My eldest brother introduced me to Tolkien when I was thirteen. As an English major I was facinated by his creative use of language. Add to that my abiding passion for history and it's easy to understand why I became such a fan of the professor's work.
Now, some thirty-seven years later I am still in love with Tolkien's universe, and grow even more enamoured with it as I delve ever deeper into his extended writings, a good number of which have been published since his death.
I love doing research, and enjoy the challenge of creating characters who can blend seamlessly into the cultures and realms of Middle-earth, always being mindful of the fanfiction writer's credo to "do no harm" to Tolkien's creation.
