Larner · 5 April 2008 · Chapter 28

I feared this just might happen. Now, to find out just how they're going to win through this time! Alas!

Author's reply

I think everyone did. It won't be easy, but we can hope. Alas, indeed.

Naledi · 5 April 2008 · Chapter 28

I just knew the trolls would put in an appearance before long! At least our heroes seem marginally better for their rest. I hope they'll manage to evade capture this time...

Author's reply

Looks like you were right, but I don't htink L & A are too happy that your are. The sleep they managed to get has restored some of their strength, which is certainly good. We'll have to wait and see if that happens.

kaytee · 4 April 2008 · Chapter 28

No! Not more trolls. Time for this to end. They have had enough. Where are the twins or a dragon when you need them. Excellent chapter. I eagerly await more.

Author's reply

Well, it is the title of the story. :o) I think L & A feel the same way. I wish I knew, because they could sure use the help. Thank you. I'll update when I can.

Agape4Gondor · 20 March 2008 · Chapter 27

Wow - another great, harrowing chapter. Great tension. I couldn't even make notes as I read, for my heart was in my throat as these two suffered torment. I must be glad for little things - at least they are out of the full brunt of the storm!

Author's reply

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I was aiming for tension and torment. I hope you are back to being relaxed, especially since our guys have found shelter - for the moment. :o)

Kestrel · 15 March 2008 · Chapter 27

Whew! I was afraid those boulders they had to climb over were going to be sleeping trolls, or something. What nasty weather this place has! Must be the wettest place on Arda. Poor Legolas, "But, I am an elf!" This is quite an eye-opener for him, usually he is dragging Aragorn along.

Author's reply

I think if the plot bunny had thought of the sleeping troll idea, he'd have put it in the story. :o) I think I live in the wettest place 'in Arda'. It storms here about every other day (bad ones predicted for tonight). Legolas finding he can't climb a rock wall was a real eye-opener for him, not to mention frustrating.

Naledi · 15 March 2008 · Chapter 27

My heart bled for Legolas when he had to face up to the fact that he couldn't climb up to the cave. It just goes to show how desperate they are if they can call a couple of rocks a shelter. I hope they catch up with their horses soon!

Author's reply

I thought that after the trees wouldn't talk to him, this was another blow to show how bad he felt. It is sad. I agree. And I imagine those rocks look pretty good after all they've been through. I also hope they and their horses get together soon! :o)

Larner · 14 March 2008 · Chapter 27

At least there is SOME shelter here, and a level of concealment; plus the returning storm should wash away the signs of their passage. Now, to ride out the storm and FIND THOSE HORSES!

Author's reply

What they have is certainly better than nothing, both in terms of shelter and concealment. We'll see if their trail is washed away or not. :o) I agree. They need to find those horses. We'll see about that, too.

harrowcat · 14 March 2008 · Chapter 27

The 'shelter' may be Valar sent but it sounds like they need just a little bit more - food, warmth, medical care etc, etc, etc, etc,........

Author's reply

Considering where they had been, this bit of shelter means a lot to them. I agree that they need all the things you mentioned. We'll see if they get any of it.

Naledi · 22 February 2008 · Chapter 26

Oh no! I was worried that they'd been swept back into Troll country and now we find out that they were. I've got a bad feeling about this... How typical of Legolas to want to return to help the trees. That was a nice touch :)

Author's reply

It may be that they never left troll country. Either way, it isn't good. Your feelings may be right on. :o) Glad you liked that touch. I couldn't help but think that that is something Legolas would most definitely want to do.

Larner · 21 February 2008 · Chapter 26

Alas, poor Legolas. Trees cut off from communication, and willing at this point to accept a cave, even. But they DO need such a thing right now! Now--cave, yes. Cave troll, NO!

Author's reply

Poor Legolas indeed. Those are two things that definitely shouldn't relate to our favorite elf. Our guys are having enough trouble with the forest trolls. They certainly do not need a cave troll.

Agape4Gondor · 21 February 2008 · Chapter 26

There are so many really wonderful touches in this chapter. The lack of energy and strength that Aragorn feels; Legolas trying not to worry Aragorn any more than the man already was; Aragorn's odd and unexpected thought about death; the lack of any comfort whatsoever, especially for Legolas with his trees; the fact that each was thinking the exact opposite of the other; and finally, the sadness at the damage done to Legolas. Well, I'm very glad to have found this chapter and will wait for the next....................

Author's reply

I try to layer my stories with those kinds of touches to make a richer texture to the tale for the readers. I'm glad you liked them. I think the sadest one was the silent trees. That has to be awful for a wood-elf. I'll updaate as soon as I can.

Twilight Haven · 17 January 2008 · Chapter 25

Oh you tease!!!!! You realise you have us all on the edge of our respective chairs, our knuckles white as they're gripping our keyboard!!! As always you have outdone yourself as the mistress of suspense! I eagerly await to see what trials the duo have to undergo before they're given a (hopefully small!) reprieve. *salivates*

Author's reply

That was a bit of a tease, wasn't it? Glad I could add some excitement to your reeading pleasure. :o) Thanks for the compliment. It's always fun to add suspense to a story. I'm sure our guys will have a hard time before they find any peace. That seems to be their way.

