By the way, I think that's "fell swoop".)

I'm with you 100%. I want Ceorl, or Eradan, or Belecthor. Any of them will suit me fine. If you're wondering, Eradan's the star of All Is Fair in Love and War, if you haven't started that one yet. It's almost finished. As a matter of fact, it is finished, I just haven't posted it all yet. ;)

My "marvelous writing," as you put it, will continue for some time, thanks in part to Grey Wonderer who keeps raising plot-bunnies and giving them to *ME* to take care of. :) I have four more stories in the works. (My burners are all taken up, front and back. I don't know which ones to work on! O_O)

Thanks again!

I have enjoyed every miniute that I have spent reading your stories. You have introduced a Hobbit person to the world of men quite nicely. I also would be lost without your reviews of my stories. I always look forward to what you will have to say. Keep writing, I have you on my list of alerts so that I don't miss anything new.

Author Reply: Hopefully, my next story will begin its posting process sometime in the near future. I have most of the beginning chapters written and the rest more-or-less planned out, but I still need to proof-read them. :)

I, too, enjoy your stories and love reaviewing them. I used to be all Elves, because I was around Coriel, but then I began branching out and found the Men a lot more interesting (as far as writting about them goes), and then I started reading your stories, and now I'm interested in pre-quest Hobbits. So basically, I have no preference anymore, but I don't think I'll be able to write about anyone other than Men. :)

Thanks again for all your reviews. :D

Chigger, this is perfect! It Lets us know how happy they are and how wonderful their lives are. Now I may get attached to the children and have to have a story about them. I love the chatter-box, Harding and his quiet brother, Widfara together. Think they would be at odds and yet make a strong pair!

Oh, found a small spelling problem , ( with a filial kiss ) I am guessing this was a typo? I know how you are when it comes to correct spelling!

Author Reply: I love little kids, and I just had to put them in. :) I'll have to mull the idea of a story centered around them. I hadn't thought of that. But yes, Harding and Widfara are one of those pairs that find each other weird, and can't understand each other, but they'll grow up to be a rather clannish family, if you get my meaning. If you take on one of them, you better be prepared to take on them all, even Eowyn. ;)

As to "filial," here's your word of the day.

filial - adj.
Of, relating to, or befitting a son or daughter: filial respect

Nice. Very nice. Interesting, convincing people, romance deftly carried off. Only one suggestion: Aldor's monologue in Ch 6 would probably go better if you used simpler language.

Author Reply: I would love to use simpler language, but I don't think that's really how they spoke. You know, you can't stick in contractions or very much slang, which is hard, and you have to use the words of the day. So even some words that I found in the thesaurus wouldn't work because they weren't used in the right time-periods. My older brother thinks both Coriel and I are idiots and too devoted to detail, but that's just how Coriel is, and living with her for fourteen years has made me that way too. :)

What a lovely end to a nice story. I do hope you will write another one soon.

Author Reply: Working on one as we speak. But I don't think Rohan or any of her people will make an appearance. Mostly Gondor and one or two Elves.

I am so glad that you included the part where she asks Belecthor what he thinks of everything. I enjoyed the relationship between them. It is nice to read about a close, happy, family. There is also a great deal of humor in this chapter which I love. The part about having withstood many charges when he is warned he might be knocked down when she greets him was priceless! I enjoy these characters very much and hope you do more with them. Also, throughout this story, I have enjoyed Legolas's friendship with Ceorl's mother. Take care and keep writing.

Author Reply: Hirilian and Belecthor are very close. They were the only two kids for about two years. Then Morwen was born. Therefore, while being close with Morwen, too, they share a special relationship. I just hope Belecthor doesn't run off to Rohan after she gets married. :)

He was startled by Narion who had pulled away from the family to bid Ceorl farewell in private. "Ceorl, my boy," he began, "I know how hard this parting is for both of you, but I can see that you both understand the necessity of it. She is young yet and I am only a worried father, watching his children grow too swiftly for his sentimental old heart’s content.

Can I tell you how much I love the father in this? I know I have mentioned it before, but thought that it would be alright to repeat myself!

Author Reply: I'm glad Narion has a fan besides myself. I was hoping he would come off, not as the bad guy in the story, forcing the two young people to wait in agony, but rather as the loving father he is. I'm just overjoyed to know that it worked. :)

I think that this chapter was wonderful practice for Ceorl, Captain of the Riddermark, lots os "I do's" said during the ceremony so he will be ready for the wedding. Just hope the bride is getting a chance to practice.

I am ahppy to review and to read your stories. I never fail to be entertained by them. Until I started reading your fictions, I hadn't given much thought to the humans in all of this, but I do now.

Author Reply: Don't worry about Hirilian. Women being what they are, she no doubt already has the entire wedding planned out in her head and she's got her lines memorized. :) Ceorl's probably going to wait until the day before to even think about it. :D

Glad you enjoy them. I'm now working on two more stories which you have inspired. You said Belecthor should have a girl friend, and so I'm currently working on that. The next story to go up will be centered around Morwen, though. She's cute. :)
