· Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup
Glorfindel could very well be right about Amarië not being consulted, either. Not that I think she'd be happy with that any more than Finrod.
*snicker* Of course, these two are a sore trial for Nàmo – and not only for him.
Have to agree with Finrod – Isildil's going to be unbearable if he ever gets back to being Head Cook. I think I'd prefer him to be sacked. He just doesn't deserve the job with his attitude. Or send him to Nienna to get his head and ego deflated.
After having to suffer under Isildil, I had hoped the rest of the staff would be more sensible, so I was a bit disappointed that someone tried to sabotage the soup. But Glorfindel managed the problem quite well, and I was glad the King and Queen reacted the way they did. And I was glad for Glorfindel – finally some success! As he was turning the tables on the saboteur, I felt quite smug on his behalf.
But I'm wondering more and more who Marilla is and how much she truly notices of what's going on. All that sabotage ... why do I suspect that she knows about it and there will be consequences in the end?
Author's reply
Hi Kitty. Sending Isildil to Nienna might not be a bad idea. *grin* I think some of the other kitchen help weren't affected by Isildil's authoritarian manner and feel a kind of loyalty to him since he's been acting as their master in the guild and all and that's why they have been sabotaging Glorfindel's and Finrod's efforts in the kitchen. We'll see how all this works out eventually. More is going on than meets the eye. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

· Chapter 8: In Which There is Rebellion in the Ranks and a Trial is Held
*sigh* Doesn't sound too good - Glorfindel feels obviously bad treated, and we all know that's not going to end well. But it's strange to have these two so much at odds with each other.
It was really only a matter of time until the Valar intervened again with these two. Of course, neither of them should have lost his temper, but somehow I can understand them under these circumstances. And I certainly don't envy Námo having to deal with these two *again*!
Oh well, I'm glad they have made up. Much better so. And Námo is certainly right about the damage they cause when they argue. Very sensible of him to take them out of the city :D
Author's reply
Hi Kitty. As Námo points out, when these two get angry, terrible things can happen, so it's best to nip it at the bud. And even the best of friends can have a temporary falling-out over some trivial matter. Happens all the time. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

· Chapter 7: In Which the Palace Gets a New Head Cook and Finrod Gets a New Title
Sorry for neglecting you again, but just when I finally thought I could go and catch up with a few of my favourite authors on SoA, my internet connection decided to die on me. Still not gotten back online, so I can get in here only at my Mum's (who doesn't live in the same town) and at work. Was forced to copy updates onto an USB stick to be able to read at all. The joys of technology!
Glad Finrod warned his mother about Vorondil's gift. The poor elfling would be devastated if it was not well received; I think he could take that even less than Finrod back then. Aldundil and Eärwen did a great job in convincing Vorondil that his gift *is* special, just for the effort and love that went into finding it.
I really don't like Isildil. And somehow I get the feeling that will not change. While I didn't like Vorondil at first, that one was young and led astray by his elders. But Isildil is another matter altogether. Seeing how he behaves , I keep remembering something one of our old politicians after the war (can't remember which one) said: When you want to get to know the character of someone, then give him a tiny bit of power.
Hm ... Marilla sounds so familiar ... *goes to check her Who's who in Fiondil-Universe* Reminds me suspiciously of Nienna's cook Marilliën. But maybe I'm totally off track; wouldn't be the first time you did lead us on a false track, I guess. We'll see.
*sigh* Our dear Glorfindel doesn't take all that very well, does he? I hope they don't cause more mayhem. Not sure the palace can take it.
Author's reply
Welcome back, Kitty! No one likes Isildil and you're right about being given a little power to show what kind of person someone is. Marilla... well, we'll see just what the deal is with her eventually. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

It CAN be helpful to have a Maia or two come to the rescue, I must say. But these four do need to have a long talk about gossip in public places so close to the palace! Heh!
Author's reply
It certainly can, Larner. There are times I wish I had a Maia or two to come to my rescue. LOL! And we'll see how the four Noldor fare when brought before Arafinwë in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Oh, Atto!
First of all, sorry for not reviewing lately. My internet connection's been a little temperamental ever since the router went crazy...my Anatar only just fixed it recently but that's what they're good for right? Only he yelled at me and I didn't even do anything! Neri! *sighs*
Don't worry, *you* weren't included in that "Neri" :P
Ok...as soon as I got through the title, I knew there was going to be a problem, LOL! But I wasn't expecting THIS! Might I suppose there's another trial in the near future? Oh, boy...
But still, what a stupid thing for those Amaneldi to say, and in front of Reborn, too!
Glorfi...why'd you leave them alone? Really...
Looking forward to Friday, Monday, and of COURSE next Wednesday!!