Naledi · 17 January 2008 · Chapter 25

At least they're out of the river, but in the state they're in it's going to be a struggle for them to get to safety. I hope the horses find them before the trolls do...

Neilia · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 25

Yeeeessss! They are out of the river...more, please. I hope they are beyond the reach of nasty trolls...those creatures are getting tiresome in their nastiness!

Author's reply

Yes, our elf and ranger are finally out of the river. I also hope they are beyond the reach of the trolls, because I'm sure that L & A would agree that those creatures' nastiness is getting tiresome. They need some peace! :o)

demeter d · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 25

Wow! A Happy New Year, indeed! Our lads are both alive, and off of the roller -coaster, for now. But why do I think they have left that ride only to enter the Haunted House? I am still holding my breath!

Author's reply

You don't sound like you believe that L & A are out of trouble yet. Gee, I wonder what makes you think that? :o) I hope you don't turn blue. I want you back for the next chapter.

harrowcat · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 25

I thought you were dead.” “So did I.” Despite himself, a grin broke out on the ranger’s face. “I’m glad we were both wrong.” And so say all of us!!!!

Author's reply

I think everyone but my plot bunny is happy about that. :o)

Larner · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 25

At least they're past the trolls--for now, at least! Now, if only the horses would show up--hint, hint, hint.... Heh!

Author's reply

That is definitely one thing to be thankful for, especially if it lasts. The horses do need to show up, don't they? :o)

Agape4Gondor · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 25

I desperately hope they are beyond the trolls.... and very glad they are both alive. What a harrowing ride!

Author's reply

I'm sure L & A are both hoping the very same thing! :o) That would be a fun ride in a boat but not the way they ended up doing it.

Agape4Gondor · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 24

Wow! I missed this chapter and it is spell-binding - to say the least. Excellent tension all the way along. I loved Aragorn's resolve and his tenacity, but my goodness, the two of them are suffering!

Author's reply

Well, at least you got to read the chapter now. :o) I'm very glad that you enjoyed it and that it kept you spellbound throughout. Aragorn is a determined soul, isn't he? That's a good thing. L & A are definitely suffering. Poor guys.

harrowcat · 20 December 2007 · Chapter 24

Happy New Year? For whom? You are leaving us with Legolas drowning and Aragorn surfing somewhere in a raging torrent of water and yet you wish us a Merry Christmas. That is pure wickedness! *g* Merry Christmas and a wonderful New your to you and yours too!

Author's reply

Oh dear. It seems the plot bunny has outdone himself this time. Everyone seems unhappy that L & A are being left in the situation they are in. I have to agree that it is pure wickedness. Loved the way you described Aragorn's predicament: surfing somewhere in a torrent of water. That's a wild vision.

Larner · 19 December 2007 · Chapter 24

Ah, out of the fire and into a cold pot, might we put it? Aragorn--come get him! Poor lads!

Author's reply

That is a good way of putting it. I'm sure Aragorn would do just that, if he could. I can say no more at this time. :o)

demeter d · 19 December 2007 · Chapter 24

We see things from each one's point of view, and an overview of both. And as usual, you move us out of one crisis smack into the next! Way to leave us hanging! (But of course, we love every word of it!)

Author's reply

I like showing things from different points of view. I think it adds a richer texture to the story. L & A wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they weren't in some kind of a mess. Glad you love it!

Neilia · 19 December 2007 · Chapter 24

Aaagh! May we please have Legolas at least right-side-up and breathing for the Holidays? Please! Of course, your chapter did what you intended, left us high and dry until the next one...but...

Author's reply

That would have been nice, but it's too late now. The dear elf will just have to hold his breath a while longer. Suspense is a good thing, don't you agree? Too bad L & A aren't high and dry right now. :o)

Naledi · 19 December 2007 · Chapter 24

What? No! How can you leave it there and then calmly wish us a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year? Seriously though, a highly enjoyable chapter as usual. You've really managed to convey the tension and anxiety of the situation. Both of our heroes seem to be at the very end of their endurance. I don't see how they could have got much further on their own two feet even without the mishap in the river. Where are those horses? If your plot bunny is still in control, I'd say it's a safe bet that Legolas will get rescued from the river just in the nick of time, but by a troll. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, too!

Author's reply

It's easy. The cliffie comes from the plot bunny; the holiday wishes come from me. :o) I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter and the description of the scenes. The guys are indeed at the end of their endurance, but it looks like they are in a situation that will call for even more strength from them. I can't tell you about the horses just yet. Please don't give the plot bunny any ideas. I'm trying to save our guys. :o)

Agape4Gondor · 23 November 2007 · Chapter 23

Excellent taut and tense chapter...

Author's reply

Thank you. I'm very pleased you liked it.
