more re-born? Oh, Valar. Hopefully the wedding is coming soon. The gods must put forth all their power to protect the city with Glorfindel and Co. on the run. Another more then entertaining chapter. Thank you. Lai

Author's reply

Hi Lai. Yes, more Reborn. It just makes things so much more interesting, don't you think? LOL! I'm sure the Valar have put their Maiar on high alert with a double guard around Tirion. Glad you found the chapter entertaining. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Erulisse (one L) · 17 August 2011 · Chapter 11: In Which Cousins Arrive and There is Further Plotting

LOL - It's always a plan with these ellons, but the twist at the end with ranks being pulled...oh the possibilities of ellons running wild abound. Fun, as always! - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. Yes, the twist at the end should make this more interesting. We'll see how Ingwion manages it in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

AzureSkye · 17 August 2011 · Chapter 11: In Which Cousins Arrive and There is Further Plotting

Grins. Oh, this is gonna be good. Add two more re-born to the mix, and a haryon to the Ingaran who can *get* his way, and the conspiracy is going to go great! (and probably get into a good deal of trouble on the way...*grin*) It was very nice to see Intarion again. I always felt bad for Alassiel, who had barely known her atar. Well, I'm going to sit back, and wait for the mischief to begin! Wonderful as always!

Author's reply

Hi AzureSkye. Yes, lots of Reborn to get into trouble and make Arafinwë's day. *grin* We'll see just how having the Vanyarin Reborn in Tirion works out. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Fantasia · 17 August 2011 · Chapter 11: In Which Cousins Arrive and There is Further Plotting

Fiondil I'm so happy with this chapter, to see all of them together, having fun, planing a wedding, being young. I'm happy to see Ingalaurë and Intarion reborn, alive. I can read IDB without too much angst. Thank you.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. I happy that you are happy. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter so much. Seeing Ingalaurë and Intarion reborn and alive again does make it easier, doesn't it? Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

6336 · 17 August 2011 · Chapter 11: In Which Cousins Arrive and There is Further Plotting

Oh, Atar help us! Three Re-born, four if you count Finderato, running about Tirion with minimal supervision and Glorfindel is one of them? Will Tirion still be standing by the time of the wedding? Will Aman survive? Tune in next Wednesday for the next thrilling installment! I hope Ingwion does not upset too many people when he puts his plan into motion, though depending on the complexety of the music I don't think it should take too long! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. Atar help us, indeed! We'll see how Ingwion fares and what happens when he puts his plan in motion. He's not the haryon to the Ingaran for nothing, as certain people will soon discover. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciat it.

eliza61 · 17 August 2011 · Chapter 11: In Which Cousins Arrive and There is Further Plotting

MORE!!. You adding more mischief to mayhem!! Flying fish maybe the least of the problem by the time this is over. LOL. Well, although I'm absolutely loving this story and Wednesday is turning out to be the favorite day of my work week. I think you may want to find a nice corner to "Duck & cover". Enjoyable as always. E

Author's reply

Hi Eliza. Oh there's more to come, never fear. LOL! Glad to know you are enjoying this story and looking forward to each new chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I quite appreciate it.

Tkid · 12 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

Soooooo, i wonder how Finrod will be passing the time tonight? *grin*

Author's reply

We'll just have to wait and see, won't we? *grin* Glad you are still reading and enjoying the story, Tkid. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Tari · 12 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

So Arafinwë and Eärwen turned the tables on whoever tried to cause more trouble for Finrod and Glorfindel. Good for them. Whether or not it will deter any futer incidents like this remains to be seen.

Author's reply

Hi Tari. I'm sure those who conspired to ruin the soup and get Glorfindel into trouble weren't expecting the King and Queen to actualy *LIKE* a little spice to their soup. LOL! Whether or not things get easier for our two heroes remains to be seen. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

galathil · 11 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

Can I have that fountain in my garden? Glorfindel can go fishing for me any time.I love the fish on his headhe!he!LOl Galathil

Author's reply

He can go fishing for me, too. LOL! Glad you enjoyed this chapter, Galathil. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Sunny · 10 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

Hmmm. "Spoke with the King last night - it really sounds as f this emergency did not come as a surprise to Masrilla. That just makes me even more suspicious about just who she is. So was Carnimir instructed to dawdle and gossip with the fish seller to create a small emergency with the ingredients, or was that all his own idea? Trust Glorfy to go fishing in a fountain and come out of it with something bigger than koi or goldfish!! As for recipes - if you are going to do a "cookbook" perhaps this will give some inspiration: (Language warning, and don't eat or drink while reading) http://docs8.chomikuj.pl/359109303,0,0,Ringo-John---Roast-Suckling-Damnbeast.pdf

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. Hilarious recipe, but I don't think we need to go that far, unless you find yourself short of perch for the salomene, in which case, you should hie thee to a fountain or pool or even your bathtub and pray like crazy, especially if the markets are all closed. LOL! I'm sure many readers have their suspicions about Marilla. We'll see just who she is (or isn't) before this story ends. And no, Carnimir wasn't instructed to dawdle; he was utilizing proper bargaining techniques. You start out by gossiping and pretending you're not really interested in the item you wish to purchase and the merchant pretends he's not eager to sell the said item to you. It's a game that is played with relish through much of the world. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Fantasia · 10 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

You made me hungry, and it is too early to eat here in California and I'm at work! what a great menu, and they say that it is a simple one. Now I wish that I can make Salomene and Venison custard. I like that this chapeter has less drama. Love Glorfindel call for help and how much he is loved by the Valars, that even Ulmo will provide fish for him.

