Eruanna · 15 December 2003 · Chapter 12: Don't let me die here
Awwww! 'Don't let me die. Don't let me die here.' Powerful! And poor Lothgil! Things seem to be falling apart for almost everybody. (And literally for the Easterling!) *shudder* There is one grammar detail that has come to my attention. Take the following sentence from your story: “Get Legolas.” He ordered. In this case, I believe the proper way would be, "Get Legolas," he ordered. When someone's quote would normally end in a period, but there is a tag ('he ordered'), it ends instead with a comma, and 'he' would not be capitalized. If it were a question, the quote would of course end with a question mark, but the 'he' would still remain uncapitalized. Just to let you know. Keep writing!
Author's reply
lol. Yes literally falling apart. lol. Thanks for the grammer check up. I'm not exactly the best when it comes to grammer. :-\ But I am gald you like the story! Thanks for the review and the correction!
Nikara · 13 December 2003 · Chapter 12: Don't let me die here
Poor baby! He needs lots of help, fast! I'll admit, I get sort of confused between all of the different elves we have met here, especially all of Legolas' siblings. More soon please!
Author's reply
Yes, poor baby. He does need quite a lot of help. I'm sorry that you get confused. Isn't my intention of course. I know he does seem to have a lot of siblings. But then again so do I, so I can totally relate. Legolas' siblings are. Lomion and his wife Lainiel. Thalion and his wife Miriwen. Loriel and her husband Galador. Tasari and then last but not least Lothgil. Six children in all. A nice little rounded sum;-) I myself have twelve siblings. And nine nieces and nephews. Try that on for size!

The suspense! LOL! This is a gret story!
Author's reply
Thanks! I'm glad that the suspense isn't too much or too little. I needed it to get it just right for that chapter and I am pretty well pleased. :-D Thanks for the review!
daw the minstrel · 13 December 2003 · Chapter 12: Don't let me die here
Wow, your fierce Thranduil is something. I loved him! And I am also taken with this vulnerable Legolas who doesn't want to die. Great chapter, Faith.
Author's reply
(blush) Thanks. I tried hard to portray him and I was rather pleased at how his reactions turned out. I was a bit afraid of going overboard, but from the reactions I got here and FF.net, most have liked him so far;-) Luckily for me of course;-D Yes, Legolas has been through much, but he doesn't want to die. I am already writing ahead trying to get the right emotions for him. Right now I have a total of four complete back-to-back pages written and then tossed in the garbage. lol. But thanks for the review!
JS · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 11: I thought I'd lost you
Ack!!! You can't leave it there! Please, please, post more soon! Don't torture your poor readers! ;)
Author's reply
Well, it seems I've ruffled more than a few feathers. ;-) Nearly everyone has been begging me to post soon as possible, but have no worries. I have it entirely written and might post on Friday. If not, then on Saturday like usual. The next chapter will be a little bit better. Trust me;-) Thanks for the review!
Nikara · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 11: I thought I'd lost you
That is horrible! I can't believe that you left us like that. That is an amazingly bad place to leave off. Please add more soon.
Author's reply
Sorry:-\ It was a rather mean thing for me to do, but I couldn't resist! Come on, can you truly blame me? lol. Thanks!
Eruanna · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 11: I thought I'd lost you
Oh my! Poor Legolas. He gets whipped, he gets kicked, he gets threatened, he gets whipped some more, and now he gets thrown off a cliff! Lovely! ;-) Poor Adoril! A most noble sacrifice; I am proud of him. Too bad he didn't live to know that... ;-) *breathes a sigh of relief* Good, good. I am now fully confident that Legolas does not become involved in someone else's sexual sin. You had me worried there! (But that was your point, wasn't it?) Anyway... ADA TO THE RESCUE!! Yeah!!! Once again, very nicely written, plot development coming nicely... Post soon!
Author's reply
Yes, poor, poor Legolas. And yes he is currently hanging in mid-air waiting for me to write the next chapter. Yes and poor Adoril. He paid his king his greatest submission by dying for him. So sad. No, Legolas will not be forced into someone else sexual sin. Sorry I worried you, I actually worried a lot of people, but don't worry;-) And yes, that was the point. And yes Ada and Big brother to the rescue! lol. Thank you so much!
daw the minstrel · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 11: I thought I'd lost you
It was very thrilling to see Thranduil ride to the rescue, but things do not seem to be going well. I enjoyed seeing Thalion confounding the Lorien elves with his archer.
Author's reply
Yes very thrilling to see Thranduil ride off to the rescue. But unfortantly not everything turned out as well as he had hoped. I know I have to be scaring you. This new development is almost worst than Legolas' nightmare in chapter 1. But trust me with this;-) He will get out safe and sound, mentally, spiritually, physically, and any other ways. lol. Yes, I read a little bit about archery, so I thought that I would have Thalion show Haldir how archery is really done;-) Thanks for the review!
