daw the minstrel · 28 February 2004 · Chapter 19: The hope within us...

Yay! Lothgil and Thorinell are finally kissing. Thranduil is wicked to torment them like that. I love strong Lomion who can command but also take care. If you have told us the source of Thalion's scar, I have forgotten or missed it and now I am curious. Legolas sounds as if he is in bad shape and I am worried but probably not as worried as Thranduil is. Actually, all of your Thranduilions are charming.

Author's reply

lol... Yes they are finally kissing, but hey Thranduil needs to have a little fun once in a while;-) I'm glad you like Lomion. He is very much like my older brother;-) About Thalion's scar... lol... *Thalion shook his head. “Ith not a thcar, it’s a birthmark. Here.” He loosened his tunic at the top and pulled it to the side to reveal a two inch white puckered line of skin. “Everyone thinkth ith a thcar but I athked not only my Adar but my Naneth as well. Ith a birthmark, not a thcar.”* Let me translate: Thalion shook his head. “Its not a scar, it’s a birthmark. Here.” He loosened his tunic at the top and pulled it to the side to reveal a two inch white puckered line of skin. “Everyone thinks its a scar but I asked not only my Adar but my Naneth as well. Its a birthmark, not a scar.” Yes Legolas does sound like he is in very bad shape, but don't worry. All will be alright in the end. I hope... (blushes) Thanks.

Hi. This is my first reveiw even though I've been reading off of this site for monthes. I guess you could call me one of those "silent lurkers" that I know are out there. I just wanted to say that this has always been of my favorite stories on the site and still is. This chapter is great. Keep going, I can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's reply

Hi! :-) I know exactly what you mean. I like to be one of those 'silent lurkers' as well... but thanks for popping out! :-) I'm glad you enjoy my story and hopefully I can get the next one up in a more timely manner. Thanks for reading!

Eruanna · 20 February 2004 · Chapter 18: Just for...

Wow! Sometimes my life is so busy that I wonder how I find time to live! The description of the land at the beginning is quite well done! It's a vivid picture. ;-) Ohh, poor baby! I guess Lomion does need to pound it into Legolas' head one more time! Hmm...*ponders how in the world something four feet tall can change the future* Who knows...I can't think of anything. ;-) Now, we could get really philosiphical (ahh! Spelling nightmare!) and debate whether or not the future is something that can be "changed" per se, but rather something can be merely "shaped"...but let's not. At times it bugs me when people say that something changed the course of history...sometimes it seems like that doesn't really work. But then, people are always telling me not to read so deeply into things. ;-) Ohh. Ouch. We've got a hurting Elven king on our hands! The wording in those passages really portrays his emotions very well. I had to kind of skim some of those paragraphs...it was painful reading. Well done, but still painful. I recently wrote a fic dealing with a child's innocence, and this really clarifies the point in my mind. The idea of the story was that children shouldn't know that people kill each other out of hate. But (this story was set in Greenwood), when darkness threatens, children have to understand evil in order to survive in an evil world, right? That was the gist. *blushes* Um, anyway, those paraghraphs reminded me of that. That was a bit off the point... ;-) //Thranduil knew exactly what he was doing in front of him.// That was actually kind of funny...I don't know if it was supposed to be, but it really kind of was. Thranduil's anger is so real. The affection is very touching. ;-) *gasps* Oh! Twins?!?!?!?!? *sqeals* How exciting! Hmm...pipeweed, huh? I hope Thalion's getting better, but it sure is hard to tell with you. ;-) *shakes her head* Thorinell, Thorinell. Looking forward to seeing what's going to happen now! Ohh! Poor, poor Legolas! *sob* It just never ends, does it? Yeah! I know what it's like to live in a place that no one's ever heard of before. I live in this tiny place in Minnesota called Circle Pines, and I really have no idea where it is. ;-) A lot's happened since I last reviewed, not least of which is that I managed to fall head over heels for this guy in my youth group...;-) It's not fair though, he's three years older than me! I was at the library, and I step out of the aisle and there, standing at the little automatic check out thing is this guy. I said hi, and we started talking, and all of a sudden I can't say a single coherent thing...oh well. He probably already knows I'm a complete idiot. We both walk out of the library, he walks to his *car* (I'm not even old enough to do *that*!), and I'm just walking down the sidewalk, slapping my forehead, berating myself because I'm not quite as ditzy as that conversation probably made me sound...*blushes* Sorry. Just had to unburden my heart. ;-) More please! (Wow! Record-long review!)