Hey Kaylee. Glad you're back online. And as you guessed, there will be another trial, or rather an enquiry, which we will see in the next chapter. I'm glad you are enjoying this story and Darkness. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Well that was exciting and boring!
Yep, some 10 year olds have a very short attention span, once the novelty wears off they want to do something else, a pity they are not allowed to 'play' with the swords, but I can see Ingwe's point(Sorry for the pun!) I do think Glorfi should have tried to stay with them, he was a little upset though, his maturity is still not as it was, but he is coming along.
I doubt, this close to the wedding that Finrod and Amarie will do it Sindarin style, if they were, they would have done it already. What a vicious thing to say though and just because she is jealous of those who have been invited to the wedding and to cap it off with the comment about him not being a good enough king to hang onto his kingdom! Well! They were just asking for it!
I am glad that Manwe and Este had some Mair on Reborn watch to take care of them and the Inn.
Now to see what Arafinwe is going to do to the 'good citizens' of Tirion!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. Glorfy did his best but the other two weren't helping much. And whether the other Elves in the tavern were asking for it or not remains to be seen. Some people enjoy being spiteful especially against people who in the normal course of things would not be able to defend themselves against the spite.
Anwyaya we'll see in the next chapter how Arafinwë handles the situation. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

People can be so malicious, they spread their lies all around without thinking on the consequences, or do they have a purpose?
You really cannot leave reborn alone, right? They are ripe for trouble.
And finally, Glorfindel is maturing, although his last decision was not very wise, leaving those two loose in Tirion....
Author's reply
That is certainly true, Fantasia, and most do so just for the sake of feeling superior to others and for no real reason. And Glorfindel is indeed maturing, but he's not there yet and he still suffers from the occasional lapse of good sense common to the emotionally young. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

I got no farther than "In which the Reborn are bored..." and went 'oh no, that's going to end badly.' LOL. Ingalaure and Intarion are so used to 'overprotective older brother' that they have no idea how to handle 'protective older friend' do they? It will be interesting to see Glorfindel's reaction to the whole mess. I think the others forgot *Glorfindel's* 'youth' when sending the three together. Although he usually doesn't instigate things anymore, he's still only what? five years older than the other two?
Author's reply
Hi AzureSkye. You are correct that certain people forgot just how *young* Glorfindel still is emotionally. Glorfindel is probably closer to ten years older than the other two (if you add up the his time in the Gardens of Mandos and Lórien) but in Elvish terms that's nothing. Anyway, we'll see how everyone, including Glorfindel, reacts to the whole mess next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

· Chapter 13: In Which the Reborn are Bored and a Tavern Gets Trashed
There is always something going on with the Reborn, isn't it? At least Ingalaure and Intarion weren't carrying any weapons in the tavern... :-p
Yes, Glorfy ought to know what a balrog looks like. And evidently he is grown-up enough now that he did not let the two more recently Reborn play with live steel when Ingwë had forbidden it. And I wonder what spurred that?
That was some really vicious gossiping going on in the tavern. Perhaps there is still remnants of the Darkening lingering here and there, since this "gossip" is more like subversion. And of course one of the Reborn would react. Finrod is their friend, after all, and they are still very young emotionally. And since there were two very "young" reborn in the middle of this trouble, the two Maiar were no doubt truly needed to handle it.
I wonder if, right now, Finrod is about ready to compose a sonnet in praise of boredom?
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. We may be thankful for small favors that Ingalaurë and Intarion were unarmed. And I honestly have no idea what caused Ingwë to forbid live steel for these two, though swordfights through the palace corridors ala Errol Flynn come to mind. *grin*
The Darkening will never fully leave Aman, though it is more contained than what is found in Middle-earth proper, even more so, since at this point in time Valinor is still very much a part of Arda.
I have no doubt that after this, Finrod will not disdain the virtues of boredom too much. *grin*

So, the divisions between those who remained in the West and those who went to the East still remain (no real surprise there). I liked the intervention of the Maiar, very handy for the two "young" ones. This wedding will come off, but the turns and twists in the road are so much fun. I hope Glorfindel is having a good time with his maple tree and won't catch too much grief over letting the two ellons out of his direct care.
- Erulisse (one L)
Author's reply
Hi Erulisse. The events here and those chronicled in Elf, Interrupted are only a dozen years apart, not nearly enough time for all the old animosities to die down. And Elves being Elves with such long memories it will take a lot of time.
I think with the influx of Reborn that will soon inundate Tirion, the Valar have decided to post a few watchers now, and that's a good thing for our two Vanyar. *grin*
We'll see in the next chapter how things fare for them all. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

