Andrea · 7 June 2009 · Chapter 25: Tulip's Tale: Part Three

That's a funny story! If Paladin did such things as an adult, what did he do as a ten-year-old, I wonder? However, his egg-prank was in fact educational :-)

Author's reply

Thanks, Andrea!! Hmm, that's a good question and one I plan on exploring in the future - like father, like son, ya know!

shirebound · 7 June 2009 · Chapter 25: Tulip's Tale: Part Three

A delightful story! :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Shirebound, I'm so very pleased to hear you liked it!!

shirebound · 7 June 2009 · Chapter 24: Of Bread and Butter

This makes me soooo hungry! I need to go have breakfast now. :)

Author's reply

Lol, oh but my granny's bread was awesome!

Pearl Took · 3 June 2009 · Chapter 24: Of Bread and Butter

This is as warm and enjoyable as the fresh bread you describe in the story. I love the charm of the new kittens tucked into Pippin's new blanket, a sight that even touches dear Tulip's heart. Thank you, Cathleen, for a lovely read :-)

Author's reply

Fresh bread to eat and kittens to play with - what more could a wee hobbit lad ask for? *Grin* Glad you enjoyed it, Pearl!!

Pearl Took · 12 April 2009 · Chapter 23: Tulip's Tale: Part Two

I love the way the cousins interact, and of course I love Tulip. I'm eager to read Paladin's story. Great fun as always, Cathleen! Hugs, Pearl

Larner · 6 April 2009 · Chapter 23: Tulip's Tale: Part Two

Tricked, was he? Well, he's now rectifying that! Am looking forward to hearing Paladin's tale, too!

Author's reply

Lol, Pippin always has the last word, doesn't he? Paladin's tale coming soon!

Andrea · 4 April 2009 · Chapter 23: Tulip's Tale: Part Two

“Don’t stick your tongue out at others, Peregrin,” Paladin scolded. “That isn’t polite.” Pippin frowned. “Even if it’s just Merry?” ROTFL!!! That was a great story! But now you've made me curious about Pal's story and the question if Merry might be somehow involved in it. It would be only fair if Merry received some teasing of his own ;-)

Author's reply

I couldn't agree more - I think Merry should receive some teasing too! And I think Pad might have exactly that in mind....

shirebound · 1 April 2009 · Chapter 23: Tulip's Tale: Part Two

I love how eager Pip and Tulip were for story-telling time. I was exactly the same way when I was little.

Author's reply

Me too! I loved listening to my granny's tales, she had the gift of a true storyteller. I hope you enjoy the tale Paladin is about to tell!

Pearl Took · 4 February 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

Bravo! A delightful story. More mothers could use that tactic with their messy young ones. Great fun Cathleen :-)

Author's reply

Thanks Pearl! This one was great fun to write and I'm so glad you liked it - that means a lot to me. Sorry my response is so late, but know that I take great delight in the wonderful comments you've given me, and always will!!

Larner · 4 February 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

As I've said elsewhere, I LOVE this one! Pippin is so perfect, and Bilbo's insistence this song is ONLY good in the bath such a good way of turning the mud-monster into the one who makes fountains leap on high we meet in Crickhollow!

Author's reply

Larner, you've been so very kind offering me FB at several different places where this is posted, and I'm sending big hugs and thank you's your way! I'm so very pleased to know you enjoyed it, thank you again!!

Stefania · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

Cathleen, you are the most delightful and imaginative writer. Your explanation of adult Pippin's joy in bathing was a wonderful bit of whimsy and totally plausible. Crafty Bilbo, eh? This little tale has made my morning. - Steff

Author's reply

Steff, a belated thank you, but nonetheless still very heartfelt! Thank you so very much for the gracious compliment - you made *my* morning the first time I read it! *Hugs*

Golden · 2 February 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

Very sweet! *giggles* I guess now Pippin has to get still more dirty all of the time, so that he can bath a whole lot! That also explains why he is smaller then the others when they leave on the Quest...too many hot bathes! ;) Golden P.S. Moooooooooooooooooooooooore, please! *g*

Author's reply

LOL! Thanks hon! Too many hot baths indeed...*snerk*

6336 · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

Typical boy! I think I would have just let him get dirty and bathe him when it was time to eat! Good way to get the tyke to take a bath though, a song that can only be sung in the bath! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so glad to hear you liked it!!

Andrea · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

“I want to sing my new song for you!” “Yes? Well, go ahead then.” “But Cousin Bilbo says this is a very special song and it can only be sung in the bathtub!” LOL!!! That's great! So, now I know where Pippin learned that very special song. I wonder if Bilbo ever regretted what he did. And once again Frodo realised little Tulip's play of features. But he still is not willing to actually believe what he just saw ;-)

Author's reply

Thank you Andrea! And, I think our Tulip still has a few surprises in store for Frodo...

shirebound · 31 January 2009 · Chapter 22: Splish Splash

Absolutely adorable! I love finding out the 'origin' of Pippin's delight with bathing, singing, and splashing all at once. Your Pippin is just too dear for words.