Author's reply

Whew!!! Sorry I haven't replied sooner, everytime I try, I get interupted... So here we go again:-) Well... Think of it this way... History is defined by those who have changed the world for better or worse. Take for instance William Bradford. He defied a king, sailed away and changed history as we know it. Without William Bradford and many others, we might instead be French or Spanish. Or George Washington and the others who defied the king. They changed the course of their world, if not we still might be under the English throne. Sure people have shaped the world, but others have changed the world. Some for better some for worse. Frodo changed the evil course of the world but destroying the One Ring and in doing so, the light returned to the land. But... My opinion shouldn't shadow your own;-) Yes, very hurting Elven King... It was extremely painful to write and I found myself rather depressed after that particular chapter. Your story sounds very intreging. (SP?) Do you have it posted somewhere? Because I would like to read it. And it is very true... in order to defeat evil we must understand it and then we can pinpoint it's weaknesses, strengths or anything else. lol... Yes Twins! No... Legolas' torment won't end for a little bit yet... Healing is the hardest... lol.... I've done that before. Make myself look like a complete idiot around a really cute guy... But oh well. I figure I'd just better wait for the Mr. Right.. otherwise there are too many cute guys to choose from;-) Neato... We might live only a few hours away from each other:-) Now I'll have to look up Circle Pines:-) Whew... Record long review and reply me thinkith... :-) But thank you so much! I really appreciate it!

Eruanna · 12 February 2004 · Chapter 18: Just for...

I love this chapter, and I have not forgotten about you, Faith! I'm in the middle of some hectic days; I'll review when I get time!

Author's reply

Thanks! I was waiting for you to review;-) I'm glad you find time to review me, I am soo blessed! Thanks!

Anonymous · 11 February 2004 · Chapter 18: Just for...

anouther great chapter! i thought this one would be the last one because you said that they were getting back to the castle but i was wrong! i cant wait for the next one!

Author's reply

No, not quite yet the end. I am thinking I will cut off the story a little earlier and then do a sequel later on.... I have not been able to really focus on the story and get a good chapter written, but we shall see;-) Thanks!

daw the minstrel · 10 February 2004 · Chapter 18: Just for...

Faith-- You have such a nice sense of your characters. I was particularly struck by the interaction between Legolas and Lomion and by Thranduil's anger over what had been done to his child. "I want to cut off his fingers for touching him" etc. That really rang true. daw

Author's reply

Thanks:-)I try anyway;-) I'm glad that you don't think that Thranduil's anger wasn't at all cheesy... I thought I had went to far, but aparently not:-) Thanks for reviewing!

Nikara · 9 February 2004 · Chapter 18: Just for...

Wow! Very nice. Even though I know he'll be okay, I'm still worried about him. I enjoyed the pipe-weed allergy. Very nice reference to hobbits saving the world. I can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Thanks! Still worried? lol, yeah I do tend to rather beat up our favorite elf huh? I'm glad you liked the pipe-weed allergy. I thought it would throw a little humor into some tense situations. Yes, I didn't know how the whole hobbits saving the world would work out, but I think I like it;-) And apparently, so you do;-) Thanks!

Anonymous · 9 February 2004 · Chapter 17: Lost

when are you gunna post the next chapter? i wanna read it! lol! great chapter!

