Andrea · 2 October 2007 · Chapter 41: Chasing Blackie

“You are quite correct Pippin. How did you come to fall into the puddle?” “I tripped over Blackie.” Another deep sigh escaped his mother’s lips. LOL!!! So he tripped over an imaginary cat, did he? That's prizeless, Pearl! At least little Pippin has a vivid imagination. And an imaginary pet is always very useful when you need to find a culprit ;-) No writer's funk to be found here! So, I think Golden was right: It worked!

Author's reply

Thank you very much Andrea :-) Imaginary pets can be very dangerous ;-) I think it did too.

cathleen · 2 October 2007 · Chapter 41: Chasing Blackie

Pearl, this is precious! I do hope your writer's funk is much better now! Cathleen

Author's reply

Thank you cathleen and so far it seems to be - I'm hoping it stays that way :-)

Agape4Gondor · 1 October 2007 · Chapter 41: Chasing Blackie

That was delightful and I truly think the Muse is back!!!

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked it Agape, and I think you're right :-)

shirebound · 1 October 2007 · Chapter 41: Chasing Blackie

She curled her fingers under his small chin and looked lovingly into his sparkling eyes. He was such an imp! But he was her imp. She gently kissed the tip of his slowly bruising nose. Awwww. This is so sweet, Pearl.

Author's reply

Thank you shirebound :-)

cookiefleck · 17 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

Good story and a great ending. I can picture the look on Sam's face.

Author's reply

Hi cookiefleck and thank you :-) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Larner · 17 July 2007 · Chapter 40: The Right to Bear Arms

Being quick and accurate is important, and Pippin proved himself capable of that already. Yes, I think a certain Big Person learned to respect Hobbits and their abilities there. Lovely vignette.

Author's reply

Thank you so much, Larner. Tolkien said the hobbits are quick and knew how to make good use of it. Boromir learned a lot, I think, while in Rivendell ;-)

Larner · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

Old Tom certainly pulled a fast one on Sam to test his mettle. Wily would-be father-in-law! Love it!

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner. Old Tom always struck me as being pretty sharp.

Andrea · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 40: The Right to Bear Arms

“You are dead, Big Person!” Pippin hissed in Boromir’s ear. LOL!!! That was great, Pearl! And since I finally know what it means: MEWD :)

Author's reply

Cool! I earned a MEWD :-) Thank you so much, Andrea!

Agape4Gondor · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

Oh! That was such fun, PT - hooray for Sam and horray for Rosie - who's dad cares enough to take a big chance!!! I had to giggle though - I wrote a drabble awhile back about Sam and Taters in Minas Tirith - I'll have to share it with you. I think you'll enjoy it! Dear, dear Sam - you got him good!

Author's reply

Thank you, Agape. Glad I brought you a smile and a giggle :-) Please do send me the drabble or the link to it, I'd love to read it!

Daynawayna · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 40: The Right to Bear Arms

awwww, LOVE it! I like Boromir/hobbit stories! It's cool to see the softer side of Boz. LOL And nice job Pip! :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Daynawayna! It's something I've learned in fencing - never underestimate your opponent!

harrowcat · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 40: The Right to Bear Arms

Silly Boromir - but at least he is willing to learn!

Author's reply

Yes, harrowcat. Much as he seems a bit unteachable at first, he learned a lot as the Quest went on. Thank you!

harrowcat · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

This is brilliant Pearl. You had me as annoyed as Sam at the beginning! And I'd bet that Sam never even registered Farmer Cotton's final compliment! *g*

Author's reply

Hahaha! Most likely not! His mind stopped at who Old Tom's lass might end up with ;-) Thank you, harrowcat :-)

Daynawayna · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

:O ROFLOL!! POOR SAM! ROFLOL!! Oh my, that Tom Cotton is a smart one, isn't he!?!? ::giggles:: Poor Sam! But bully for him! I don't think he'd have done that a year before... so who would Rosie have 'ended up with' then? :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Daynawayna :-) I don't think he would have either. That's an interesting question, who might she have ended up with?

Lindelea · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 40: The Right to Bear Arms

I love your competent hobbits! “We do wrestle back at home,” he said brightly. Modest, too. Very hobbity understating of the matter. Thanks for a grin to start the week.

Author's reply

You are most welcome, Lindelea! I'm so glad you liked it. With working on "The Blessing" I've been needing something lighter myself ;-)

Lindelea · 16 July 2007 · Chapter 39: A Need to Know

LOL! Crafty old fellow, that Tom Cotton.

Author's reply

Hehehe Yes he is! Gotta watch out for these old hobbits ;-) Thanks Lin!

