Frodo is so precious and adorable here---can I tell you how much I loved the whole scene with him fearing Aragorn would have forgotten him? Absolutely adorable---especially Frodo being carried and placed in Aragorn's lap. *sighs blissfully* And I want to join in giving gift baskets to the ranger, too!
Author's reply
Sleepy Frodo, bundled-up carried Frodo, Frodo on Big Laps... *sigh* Thank you, Lily! Is that Texas BBQ I see in one of those baskets?

Almost too many good things to list, such as
breakfast in bed for Frodo and Estel and Scamp
(this makes me hungry)
snuggling
Gamgees being kind
hobbits being grateful
mail
Aragorn starting to remember
Bilbo sleeping in
Will have to reread to find the rest! Hooray!
Author's reply
Awwwww. Thank you, Amy! It's lovely to write a snuggly chapter. :D

Sam is going to get one of the puppies, right?
Author's reply
Thanks, Endaewen! As for the puppies... we'll see! *grins*

Ah, those real life constraints.
As a matter of fact, I'm interrupted, just as Frodo's tears are being gently wiped away. I will wistfully set chapter aside, for later reading, and send good thoughts in your direction.
Author's reply
Thanks, Lin! For some reason, summer is the busiest time of year for me, when it's hard to find enough writing/reading time. *hugs*

Well now I'm so curious as to what Aragorn needs to tell Bilbo, and what it is he is afraid to remember. And the Gaffer had better let them have one of Scamp's pups!!
Author's reply
Ahhh, Scamp's pups. We shall see! *grins* :D

“Maybe you don’t want to remember whatever it is.”
Clever Frodo! Maybe that's exactly the point, though at the moment Aragorn even can't remember why he should not remember ;-) What a sentence - makes me dizzy, too. No wonder, he's got a headache. But I think you know what I mean?
Good old Bilbo! Gilly's advice is reasonable, but it will be very difficult for him to really relax.
Author's reply
Yes, there are definitely some things yet to be resolved (including Bilbo getting some rest!). Thank you for reading, Andrea.

That is just what I needed Shirebound a nice, calm and comfort-sharing chapter. I agree - get some rest Bilbo. Looking after others can be more tiring than being ill yourself. The worry does it most of all.
Author's reply
Thanks, harrowcat. It was time for some comfy cuddles! :D

I'm just catching up with this again and it is so good! You know I have a special place in my heart for Frodo being carried and cuddled and this contains both those...in one place! Bliss! Loving it!

hi! sorry i haven't reviewed in a while, i've been on holiday for two weeks with no internet access.
i love estel's instinct to check the wound! maybe you could send him and his healing hands my way, as i got my ears pierced again today and they are very sore!
i also loved it when frodo found out that aragorn hadn't forgotten him, it was one of those perfect moments that always bless your stories!
I'm still loving halbarad, i hope it all goes well with the dwarves. i know he'll make aragorn proud!!
Author's reply
Welcome back, Elly! *waves* Hope you had a great holiday. Thank you so much for reading.
(I've never had my ears pierced even once!)

I hope Bilbo is a help to poor Estel. And dear Scamp, sounds like she's about to pop!!
Such a nice story for a morning's read :) *happy sigh*
Author's reply
Thank you, Pearl. Bilbo is good friend, and might just be able to assist Estel in finding the "help unlooked-for" that he needs.

At last! Sunday afternoon is here. Too hot to tidy and clean or, worse, get the iron out, so what else is there to do but catch up with the reviews! What a chore! *g*
Go Halbarad you are going to be great. I love his care for Scamp.
Oh! An hour later after a phone call......
I am glad that Sam had the sense to get Frodo to Estel.
Author's reply
It's very hot where I live, too! *melts*
Yes, Sam was brave enough to say "no" to Frodo, and Frodo was smart enough to stay put until Halfred could come get him. :D

Sweet and loving end to that chapter and Frodo knowing he's safe with Sam. I'm glad I finally get the time to read this latest chapter - looking forward to more! Frodo is indeed unforgettable! :)
Namerie, God bless, Antane
Author's reply
Thank you, Antane! I know how hard it is to find time to do all the reading and writing we want to do.
Oh...that was good! Very good! But poor Frodo. Gilly's right though, at least he won't remember it. And poor Aragorn. Ouch! He probably got more of the explosion force than Frodo did because he was carrying Frodo. This was good and I'm really enjoying reading it. However, my reading/writing time may suffer pretty soon. I just applied for some jobs, so...well, you know. Anyway, have a great day...night. Whatever it is for you! :) Namarie!
God BLess,
Frodo Baggins
Post Script: Forgive me. I forgot, you don't need to worry about the cliff hanger...I'll help you tonight. Just don't let go! ;)
Author's reply
Thank you, Frodo. And good luck with the jobs! I hope you get the perfect one. :D