Author's reply

I just posted it;-) Thanks~~

Eruanna · 27 January 2004 · Chapter 17: Lost

Oh, I *like* this chapter! Goodness, poor Siovan...how traumatic! The poor guy... //The battle cries echoed in his heart, but they did nothing to cover the laughter of his children that echoed in his mind.// *sniff* That sentence made me cry. Poor Thranduil; when does all this horror end? And poor Legolas; it must have been terrible to recount those things. My, my. Poor Thalion. And the next chapter's not going to be any better, is it? Nope. That was funny though, with Erestor and the water...especially that last order to him to get hot water going. ;-) Poor Erestor. *rambles through entire list of characters...again* The sad thing is: they all need it! Thorinell, Thorinell. Poor guy (here we go again). It must be hard watching everyone go sailing...I can't even imagine the depth of emotion it must cause to choose like that, or to stay behind. Ohhh. Legolas (finally) understands! He always thinks he's responsible for everyone and everything that happens. That *can't* be good for his stress level. ;-) But mine is going up too, because now I'm afraid for Miriwen! (Not to mention everyone else!) I know what boy troubles are like, and I'm too young to really be having them! I keep it inside though; no one ever notices. I was going to LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Depending on where you live and where you go to church, you may or may not have heard of Quizzing. It features Scripture memorization and good-natured competition. It's really, really fun. ;-) This year we're doing Hebrews and 1 and 2 Peter. We already have Hebrews memorized, so it's on to 1 Peter! Far from criticizing you, Faith (is it okay if I call you that?), I highly respect your decision to take a break from writing these stories (even though I'll miss your wonderful writing!). I know what it's like to get a bracing reality check from God...it was about LotR for me, too. I will be praying for you during this time as you draw closer to God and seek His face! But until you quit...more please! (Another chapter-like review!)

Author's reply

Holy cow girl! lol. You sure took my word for long reviews;-) But I love 'em trust me. Going through the list again? lol. Poor him and him, and him, and him. lol. Yes, they all need a hug. And yes, even Siovan, though perhaps you won't feel so sorry for him when I'm through with him;-) (Mwahahaha) (cough) Yes, Legolas finally is starting to understand thankfully, but I think Lomion will pound it into his head one more time;-) Just a hint, don't be afraid for Miriwen. It will be a good sort of suffering, trust me;-) Yes, boy troubles. Crushes are especially hard, you think that certain someone is just perfect for you and then.... The bubble pops, lol. LaCrosse Wisconsin ay? I live in Shell Lake Wisconsin. Not too far away. It might be a mere dot on the map, but hey, it's where I live... If you want to find it on a map, look for either Spooner Wi. or Rice Lake Wi. It's somewhere in between there. lol. Wow! Memorized Hebrews! That is really cool:-D Awwww. Thank you so much! And yes it is certainly ok to call me Faith, that's my name after all. lol. Thank you so much for not only supporting me but also encourging me;-) Thanks so much again! Namaarie~

daw the minstrel · 24 January 2004 · Chapter 17: Lost

Another nicely done chapter, Faith. I am particularly taken with the suffering of Legolas (no surprise there), but you have done his family very vividly too. I will miss your stories while you are on hiatus, but I understand what you mean about trying to drive back the obsessiveness!

Author's reply

Thank you... :-) I was rather at a short come of how to continue, wither to start to ease some of Legolas' burden or pile more stuff on. lol. But I think this worked out all the better... You need to lighten the load before you can lose it right? :-D A couple of people have asked why I decided to put his family into the fic, but I wanted to do more than just Legolas you know? I especially love your OC's. And in fact you gave me the idea:-) ;-) ;-P Well, I am certainly glad I will be missed! But hopefully when (if) I come back, my stories will be a little better plotted out... :-) Thanks!

Eruanna · 16 January 2004 · Chapter 16: Whisper

Well...umm...er...WOW! Where do I start? First of all, the conversation between Thranduil and Legolas at the beginning of the chapter made me cry, as such things are wont to do. I have never been very good at writing really emotional thoughts and words, but your passages just blow me away. I love it! Thalion - on his way to recovery (?) and not endearing himself to many horses. ;-) Poor Thorinell. Poor, heartsick Thorinell. Uh oh. Is Miriwen in trouble?!? Lothgil is kind of amusing in her bewildered boy trouble. ;-) And each new revelation about Legolas brings some new terror. I feel so sorry for him! Poor guy. Everyone tortures him. (It's so fun!) Ah yes. The almost never-ending battle of school. I know all too well what you mean. Fortuantely, my delays are a bit happier than yours seem to be. I was at camp last weekend, and this Saturday I'm going to be in LaCrosse, havin' lots of fun! (Then I return to my math on Monday. Stink.) More please!