Andrea · 20 June 2007 · Chapter 38: "Way Out West"

Dear Pearl, I enjoyed this story a great deal! I don't mind, if it might be AU or not, because it is very much in-character for both, Merry and Pippin - and for the elves, who were able to make them think that it was but a dream! Maybe it was even consoling or at least distracting when they found out the truth after so many years on that very day when Frodo left Middle Earth.

Author's reply

Hi Andrea & Thank you :-) I'm glad you enjoyed the story! I also think it helped them at that stressful time.

Larner · 19 June 2007 · Chapter 38: "Way Out West"

Swift indeed the horses of the Elves, and wonderful their magic to trick the minds of lesser beings. And a dream it was NOT. So glad they recognized that truth. A wonderful tale, Pearl, of two of those descended from the faerie wife.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner :-) Glad you enjoyed it! Interesting things those Immortals can do . . . ;-)

Lindelea · 19 June 2007 · Chapter 38: "Way Out West"

Lovely! I wondered if this were better marked "AU" but you handled it beautifully. Gave me shivers.

Author's reply

Thank you, Lin :-) I'm glad it was shivery. AU because they weren't supposed to ever have gone so far from the Shire? I hadn't even remembered that Merry tells Haldir that he's never seen the Havens nor been out of the Shire - Llinos and Marigold brought it up to me as they thought I had intentionally done this to panic those who did remember and know I like to stick to canon. Hehehe The twist is a bit different (and better) than I had originally written. Llinos came up with what's here, though it's similar to what I had. Thank you for giving it a read, Lin :-)

Andrea · 18 May 2007 · Chapter 37: Heirloom

Well, a certain sentence comes into my mind which I used just yesterday: "Lalia is a hopeless case!" I think it was quite fitting that the mithril thimble did not fit her ;-) A special heirloom for a very special hobbit family! Thank you :)

Author's reply

You're welcome and thank you, Andrea! With how hefty Lalia is described as being, I figured her fingers wouldn't be very slender either, hehehe.

Andrea · 18 May 2007 · Chapter 36: A Dragon in Buckland

What a beautiful little story, Pearl! I enjoyed it a great deal! And I believe it was more than the pure moonlight that made Pippin look like the dragon :) I remember your story about Esme and the dragon as well! I think I mentioned that movie. So, thankyou to Baggins Babe for providing the title. "Dragonheart"- of course, how could I forget. Last but not least: “Now, Peregrin Took. What do you know about the dragon drawings that have been showing up all over the Hall, and why haven’t I been given one?” ROTFL!!! That is indeed a very good question :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Andrea :-) I'm so glad you enjoyed my wee story. That is a good question ;-)

Baggins Babe · 15 May 2007 · Chapter 36: A Dragon in Buckland

This was lovely - clever, kind, thoughtful Pippin, wise Esme, sensible Merry and horrid Ilbie getting his comeuppance. I hate bullying so I was delighted to see that. The dragon sounds sweet too - I remember the dragon story because it made me cry! The film one of your other reviewers was trying to remember was 'Dragonheart' and Sean Connery provided the voice of Draco. I've always loved dragons and I'm fascinated that they appear in the mythology of so many cultures. Spiced tea and scones sounds awfully good - do you think they'd mind if I joined them?

Author's reply

They would love to have you join them, BB :-) I've never seen "Dragonheart". Wanted to and just haven't, I should try to remember to rent it sometime :-) Poor Ilbie, I've made him a villian. LOL Thank you so much for reading and responding, BB!

Larner · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 37: Heirloom

What a wonderful legacy! And only Lalia wasn't worthy of it all!

Author's reply

Hehehe Poor hobbitess, she wasn't worthy of a lot of things! Thank you for reading and responding, Larner :-)

Larner · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 36: A Dragon in Buckland

Lovely work by our little Ernil.

Author's reply

Thank you Larner :-)

Grey Wonderer · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 35: A Hobbit's Tale

I loved this one on the challenge site and just had to read it again. For some reason here lately I have been into reading poetry and I haven't done that in a while. You have a great way with a poem and it made me wonder if you had ever written any song lyrics since I know that music is a part of your life. Just curious. : )

Author's reply

Hi GW, Bruce and I wrote some together ages ago, nothing much recently. I used to write a fair amount of poetry - much of it sorta soppy and grandiose. LOL I'm so glad you enjoyed this enough to read it again, thank you!

Larner · 29 April 2007 · Chapter 35: A Hobbit's Tale

Oh, what a wonderful tale about the tale that started it all! Thank you, Pearl!

Author's reply

You're welcome and thank you, Larner :-)