That's exactly what was needed - a breath of fresh air to blow through the Noldo court, something that has rarely happened since the days of Feanaro. Loved the musical interlude here. It brings to mind the fact that often musicians only saw the music an hour or so before the concert in the days of Mozart, Beethoven and Handel. Yet these masterpieces were played, and played well, before audiences, and have been entertaining us for centuries.
Bravo for Ingwion at pulling this one off. Now to tackle another aspect of the wedding. With luck and Finderato's good friends, it might actually be a wedding that all will be proud of when it occurs in a short time.

Hi Erulisse. Definitely, Ingwion and the other Vanyarin are a breath of fresh air and just what Tirion needed. Glad you enjoyed this chapter, especially Ingwion showing off his musical talents which are only hinted at in my other stories, especially "Darkness". Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Just a thought, is Earwen going over the top a bit because she did not get to plan Artanis/Galadrial's wedding, plus the fact that her two(Three?) other sons are not yet reborn and are unlikely to get married any time soon? (If they are not already married, that is).
Tolkien changed his mind on how many children both Finwe and Arafinwe had that I need a family tree to keep them all accounted for, we need a Hobbit to keep track of them!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
You may be correct about that, Lynda, especially with Earwen not being able to plan Galadriel's wedding. That may certainly color her reactions to this wedding.
I adhere to the theory that Tolkien believed that Arafinwe had four children and that Orodeth was his grandson by Angrod (so, of course, he, at least was married and I have Orodeth appear in "Darkness" as a young Elf). This is, according to Christopher Tolkien, what Tolkien intended but C.T. was unaware of the revision until after the publication of the Silmarillion, so some people keep to the genealogy found in the Simarillion while others, like myself, give Arafinwe three sons only instead of four.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Well I seem to remember Glorfy and Finrod dancing naked a couple of times but Amarie, while she enjoyed the kiss, thought they looked rediculas! I can see where the blood in the hair came from, Sador's initiation as a warrior. Snails can be very tasty too.
Do you think Tirion can handle the influx of two very 'young' reborn, or will they remember how it was with Finrod and Glorfindel. Why does nobody seem to remember the old saying 'Little pitchers have big ears'?
See, I told you any musician worth his salt should be able to sight read and play a new peice of music with out any problems.(Smug smile)

So Eärwen did not like this talk of rumours, did she? Well, I suppose that since she has been planning it for quite some time, now, and undoubtedly want the wedding to be perfect (it _is_ her oldest son's wedding, after all) she may not care for the idea that she has not achieved perfection in her planning. And Ingwion, being the haryon to the Ingaran is certainly one to make her sit up and take notice. Some things she can take from someone who is and outsider. and not from her husband, King though he is, or her baby boy!
I can certainly understand where the rumour of dancing naked and putting blood in the hair comes from! :-p Finrod is never going to live that down, is he?
Way to go, Ingwion! You certainly made your point to the guildmistress here! :-D "And if they can’t, they have no business being in the guild," indeed!

Four Reborn? Intarion and Ingalaure are returned from Mandos? Massive yays! Even if Arafinwe insists on keeping Glorfindel and Finrod under house arrest, I think hunting will soon be added to the list of house arrest duties.
My fish recipe - Manitoba whitefish, gutted, head and skin left on, wrapped in aluminum foil and left on the fire to cook. The skin easily comes off, and then the white flesh practically falls off the bones. Pair it with a glass of wine, camping under the stars. So good.
I fourth the notion this story makes my Wednesdays brighter.

Hi Tkid. Well, I never do what my readers expect (at least, not usually *grin*). Believe me this story is far from over.
Intarion and Ingalaurë were returned from Mandos at the end of 'Elf, Interrupted 2' and they have been 'out' for about 7 years, so they're still very much in elfling-mode as we will see.

Things are going to get lively in Tirion, I see, with two more Reborn added to the household! I don't doubt that Arafinwë (and probably everybody else, too) are going to do their best to take precautions so that the ... high spirits, let us say? ... of the Reborn won't make too much of a disruption. but you can't plan for all eventualities, and the Reborn are always unpredictable.
Nice to see that Ingwion wants to be helpful. And the "Haryon to the Ingaran outranks the King of the Noldor" bit may be useful.

Hi Sunny. You bet that things are going to get even livier than they already are and zanier, too.