Author's reply

lol. I love how you can just help me out! You not only encourage me with your wonderful reviews, but you also give me a reason not to abandon this story:-) Yes, Thalion is on his way to full recovery, and no he isn't endearing himself to many horses;-) But having been on one for several weeks, I think he is getting quite sick of looking at them! lol. Yes, poor Thorinell! And what's worse, he doesn't know that his mother sent the letter that he thought he had thrown away! lol. I still laugh at that. No, Miriwen isn't in trouble, just a little heartsick for her husband. Yes Lothgil is rather amusing in her bewildered boy troubles, actually (a behind the story, story) I based her off of my younger sister who is currently having boy troubles so she is rather easy to emulate her into Lothgil:-) And yes, everyone likes (for some odd reason;-) to torture Legolas. The poor elf. Never ending school. (Sigh) I am glad this is my last year. :-D But, I noticed you are going to LaCrosse. Is that in Wisconsin? Or do you mean the game LaCrosse? Very curious now:-) Thank you ever so much for the review~!

Anonymous · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 16: Whisper

Anouther excellent chapter! I liked Thalion's part! cant wait until your next post!

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I've seen the word excellent chapter so much, it's permantly etched within my mind! lol. I'm glad you like Thalion, I like him too:-) lol. Posting will probably be delayed until Sunday's, since I now have a beta reader:-) Thanks for the review!

daw the minstrel · 14 January 2004 · Chapter 16: Whisper

I've been out of town and just found this update. I'm glad I did because it's really good. I love the way you are developing the relationships between all the characters, particularly Thranduil and Legolas, but also all of Legolas's brothers and sisters and their various ties. Legolas is really having trouble dealing with what he went through.

Author's reply

Ahh:-) Well, it was a little late and unbeta-ed, but oh well. I'm glad you like it! I was having trouble in tying everything in... Still am..:-) But after each chapter I am thrilled to see that many (I hope) people liked it and are still waiting for more:-D Yes Legolas is having quite a bit of trouble dealing with everything, it's hard when everything piles up, leaving you to deal with it all at once. Fortunatly, Legolas has his older brother and father there;-) Glad to see you back!

Eruanna · 9 January 2004 · Chapter 15: When you cried...

Ah! Finally we have some answers!! And a few more problems to complement them... ;-) My poor Legolas...he never gets to have any painless peace except when he's unconscious - but we seem to like it that way. *malicious grin* Hmmm...three days? Let me guess; DELAY!?! Oh, poor Thalion. And Thranduil, and.... *rambles on through entire list of characters. Hopefully Lothgil will get to be happy now! But when does Tasari get *his* girl? And now you leave us with suspense! WHEN WILL IT ALL END??!?!?!?! (Hopefully not any time soon!) Yeah, my last review *was* kind of a chapter... sorry. I'll try to keep them shorter. Thanks for your patience! Post soon!

Author's reply

Yes some answers yet more questions;-) No Legolas doesn't have much painless peace, but he will have some soon. lol. Yes poor everyone. Lothgil will be happy though as will Tasari. And don't worry, *rambles on through entire list of characters* everyone will be happy at the end;-) And it won't end for a little bit yet. Don't worry! I love long reviews! Gives me something to do, besides write and read all the time. Oh wait. lol. Reading and writting back is a review response isn't it? lol. P.S. Don't look for an update today, I will post tomarrow. Sorry! Real life came upon me, and though I gave it quite a furious battle, it wounded me and I still have yet to recover! lol. It's called school. :-p

Nikara · 4 January 2004 · Chapter 15: When you cried...

That is not a pretty sounding leg wound. I have a feeling that will hurt to set. Poor boy. What exactly is the morgul poison? Is it similar to what Frodo faced?