Author's reply

Hi Fantasia. All you have to do is go online and look up medieval recipes. There are several sites that will give you the recipes for these. And this story will have both comedy and drama, but this chapter is much lighter than the previous ones, for sure. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

6336 · 10 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

O Kay, just what is Atar Arafinwe up to? Could Amarie be coming a little early by chance? By the way how are Finderato's wedding clothes coming along? I always knew Ulmo had a weird sense of humor, bless the wily old Valar for getting Glorfindel his fish! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. We'll see in the next chapter what Atar Arafinwe is up to. As for Findarato's clothes, that remains to be seen. And Ulmo was always known for his love of the Elves and Mortals, more so than most of the other Valar, so it's not surprising that he lends a little help to one of his favorite elflings. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing!

eliza · 10 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

***snort*** Fiondil, you are going to have to give warnings at the beginning of your chapters, I just snorted tea up my nose from trying to drink and laugh at the same time Thank you for the lovely interlude. Glorifindal is such interesting character. showing humility, humor and impatience. very lovely soul. PS, the menu sounds lovely, you're going to have to include recipes.

Author's reply

Sorry about that, Eliza. Now that you're forewarned... *grin* Glad you enjoyed this chapter where Glorfindel shines. Perhaps as an appendix I will add recipes. We'll have to see. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Erulisse (one L) · 10 August 2011 · Chapter 10: In Which a Menu is Discussed and Glorfindel Goes Fishing

Oh, the morning vision of the plaza being pelted with fresh-water fish and the final indignity of the one on Glorfindel's head. Lovely. But lovelier still was Glorfindel's generosity and greatness of heart coming through when he made sure that the elleth had enough fish for her special meal. It is that aspect of your Glorfindel that makes everyone want to make sure of his success and happiness. A very nice bridging chapter. - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. Glorfindel's generosity and greatness of heart are what makes him such a special ellon. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Tari · 9 August 2011 · Chapter 8: In Which There is Rebellion in the Ranks and a Trial is Held

Three cheers for Lord Namo. It's just sad that it took his intervention to bring the two ellon back together. I think the rest of their punishemnt will pass in a much more pleasant manner.

Author's reply

Yes, it is sad that Lord Namo was forced to intervene, but at least they've kissed and made up, as it were. We'll have to see how they fare from here on out. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Tari · 5 August 2011 · Chapter 7: In Which the Palace Gets a New Head Cook and Finrod Gets a New Title

I like Mistress Marilla already. It would serve Isildil right if she were made permanent Head Cook. I'll bet she could think of lots of "good" jobs for the arogant jerk to perfom. Bassoneth Finrod definitely has a nice ring to it. LOL

Author's reply

Mistres Marilla is easy to like. *grin* As to whether she continues on as Head Cook remains to be seen. Thanks for reading and reviewing, Tari. I appreciate it.

tkid · 4 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

And I wouldn't be surprised if Amarië staged her own little rebellion. She did it once before, she can do it again. If anything tips Amarië over the edge it'll be the wedding outfits with their lovely shades of pink and green. Oh yes. They'd tip me over the edge. I can't wait until she arrives - the dynamic between her and Finrod, combined with one Balrog slayer, should a lot of fun to watch.

Author's reply

We will meet up with Amarië eventually, Tkid, never fear. She's a force to be reckoned with no less than her ammë. She and Finrod make a good pair.

Erulisse (one L) · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

I just had to take time out of an overly-busy day to read this, I've been enjoying this tale so very much. I have to agree, most potato soup is quite bland (my mother's recipie, which uses mushrooms, has a bit more spice to it). Some pepper sauce could go quite well, and apparently the King and Queen agree. Good for everyone for holding their tongues. The culprits will out in the end. It is an interesting thought that Amarie is getting as much input into the wedding as Finrod has been, namely - none. I think that's a shame. But knowing how overbearing her amme is, it is not surprising. I wonder it she might stage her own little revolution... Have as delightful a day as you've just provided for me :-) - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

Hi Erulisse. I'm sure the culprits will get theirs eventually. And I wouldn't be surprised if Amarië staged her own little rebellion. She did it once before, she can do it again. Something I think her ammë may have forgotten. I'm glad this story has delighted you. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

6336 · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

I am not fond of spicy things myself, though I do make a mean Chili, just not too hot! I was pleased to note that Glorfindel knows the correct way to cool his mouth with a peice of bread. At least Alilinel is up to the tricks that the other apprentices are playing and Arafinwe and Earwen liked the soup! Finrod is still having issues with the wedding and I am sure Amarie is too, but he does have at least one person on his side in the guise of the elleth,I for get her name, who is is charge of decorations! Glorfindel is still the equivalent of a 15 to 16 year old boy, he can be very serious one minute and very immature the next. Give him a couple of Yen and he will grow out of it, I just hope Aman will survive in the mean time! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. More is going on inside the royal kitchen than one suspects. And you are right that Finrod has an ally in Mistress Terendulë (and her husband the Chief Gardener). And Glorfindel is, well Glorfindel. LOL! At least we know he does grow up eventually, though I doubt he ever grew up all the way. *grin* Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Tkid · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

I can't see Finrod remaining apathetic regarding the wedding for long. If there is another incident, and if Amarie goes along with it, I can see an elopement in the future.