Happy Scamp, baskets of food, bandaged Rangers and cuddly hobbits! What more could anyone ask? *happy sigh*
Poor Frodo, so afraid he might have been forgotten - I'm so thankful that Aragorn remembered him, even if he doesn't remember he's the future King! He has his priorities in the right order! :-))
There was so much to adore in this chapter - the food left by concerned families who realise that the Ranger saved a lot of lives, Halbarad taking Scamp into the garden and leaving her a chew toy to play with when he left, Sam being the soul of discretion even now, Halfred's practicality....... Loved everything, Shirebound.
Intended to review this before but was hit by the migraine from Mordor, so apologies for the delay.
Author's reply
Awwww, thank you, BB! Aragorn certainly does have his priorities straight... reassuring his 'little one' is what really matters.
Augh, migraines. I've had them for over 20 years, and completely understand.

Aragorn smiled gently down at Frodo. “What did I tell you, little one, years ago when you were so ill?”
“That I was unforgettable,” Frodo whispered.
“You are,” Aragorn assured him. “Never doubt it, Frodo. You are.”
Awww! That he is, unforgettable!
Like Cuthalion, I was really taken with that little note "(scribed for) Lily Cotton" .
Poor and unimportant families they may be, but particularly those families form the Shire, that I love so much :)
I hope, Estel will be able to remember the "unimportant" things, too ;-)
Author's reply
Thank you, Andrea! It was time we got to some cuddlyness. And no matter what the Shirefolk think of the mysterious Rangers, at least they now know that one of them is a good person who saved a lot of lives.

Another wonderful chapter!! One thing I particularly love about this story is how well you show the traits each character possesses that will later be so important in LotR, for example Sam's discretion in not mentioning to Halfred what he had overheard. Poor Frodo with his fear of being abandoned and forgotten- but Aragorn knew exactly what to say, thank goodness!
Author's reply
I'm so glad you're enjoying this! I do think we show our "qualities" early, and Sam was probably always a very sensible hobbit, with a keen sense of what is "appropriate" and what is not.

This made me smile so much!
I really loved the baskets and the notes--so very hobbity, and food would just naturally seem the right way to show gratitude from a hobbit!
And Estel remembers Frodo. That has to be a load off Frodo's mind!
Author's reply
That's what was bothering Frodo the most! Being injured and dizzy and hungry are nothing compared to his dear friend perhaps not remembering him.
Yay, I'm glad this made you smile. :D

I don't know what I like most about this chapter - all those tasty presents (and that delightful note, "(written for) Lily Cotton") or the last scene when Aragorn tells Frodo that he's unforgettable. The image of that ranger with the bandaged head, smiling down at the young hobbit in his lap will make me smile the rest of the day. (And did I mention that "your" Sam is simply adorable?)

Hi Shirebound! I hope you don't mind as I'm reviewing as I read along:
Halbarad on doggie duty is so sweet--carrying her outside to do her thing and making sure she is well-fed and has plenty of water. I do wonder what present he left for her though.
Poor Bilbo is finally conked out. I really enjoyed the attention to detail as those hobbits of 'poor and unimportant families' left him thank-you notes (even those that couldn't write)and baskets upon baskets of food. The hobbits in the area make sure that Bilbo and his lad are very well taken care of.
Good luck to Halbarad on his mission to see the Dwarves.
Yeah! Frodo's awake again!! And little Sam is just too cute. I want to cuddle him and Frodo in a big hug and kiss their curly little heads.
Scamp got a leather bone to chew on! I was thinking her mathom was along the lines of a bone of some sort ... but not a leather one. Very cool :D
Bell!! Bell Gamgee is always such a delight to any tale, especially when she comes ready to make breakfast! (and a hungry hobbit is always a good sign)
LOL! I can picture the dirty, smelly, dangerous looking Ranger being bathed by a bunch of little hobbits.
>>He can’t remember a few things. “What?” Frodo cried out. Of all fears he harbored from his childhood, that of being abandoned, overlooked... forgotten... had never quite left him. And Estel had promised. “I have to see him,” he insisted<<
How very true ... no matter how loved and cared for an orphan is, they will almost always psychologically harbor the fear of being abandoned again. I looked foward to Aragorn and Frodo's reunion, and as always you did not dissapoint, Shirebound. Very well done and looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's reply
Thank you for your review! Yes, this Aragorn-Frodo reunion simply must continue into the next chapter... along with more puppy, food, and love. :D