Author's reply

No, it's not a pretty sounding leg wound. I bet it looks pretty nasty as well, which is why they have to get him back to the palace as quickly as possible. Poor elf actually, lol. Morgul Poisoning is a darker fouler poison, for a sort of reference, I'm using Cassia's Mellon Chronicles Return description: The poison was indeed of morgul origin, it was slow, but deadly. Untreated and uncountered, it would continue to slowly drain Legolas’ life away bit by bit until it killed him; a slow and horrible kind of way to die. Now Frodo's wound was a Morgul blade. That is a little different. For a Morgul blade, once it pierces your heart, you became a Wraith. Neither living nor dead. Once again I'm referencing Cassia's Mellon Chronicles. The story for a Morgul Blade being used on an elf, namely Legolas, go to her website. http://aragorn-legolas.5u.com/fanfiction.html and there you'll find the two stories. I hope this all makes sense:-) Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions! Namaarie~

daw the minstrel · 3 January 2004 · Chapter 15: When you cried...

Legolas's spirit is ailing, isn't it? I hope there's help for that. Thalion is in good hands, but he seems really ill too. I look forward to seeing how this all works out.

Author's reply

Yes, Legolas' spirit is really ailing. I think he's starting to realise all that was done to him. When he was captive, he was just living in the moment. Not dwelling on the past or future. Now that he is free and he has time to think, he is starting to fully comprehend how awful of a fate he might of had to endure. Yes, Thalion is in good hands now. But not with All State. lol. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will all pan out too! lol. Thanks for the review!

Nikara · 30 December 2003 · Chapter 14: It may sound absurd...

I love the begining. Great job. Now Elrond has another patient on his hands! Keep it up!

Author's reply

Thank you! Yes, several people told me how they liked the beginning. I was rather pleased myself;-) Yes, Elrond does have a patient on his hands, on that wants to get back home, but is a little more mature than Legolas;-) If you get what I mean.:-) Thanks for the review!

daw the minstrel · 28 December 2003 · Chapter 14: It may sound absurd...

They seem to me to be gradually working their way to recovery, but I don't trust you, Faith! Still, maybe you'll be content with the angst you created in this chapter and won't make still more problems for them.

Author's reply

! I can't believe you just said that! I'm shocked! You don't trust me? (sniff) lol, just kidding. Yes I am pretty content with the angst but unfortunately for you, there will still be quite a bit of angst for Legolas up ahead as he heals. However Thalion, Miriwen, Thorinell and Lothgil will all have a happy chapter. lol. A nice happy chapter for a change;-)

Eruanna · 27 December 2003 · Chapter 14: It may sound absurd...

Wow! Poor Thalion! What's happening to him? (Of course, with my thoroughness and my attention span, I could easily have missed a simple explanation, but I didn't think there was one.) I'm not entirely sure what is going to happen to Thorinell. My first thought was that he was going to die in a fight with the Orcs, and that Lothgil would never know the truth. I don't know if that's what's going to happen, but in any case I am glad that Morwen sent the letter. Even if he dies (though I hope he doesn't), Lothgil will at least know the truth. (Unless, of course, Thorinell dies and the messenger is waylaid and then Morwen dies too: but we won't go into that.) ;-) A well written flashback! The child-like faith and innocence of Legolas really touched me. And poor Legolas, with the physical and emotional pain. I can't imagine what I would do if I saw *my* best friend die like that. *shudders* The memory of Tillio was very sweet. I had a stuffed rabbit once, it was thoroughly ugly. I'm sure Legolas' mother did a better job than whoever made *mine*! I had a suspicion that with twelve siblings you just might be homeschooled. And as for Algebra... *shudders again* That has got to be one of the things I hate the most. I don't mind Geometry as much, and I don't take Chemistry, and Triganometry (sp?) ;-)... is that the whole triangle thing? I can't remember. More please!

Author's reply

Whew! Your review was like a chapter! lol. No you didn't miss anything with Thalion, I will explain a little further in detail what happened to him, in a flashback in the battle with the orcs. (hint, hint:-) lol. No, Thorinell and Lothgil are having a rather rocky start. Thorinell dying? Morwen dying? Oh dear, you just put a thought into my head. And it's not a happy one, but you will have to wait until chapter 16 until you find out what it is;-) ;-) Yes, poor, poor Legolas. More pain for the poor elf. I had an aunt die, but no one really close. I don't think I could handle the pain of it all. (sigh) Yes, the memory of Tillio is a very sweet scene. I always had a teddy-bear but I didn't really think that that would push it through;-) lol. Yes, twelve siblings and homeschooled. Final year! Yes! Algebra yikes. Since I am way behind, I haven't had to do geometry or trigahowyouspellit. lol. I have done chemistry though. And I think trigect.ect. is with triangles. Now, what normal teen uses triangles on a daily bases so that he or she would need them? Good grief! Thanks for the review!