Aly · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 11: I thought I'd lost you
And Legolas' torment goes on and on! Just when he should be rescued, he gets thrown off a cliff! And Adoril dying for his king made a nice little touch, but how will that one effect Legolas? He's going to have a lot of physical and emotional healling to do once his ordeal is over. I'll enjoy reading how you work it all out! Keep it up.
Author's reply
Yes, indeed it does. Wow. I can't believe that I'm actually worrying you guys a bit! Yes, Legolas is indeed going to have a lot of physical and emotional healing, with his family right beside him. Yes, I was rather sad that Adoril died, but am glad he died for his king. I wanted to stand up and cheer while tears were pouring down my face lol. Just kidding. Yes, my 'working' it all out will be a challenge. But I look forward to it! Thanks.
Eruanna · 5 December 2003 · Chapter 10: When all hope is lost
NOOOOO!!!! EVILEVILEVIL!!!! You can torture Legolas; you can beat him into unconsciousness as often as you want; but please, please not that! NOT THAT! No one should have to suffer that, though too many do anyway. I'm all for Legolas angst, but please don't go there! It is a most vile form of sin. Please don't put Legolas through that! It is, however, your story, therefore you are free to do whatever you want. (Ahhh, freedom!) ;-) Poor Thalion... He lives up to his name quite well, considering the circumstances. I must say, I am touched by Legolas' selflessness and honor. It is the way I portray him in my own stories. Ahh, the stubbornness and fortitude of the Greenleaf family! Post soon!
Author's reply
lol. Hey no worries mate! No rape. No rape. I also like Legolas angst, but there should be a line drawn somewhere. I mean, he's been whipped, captured, tortured, kidnapped, beaten, made a slave, raped, ect. ect. The list goes on! Though my Legolas does get a little beaten, he will always come out the better for it. At least I hope so. lol. Yes, poor Thalion. And yes he does live up to his name. I hope all my characters do. Awww! Thanks! Yes, portraying Legolas in such a vunerable position was rather tough, but the real question is. Would you do the same thing? Very thought provoking, that's for sure. And yes, the complete stubbornnes and fortitude of the Thranduillion's. And the girls too. ;-) Thanks!
Nikara · 29 November 2003 · Chapter 10: When all hope is lost
Hooray for longer chapters! This one was very well done. I feel so sorry for poor Legolas, and his poor brother. I love the images that Galadriel saw in her mirror! Very nicely done!
Author's reply
Yes, horray for the longer chapters! I just have to write them now lol. Thank you, I was actually a bit hesitant to post it. I was afraid some people might get upset at what I wrote about Lothgil. Fortunatly there hasn't been anything negative. Yes, poor Legolas and Thalion. But don't worry, they will soon be set free. Thanks! I always loved Galadriel and her mirror and just had to add them in. Thank you so much! You have lifted my spirits up so much. Thank you.
Aly · 29 November 2003 · Chapter 10: When all hope is lost
And their off to the rescue! But just what is Legolas going to have to endure until they get there? I don't know how those Novices can sit there and watch what's happening to Legolas. I understand why they are not doing anything, but still I can only imagine how hard it would be to sit and watch your friend and captain being torchered to save you and your people. I'm very impressed with your Legolas. And poor Thalion, can he be hurt anymore...first all his grief and guilt and now he can't even go to help his little brother! Now, question...wouldn't Tasari have said something when he heard about Legolas being taken by the Easterlings, since Legolas told him about his dream? Or maybe you could have him mention Legolas' dream to one of the others that are still at home...that could be a nice little conversation for a few of the kids. :) Can't wait for more!
Author's reply
Actually, the Novices aren't watching Legolas get tortured. He has been in a tent all the times that he has been tortured. Only Adoril knew what had been done to Legolas, until Legolas was dragged outside. Yes, it has got to be very hard for them to have to watch, but Legolas did order them not to. And Adoril is mainly having the novices as far away from Legolas as possible so that they can't get any ideas in their heads. Thanks! Yes, poor Thalion. Don't worry, his anguish will soon end. And grief and guilt. lol. And don't worry, he'll get a chance to help Legolas. Actually Tasari really hasn't thought much about the Easterlings. His mind has been on horses and his girl. lol. But don't worry, he will soon piece together some things that will help Legolas in the future. But yes, there will be some conversation at home with his siblings. ;-) Thanks for the review!

I love your story!! write more! write more!
Author's reply
Thanks! I plan on it! :-)
Nikara · 23 November 2003 · Chapter 9: Words of Despair
Sorry, I must have referred to the wrong artist. This was a great chapter. Finally Thranduil has gotten word about Legolas. He can get help! I was a bit confused about the allusion you made with Elrond. Could you explain it please?