Author's reply

Hi Tkid. We'll have to see what happens next. *grin* Thanks for reading and revviewing.

Sunny · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

Eärwen's reaction, "Oh! Finally someone figured out the proper way to make potato soup", was not the result the apprentice who "spiced up" the soup had intended, I would think. :-D I am sure the soup was tasty - I am fond of, ahem, well-spiced food myself! ;-)

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. No, I suspect the apprentice was hoping for the opposite reaction. *grin* I don't mind spice but I can't tolerate hot. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Shemyaza · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

I can see how frustrated Finrod must feel about everything. He is not as newly reborn as Glorfindel and has attained some measure of adulthood, certainly enough to actually marry and produce progeny of his own. Arafinwe and Earwen tend to baby him a little I think, but I can understand their anxieties especially when he and Glorfindel show their immature side when trying to deal with a perceived problem. However I honestly don't think that either of his parents or the people around them even consider what he went through in Middle-earth. He was a King in his own right and he sacrificed himself for a secondborn which was a noble thing to do. He died in a most horrendous way. I know that his parents must know the gory details, but you would surely think that they would take all of that into consideration with him now! He deserves to be allowed to grow up to some degree at least even if that doesn't include him getting a say in his own wedding arrangements. Let's face it most men run a mile from getting involved and everyone expects them to do that so I suppose that it's par for the course that Earwen and the mother of the bride are blithely going on with everyone without bothering to consult the two people who are getting married. Almariel obviously because she doesn't think her daughter needs to know! I am waiting for the arguments over the seating plan to erupt, that would be a funny scene to contemplate. With a bit of luck they won't serve the super-spiced potato soup to the wedding guests, although I guess the Teleri contingent would be overjoyed. I wonder if they would like Indian curry?

Author's reply

Hi Shemyaza. I suspect you are right about Arafinwë and Eärwen, certainly Eärwen, as Arafinwë at least has been to Beleriand and we must assume that he saw the ruins of Nargothrond. Unfortunately, Glorfindel and the other Reborn surrounding Finrod are still at a 'young' stage of their development and I think Finrod is simply allowing himself to be sucked back into that mindset. One last fling before he settles down to married life, as it were. And we'll see how the seating arrangements are made eventually. I'm sure the Teleri would LOVE curry. LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Malice2 · 3 August 2011 · Chapter 9: In Which Apologies are Tendered and Glorfindel Saves the Soup

At first I was like "But why are they so mean?" Really, can you get more immature than these people in the kitchen?... But then in the end I was wondering "how can they be so unprofessional?" I mean, it's one stupid thing to antagonize 2 important people who are close to the king. It's another entirely to spoil the dinner of your king when you want to become a professional cook. It's not the kind of thing that could get you punished, I think, but more something that could get you fired outright if you're not careful. On another note, though Arafinwë's punishment of Finrod and Glorfindel seems quite justified, he didn't quite answer Glorfindel's opinion that, out of respect for Finrod, the prince should be able to make decisions regarding his own life... Nice and funny story, I love it.

Author's reply

Hi Malice. Well, I suspect that those who are causing trouble in the kitchen are being loyal to Isildil and are wreaking revenge on Finrod and Glorfindel for getting him demoted. None of them are masters yet and it looks as if they will be a long time getting their masterships after this. I'm glad you think Arafinwë's punishment of Finrod and Glorfindel was justified. As Finrod pointed out, he's as much a subject of the King as any in Tirion and Arafinwë has the right to punish him if necessary. Thanks for reading and reviewing and I'm happy to know you are enjoying this story. I appreciate you telling me.

tkid · 29 July 2011 · Chapter 8: In Which There is Rebellion in the Ranks and a Trial is Held

I have just begun reading Elf, Interrupted: Book Two, and I think I can guess who the new head cook is. This wedding is going to get more and more interesting, I think. *laughs and laughs*

Author's reply

Hi Tkid. A number of people have been guessing as to the identity of the new head cook. All I will say is that the truth will be revealed eventually. I'm glad you are finding this tale so amusing. Thanks for reviewing and letting me know. I appreciate it very much.

Tari · 29 July 2011 · Chapter 5: In Which Finrod Visits the Royal Kitchens and an Epic Battle Ensues

This just goes to show that having a mock battle is not always a good idea. Poor Vondo; a flash back is not what he needed.

Author's reply

You're right, Tari, and I'm sure they are all regretting it for Vondo's sake. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
