What a good idea to use the palantir. I like it that Aragorn will not do it in secret.

AH! You just left it there!? I've been reading this over the last few days, and I really enjoy it! I can't wait to hear what happens next, and what is happening to poor Pippin!
God bless,
Ellie

This is so amazing! I love the care Elrond is taking for Frodo!

And now, they have at *least* located Pippin, even if they haven't managed to extract him from danger yet! Wow!

“It is worse than we feared.”

Great way to end this chapter and to create yet another new cliffhanger!

I really cannot decide whether it is good or bad news that the chief Orc is dead now. It is good that there is now one Orc less to deal with, but I think those other two are much more impulsive and could kill our poor little Pippin from one minute to the next.

I'm glad that Aragorn decided to use the Palantir, and that it worked. Of course, *this* Palantir *knows* Pippin.

So, let's hope they will ride (or run) as fast as possible to rescue Pippin. And if they happen to meet Merry on their way, I'm sure he will join them. And they would have difficulties if they asked him to stay behind. Lots of difficulties ;-)

Frodo will be fine, I hope, with Elrond, Sam and now Gandalf keeping watch over him.

Thank you, Budgie :)

Another great chapter, Budgie! You are the master of suspense (and cliffhangers, as we all know).

It is wrong to wish ill upon others, but seeing how this is fiction, I hope the twins' horses do get to nip at Lammor, whom I feel no remorse for at this juncture. That little scene with Elladan, Elrohir, and their stallions made me smile.

Poor Pippin, I hope he is able to reach safety soon.

I really loved your interaction between Gandalf and Aragorn in this chapter. Like a true guiding hand, Gandalf must realize when it is time to let those whom he sought to lead against Sauron for so long stand on their own. He has done his job--now it is time for him to step back and let the seeds he planted in others take root and grow.

“My friend,” Aragorn said more gently, “You have guided my steps all my adult life, and together with our Fellowship we helped bring an end to Darkness. But Frodo was the one who finished it. I owe it to him to use every tool at my disposal to find Merry and Pippin.”

.....Gandalf smiled then, and the love he bore the King was in his face. “Elessar Telcontar,” the wizard said, “the time is past when this old wizard dictated your steps. You are the King of Men, now. And the small hobbit who made that possible needs me, as you do not.” Aragorn returned Gandalf’s smile slowly and stepped back.

Those two parts were some truly wonderful and heartfelt dialogue. Excellent writing, Budgie!

Cool! That was neat how Aragorn decided to use the palantir with good intentions. I just hope nothing bad comes of it. For as Gandalf said, “Using such a thing of Power is never without cost. I know Aragorn will not have forgotten such after the whole journey to destroy the One Ring, but you have also made his desperation to find the missing hobbits very palpable. And so the use of the palantir becomes less risky from a certain perspective and persuasion.

I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next chapter, Budgie! I'm eager to see Gandalf reunited with Frodo and Sam ... and see if Elrond needs his help in regards to hobbits. :D

Aw poor little Pippin!being led away by ugly old orcs, who are just hungry for Hobbit lunch(or dinner), Aragorn was brave looking into the palantir, Im glad he could handle it and will hopefully be saving Pippin soon before he loses any body parts!!! be waiting for more!

Yay! They know where Pippin is! Sort of. Now let's just hope they can get there in time to keep Pippin from becoming finger food. Ugh. Poor Pippin. He's going to be in major need of therapy after this. lol *hugs Pippin*

I loved the twins teasing the man they captured and threatening him with horse bites. :D I don't blame Merry for being angry with him in the least. It's understandable that he would want the man to pay for kidnapping Frodo and causing all this mess.

At least the leader is gone, and they know where to seek now. Now to get to him. Am glad the Elves reproved Merry for his bitterness.

Such a wonderful range of emotions in this chapter!! I love it when the palantir can be used for good, and yes, it would know young Peregrin Took.

MEWD, Budgie!!