Author's reply

Thank you Shirebound! That is a wonderful compliment, I'm so pleased you like the way I write Pip!

Golden · 30 December 2008 · Chapter 21: Pig-Napped! Part Three

Very nice solution! I enjoyed reading the story very much. :) And would love to see some more Pippin Sancho stories. I think Sancho might like something like..a knitted bull or so. Or how about a knitted Olipaunt *g* maybe Sancho has heard from those too. Golden

Author's reply

Hey, I'm working as fast as I can!! Thanks so much for your wonderful bunnies, keep 'em coming! I've found I like Pip and Sancho tales too, and it seems to be fitting since they're the same age. Sancho has been written as such a bully most of the time and I'm having fun exploring a different kind of perspective of him. Hmm, a bull or an oliphaunt, huh? We'll see....but I already have the grain of an idea about that.....

Andrea · 27 December 2008 · Chapter 21: Pig-Napped! Part Three

“Come on!” Pippin tugged harder and Tulip leant him a hoof in the effort. It seemed an uneasy, but enduring friendship was already in the making. Great ending! Who would have thought of such a thief? In fact I hadn't heard of packrats until now. I only knew the Rat Pack ;-) Thank you for this wonderful Tulip story!

Author's reply

Thank you Andrea! Packrats are kind of cool and the idea just felt right to me.

Larner · 27 December 2008 · Chapter 21: Pig-Napped! Part Three

Oh, and it wasn't the little lass, either! I'm glad, you know? I was wondering about the provenance of packrats, thinking they were American, too. Am glad you decided to try it anyway! Although Lewis had beavers in Narnia, and they are certainly not native to Britain, either! Love the final decision by Pippin to have Eglantine create a new friend for Sancho, too! Wonderful!

Author's reply

Sometimes it's just more fun to use an element from a different place and/or time, and I'm glad I did. I debated over it quite a lot before going ahead. Thanks so much for your comments! We'll have to see what Eglantine figures out for Sancho's toy!!

shirebound · 26 December 2008 · Chapter 21: Pig-Napped! Part Three

if Tulip dropped it when she was pig-napped perhaps she was trying to leave us a clue where to come look for her Of course! :) I never dreamed who or what the thief really was. Very clever!

Author's reply

Thanks so much Shirebound! I'm very pleased to hear that!!

Andrea · 27 October 2008 · Chapter 20: Pig-Napped! Part Two

A mystery indeed! I have no clue where Tulip might be. Paladin, on the other hand, seems to be very certain about her whereabouts. I'm glad that Sancho's mother believed him that he did not take the wee piglet. And I'm impressed by Merry's skills in calming down the children, as were all the mothers present, I believe. He's a natural talent :)

Author's reply

Heh heh - I think Merry would be a dream come true to have around small kids! Thank you so much Andrea, for continuing to read and comment on my Tulip tales!! *Hugs*

shirebound · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 20: Pig-Napped! Part Two

Oh yay, I think she's about to be found. This is a wonderful lesson for the lads about making accusations without proof.

Author's reply

Thank you! I think it's a good, as well as surprising lesson, too. And, a good way for the boys to deepen their friendship and learn more about each other.

Larner · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 20: Pig-Napped! Part Two

I am so glad that Sapphire is willing to believe her son, and even more so that Paladin does! How wonderful! Now, to find that pig! A marvelous little mystery this is proving. And you may consider taking these two chapters and moving them to a story of their own!

Author's reply

Oh, I'm so glad to hear you're enjoying this, Larner - thank you for the encouragement! It's taken a bit longer to finish due to the flurry of the holidays but I finally did it. Umm, what do you mean about taking the chapters to a story of its own? Do you have some suggestions for expanding any parts? I'd love to hear about it if you do, I'm always open to FB!

Pearl Took · 26 October 2008 · Chapter 20: Pig-Napped! Part Two

Wonderful, marvelous, terrific!! This is a wonderful mystery. Thank you so very much, Cathleen! Hugs! Pearl

Author's reply

Thanks Pearl! So glad you're liking it! Happy belated B-Day!! *Hugs*

Andrea · 24 September 2008 · Chapter 19: Pig-Napped! Part One

Yes, where is the little piglet? It is very likely that Sancho took her. Even his mother suspects him. On the other hand it's far too obvious ;-) Esmie might have been right when she stated that Sancho would have liked a stuffed animal of his own. For who knows *why* he doesn't have one! I'm looking forward to reading more.

Author's reply

Thank you Andrea! I hope you enjoy the next chapter too. I hope to have it posted by next week, and I think it will answer some of your questions!

shirebound · 23 September 2008 · Chapter 19: Pig-Napped! Part One

Oh, where is she? I hope she's someplace warm and dry, and will be found soon.

Author's reply

Never fear! Tulip will be fine!! And maybe have a few surprises to tell...
