· Chapter 19: To the Beloved Son of my Heart
Yes, love is the theme that holds all things together. And it was for love that Elrond was able to give up his daughter and allow her to make her choice.
Author's reply
I hope so that Aragorn was able to fulfill all of his atar's wishes for him. Thanks so much, and I hope so to see you next week.

· Chapter 21: Words Spoken too Soon
A fitting end.
Author's reply
Ah, but if only it HAD been the end for Sauron. True, he could no longer take on the shape of a body capable of beguiling others, but he continued in nastiness and his determination to overwhelm all others to his will. Thanks so, Lindelea.

· Chapter 23: Rescue Initiated
Ah, yes, be ready, Aragorn!
Poignant, that Gandalf included Gollum in his list of those he would seek.
Author's reply
For all I believe he knew that Smeagol would not survive the destruction of the Ring, still I always felt he still would wish to rescue him, or at least his body, for a decent burial. But even the poor creature knew he would "die into the dust" when the time came.

· Chapter 22: Left Alone
Yes. How sad. I'm sure that this changed him, forever. She was his light and his joy, and the world must have been a darker, grimmer place from this moment forward. Alas, poor Denethor.
(I think that is why I made an OC his namesake, and made the man the direct opposite of the Steward... full of mischief, and joy. But of course, everyone called him "Denny" because he was so different from the Man his parents honored by naming him so.)
Author's reply
Some deal fairly well with the loss of a beloved spouse while others do not. And I am glad your Denny was as he was, perhaps what his name-father was intended to have been.

Alas for Denethor - and their sons, bereft now from their mother's love.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Or at least this is how Denethor saw them, at the least. Thank you so, Antane.

Thank God for Gandalf and Aragorn!

Oh, I so agree! Happy Easter!
Author Reply: I agree, as you know. And thank the Father for Gollum, too.

· Chapter 20: Unprepared
Oh, how I would love to read a full length story of Erandil's voyage!
Author's reply
I have so many other stories to finish before I'd dare begin that one! Thanks! Glad it leaves one wanting more.

· Chapter 18: Importuned
Bless Hobbits! What would this world be like without them? Most likely far too solemn, I suspect.
That's it, exactly! Hobbits are born survivors and know how to make the best of any situation. Besides, they have a talent to make you smile :-)
Author's reply
Oh, you have nailed it right on the head, Andrea! Thanks!

Love it! Glad we don't have to discover what the world would be like without hobbits.

The Master certainly gave us quite a gift when he brought them to our attention.

LOL! Aragorn must have hard put to it not to laugh when Merry made his request. =)

· Chapter 15: Betrayed!
Ah, the dreadful moment captured in a nutshell. Great stuff. Another way Sauron defeated himself that they were aware of what he did.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Oh, yes--as Gandalf notes, all too often evil manages to injure itself when it seeks to hurt others. Sauron didn't always learn from his mistakes.

Oh, yes--he has indeed become one of the Wise now!

· Chapter 17: "I Was Mistaken"
Well, this is a very neutral statement. But it is Paladin Frodo is talking to, the hobbit who did not believe his son a single word of what he told him of the quest.
So I think that there were at least some men (and women) who Frodo considered as his equals ;-)
Author's reply
I agree, and Frodo did find some Men who were worth caring about. Yes, there were fools and idiots, but they have never been in the majority, thank heavens!

· Chapter 16: Lingering Too Long
But the One Ring doesn’t release Its bearers as did the Dwarven ones.
That makes me shudder, too. Sadly there was no chance for Smeagol to survive the destruction of the Ring.
Author's reply
It's a pretty grim thought, I agree. At least Smeagol took the Ring with him, and It had no chance to hurt anyone else other than Its Master.

· Chapter 14: How Could I Love but One Best?
Wonderful! I wished we could live with the seasons like Sam does. But today there are so many other interfering things, that it seems to be impossible.
Author's reply
Each season does bring its special delights as well as its particular problems. But Joy seems to dominate the pains for the most part, and we can be content with that, I think.

· Chapter 10: "There's No Place like Home"
"It’s where I was planted" - I love this. How very Sam to think in those terms. :)
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
I so agree, Antane. Sam especially would appreciate the metaphor.

· Chapter 12: The Offer of Redemption
This is the greatest evidence that Frodo had grown so much - going from wishing Bilbo had killed Gollum, a stranger Frodo had never met, to giving mercy and forbidding revenge against someone who had just tried to kill him, a stranger he met in the most terrible way. His heart had completely changed, a good that the Ring never intended but through which he learned much.
Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
One can choose to recoil from life, to hate those who offer such evil behavior, or to gain in compassion, and that was Frodo's choice in the end. Well deserved was his acceptance amongst the Wise, don't you agree?

· Chapter 6: Comfort in Music
Ooh, I love this! Such great use of the way Tolkien portrays water as carrying messages in his mythology. Poignant but lovely image of Frodo too. Thanks!
Author's reply
Thank you. With patrons such as Osse and Uinen, Frodo should always get at least some word of those he left behind, at least. And I love Tolkien's intimation that water of all elements most clearly holds echoes of the Music of Creation within it.

· Chapter 1: Begetting Fire
Well that was...appropriately ominous. *gulp*
Beautifully written and atmospheric. I love how you played out the fire imagery!

Thank you so! One of the more serious and ominous stories in the Sil, of course, so I'm glad my drabble appears to suit!

· Chapter 12: The Offer of Redemption
I like this very much.
From Frodo's POV there is no "true evil". Everyone deserves a second chance to start a new, better life.
That has nothing to do with a lack of experience. It is an attitude and a belief!
Author's reply
How well you put it, Andrea! Thanks for this insight!

To save Boromir's honor let's just say that after the fit of laughter passed, he immediately went over to help his brother and the poor baker ;-)