Anonymous · 27 December 2003 · Chapter 14: It may sound absurd...

That was an exellent chapter! i loved the ending!

Author's reply

Thank you!

Aly · 27 December 2003 · Chapter 14: It may sound absurd...

If it's not one thing in this story, it's another! I love it. So now not only do we have Legolas to worry about, but his brother also. And the possiblility of loosing his last sister over the sea as well. I can't wait to see how it all works out.

Author's reply

lol. I'm certainly glad you love it! Yes, there is lots of turmoil and unanswered questions. Unfortunately for you, I won't be posting til next Saturday. (sigh) But there will be nothing to worry about. I hope anyway. lol. Thanks for the review!

Eruanna · 20 December 2003 · Chapter 13: My arms will hold you

Oh my! That's an incredibly horrible place to end a chapter...(besides wishing us all a Merry Christmas...) Merry Christmas to you also! Poor Lothgil; I hope she doesn't die of a heart attack... Another touching, well-written chapter! The portrayal of Thranduil's emotions was exquisite. I must say that I am feeling rather unfriendly toward the Easterling's remains... Twelve siblings! Craziness! The largest family that I know personally has nine kids...their names go in alphabetical order; it's pretty cool. And as for grammar: don't sweat it. Grammar is a nasty little monster. I am homeschooled, but I took a writing class last year. My teacher (hilarious woman) claims that the man responsible for grammar sat in bed at night thinking of ways to best torture poor, helpless English students... Post soon!

Author's reply

You are welcome;-) I was going to continue with what I had planned, but then the chapter would have been at least another 6 pages to the 14 pages I already had. So, I figured I didn't want to scare anyone off;-) No, Lothgil is a tough girl and won't die. Nope:-D lol. Yes the Easterling's remains are about to get thrown into the woods for the wargs. I think everyone hates him. Including me. How did I ever create such a monster to hurt Legolas? Yes, twelve siblings and nine nieces and nephews. Crazy I tell you. Ahhh, thank you. Rather interesting, but I am homeschooled as well. This is my last year thankfully:-) That claim is very true. Just like Algebra and Geometry, and Chemisty and Trigahowyouspellit. lol. I will post on Sat. ;-) Thanks for the review!

Nikara · 20 December 2003 · Chapter 13: My arms will hold you

I feel so sorry for Legolas. At least it didn't get too far. I'm glad he is fully unconscious now. He won't feel the pain. Great job with Thranduil's emotions!

Author's reply

Yes, Legolas is rather a sorry sight. Thank you much! I really was trying hard to type it just right and I actually can't believe that I actually wrote it! lol. Silly me. I think it is my favorite chapter so far:-D Thanks for the review!

Anonymous · 20 December 2003 · Chapter 13: My arms will hold you

merry christmas to you too! i thought this would be the last ch. but i guess not! great chapter!

Author's reply

Thank you! No, the last chapter wasn't the last chapter. Legolas still has yet to get back to the realm as does Thalion. And Legolas will be fully healed when I'm finished with the story. I'm glad you like it!

daw the minstrel · 20 December 2003 · Chapter 13: My arms will hold you

This was a good chapter, Faith. Your picture of Legolas suffering was very touching. Actually, you did a good job with all your story lines. I thought that Thorinell was probably deceiving Lothgil about his feelings!

Author's reply

Thank you (blush) You know after all the complitments I am still so not used to them? lol. Yes, I was very depressed after writting that chapter. It didn't help I was listening to some depressing music as well. You know they say music is the voice to your soul? Well, after listening to some very deep depressing music while I was writting certainly helped;-) Yes Thorinell was deceiving Lothgil about his true feelings. I battled a bit over that scene, trying not to make it too cheesy. I still hope it didn't come out that way:-\. Thanks for the review!
