My lord Mahal, hear the plea of your humble servant, Gimli Glóin's son.

Gandalf has gone, and Frodo; and where Frodo is, there is Sam. Mandos has claimed Boromir, and dear Merry and Pippin, and now Aragorn as well. And Legolas is nearly ready to sail.

Soon all that is left of the Fellowship on Middle-earth will be one old Dwarf, mumbling into his beard and boring the youngsters with tales of old heroics.

I beseech you, Lord, do not let it end like that. Let me be with my friends, if not one way, then the other.
