Crowned at last and with Arwen's hand in mine, I approach the four small figures standing on a raised area amid the crowd. They look on me solemnly, and slowly bow.

This will not do. Do they not realize that none of us would be standing here if not for them? That the strategies of the great would have come to nothing if not for the courage, love, perseverance, and mercy that these hobbits have shown?

I smile. "My friends, you bow to no one," I say.

And as they glance up, puzzled, my queen-to-be and I lower ourselves in reverence and gratitude.