Author's reply
That's ok. I like Michael W. Smith's music as much as I like Steven Curtis Chapman's. :-) As for the allusion, Elrond, Galadriel and Gandalf all have rings of power. Gil-Galad gave Elrond his ring of air, and Cirdan gave Gandalf his ring of fire. If you didn't know already. Thalion is just remarking that Mirkwood has no help in guarding the realm. And he is a bit bitter about it as well. Hope that that explains it! Thanks!
Eruanna · 23 November 2003 · Chapter 9: Words of Despair
As I said before: I LOVE IT!!! Excellent writing; it has a plot; and on top of that it's got LOTS of Elvish angst!!! *gasps as she reads reviewer responses* OOOOHHH!!! LOTRFaith, are you a Christian too?? (And I'm so glad the Legolas has fast-growing hair!) ;-) Anyway, very good! I look forward to the next chapter. Post soon!
Author's reply
Thank you, thank you. (blushes modestly) And yes, I am a Christian. ;-) I'm glad to hear you are too! Yes, Legolas has fast growing hair. So don't worry, he will have his hair back soon. lol. Thanks!
JS · 23 November 2003 · Chapter 9: Words of Despair
I just found this story a little bit ago. Awesome job! And yea! Thranduil knows and is going to go kick some Easterling butt! Can't wait to read the next chapter. Hope it's out soon!!
Author's reply
Thank you! Yeah, Thranduil is going to kick some serious Easterling butt. lol. I am so looking foward to writting that little chapter. lol. Thanks for the review!
Aly · 22 November 2003 · Chapter 9: Words of Despair
Thalion definately has guts! But I like how none of them really took offense at it. And it's good to know that help is finally on the way for Legolas. I wouldn't want to be on Thranduil's bad side. ;) Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Yes Thalion definately has guts. lol. I think the council all knows that Thalion is suffering and even more they understand that he is suffering and only wants to help him. Yes, help is on the way for Legolas. And no I wouldn't want to be on Thranduil's bad side either. lol. Thanks!
daw the minstrel · 22 November 2003 · Chapter 9: Words of Despair
I rather like Thalion. He is very much like his father. But you need to get Legolas out of there soon. I wonder what is up with Lothgil? Is someone else writing the letters? PS. I think that 'mae govannen' is spelled like that.
Author's reply
Well thank you. I rather like Thalion myself;-) I also like your own characters.:-) Yes Legolas will soon be getting out of there. No worries mate!:-) Lothgil is in for a rather unpleasent surprise, I'm afraid. But you'll have to wait for the chapter to find out what. lol. Thanks for the spell check. I'm changing it as soon as I'm done here. Thanks!
Nikara · 17 November 2003 · Chapter 8: Six feet from the edge
I'm glad you like my name. I sort of made it up. At least it is a name that is rarely copied. Great two chapters. I love the songs that you are using, especially the Michael W. Smith one. Keep it up, I have a feeling that the next chapter will be nice and angsty!
Aly · 17 November 2003 · Chapter 8: Six feet from the edge
Yay, a whole Legolas chapter. It's sad to see what he's going through, but so honorable to see what he's willing to deal with in order to keep the others safe. I can't wait for the next chapter. All I know is that I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of the elf who has to tell Thranduil that Legolas was taken captive. Keep up the good work!
daw the minstrel · 17 November 2003 · Chapter 8: Six feet from the edge
This is going from bad to worse! Poor Legolas. But he has such dignity. Why did his new 'owner' beat him and cut his hair?
Aly · 8 November 2003 · Chapter 7: A slave to no one
Nice chapter! It was good to see not only more of Legolas, but also more into Thalion's character as well. I agree with Daw that adding in the part with Thalion trying to find his wife's scent adds a great humanity (if that applies to elves. ;)) to the chapter. One question: I'm pretty sure your missing a word (more likely a number) here. "Out of the twelve warriors that had originally started on the mission only remained and two of them were wounded horribly." That caught me up for a few wondering just how many of the twelve were still alive. So if you get a chance to correct that, you might want to. I'm really loving your story and can't wait for the all Legolas chapter. :D I'm definatly a Legolas angst freek. *L*
daw the minstrel · 8 November 2003 · Chapter 7: A slave to no one
Oddly enough, what touched me the most in this chapter was Thalion seeking the smell of his wife. They say that smell is very evocative, calling forth deep memories. I can see why he longs for her, given how he is despairing. That's the power of the Nazgul, I think, to drive people to fear and despair and Thalion has been up close. I like the support that Legolas is getting from his fellow warriors, but he's taking quite a battering, poor guy!
Nikara · 4 November 2003 · Chapter 6: We danced anyway
Great chapter. My poor Legolas is in even more trouble now. Someone better go save him soon!
