Ah, so in this alternate universe one of the twins is injured at the very least? At least she has know the joy of her marriage! This is a very complicated situation in which she wasn't yet born when she went back in time....
But at least in this one Sauron has fallen. That is always good.
Author's reply
I'm trying to get caught up on comments! Thanks so much for your review. Yes, it is always good when Sauron loses - otherwise he just causes havoc in the world. =)

I'm glad Laureanna and Elrohir are finally together again! Their first night (or should that be second?) was wonderful :)
I still think the Valar are very cruel to Laureanna - telling her the ring has been destroyed, but not what she really needs to know. Like everyone else, I'm desperate to know too - what's happened to Elladan and Elrohir???

I'm late on comments. *hangs head* Thanks for your review. The Valar aren't always known for being fair. And what fun would it be if they told her everything!?

It gets better and better... A great piece....
I love the courtship of Laureanna and Elrohir and how he stood up to Glorfindel, that was brave of him.
Laureanna, you have to feel for her. She sees a vision that may or may not happen and it is about her parent. She needs more direction and has none.
Elrohir is her saving grace, and she has confronted him, at least he now amits he loves her. She wants him to make her his wife, if he dies she will wait for him.
A very good piece...Love it...
Author's reply
Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoy it. I knew I needed to let Laureanna get back some of her fiery spirit now she's been in Middle Earth for awhile. She *is* Glorfindel's daughter but to be Elrohir's wife she had to have a lot of spirit and backbone as well. It was time for her to show it. ;)

Ah--an Elven wedding! No need for parties and invitations and special dresses or anything else--they are married once their hröa are joined. And he accepts that he loves her as much as she loves him. It's about time that they join! And I'm glad she has Legolas as her voice of reason. Things are indeed going as they are supposed to be.
Author's reply
Yeah if only mortal marriages were so easy but then again since we would be bound for ever - perhaps not lol Yes, Legolas is much needed to temper her impulsive actions. The Valar knew what they were doing there. =)

Wow! Really powerful! Halbarad's death and all it makes L. realize was really powerfully written. And Halbarad's words were all perfect. That must have been hard to write. Great chapter!

Thanks hon. It was hard to write. Poor Halbarad went through a few re-writes lol He died for a month or so.

Very good chapter,so sad when Halbarad dies as we all knew he had to,but what a nice touch to have her with him to comfort him in his passing, that was so very sweet. I can't wait for more, and I still can't wrap my mind around on how you will end this all and bring all the pieces together in the story but I will just have to wait and see won't I? Thankyou for the wonderful story,Hugs Deb the Imp

Thanks Deb. I wanted to give Halbarad more than a passing mention which Tolkien did. I thought he deserved a bit more.

I rejoice that Halbarad had her by him at the end, and that she was able to find her Elrohir afterwards.
As for the courage it took to ask Glorfindel in the beginning for her hand in marriage...well, that a good deal. She already knows she has married one of the great hearts of Arda! And now she has seen the courage of his mortal kindred as well, and has helped restore the balance with Middle Earth that Sauron might be destroyed.
Author's reply
Along the journey, Laureanna has a great appreciation for mortals which is good because she'll need it for what's coming. ;)~

Very nice...
Poor Laureanna, they locked her up, but still orcs came aboard. And then she sees what real battle is, and Halbarad is injured. I like that she stayed with him as he died and how hard she tried to fight for him when the healers said thier was no hope.
I think Elrohir and Laureanna relationship is growing and even Elrohir is admitting his feelings. I wonder what revengr that she plans to do to the twins for the tea and locking her up.
Nice job...

Her revenge is coming lol But she'll wait until they are out of mortal danger at least. She did get a crash course in war, much like Pippin and Merry did.

Love the begining and the blossoming of Laureanna and Elrohir's romance, and them on the beach. If Glorfindel ever finds out Elrohir is correct when he says he will break ever bone in his body....nice...
Poor Laureanna being drugged by Elrohir, when she wakes up he's going to hear it from her.
It seems Elrohir is falling for her, but dosen't know what to do...
Can't wait to hear more...

I'm sorry - I'm horribly behind on replying to reviews! I'm glad you are enjoying the story thus far. I'm really enjoying writing it. Elrohir and Laureanna have taken over the writing a few times lol Especially him! =)

Oh dear - Elrohir, I don't think that was a good idea! Drugging her for her own good? She won't be pleased when she wakes up!
I like the rapidly developing relationship between them, but Elrohir must have an amazing amount of self-control to resist Laurëanna like that ;)

Now, that was a shock and a half to realize he'd drugged her--but an understandable precaution, I think. But she's very intent on making certain that he desires her as much as she desires him. Good!
Now--as to the meaning of that dream?
Author's reply
lol Yeah I figured no one would expect the twins to slip her a mickey but they've seen how well it goes when she is told to stay behind.
Her dreams are sometimes warnings of the future and others just flat out nightmares. The problem is she has to determine which ones to act on.
Author Reply: Oh and as to the meaning of this dream, he was telling her that as long as a good leader survives, he can rebuild. Eärendil survived Gondolin. Elendil survived the sinking of Numenor. So if Aragorn survives, he can rebuild.

How happy I was to see this update this morning when I woke up! I have been following this story for ages it seems and I just love it! I do feel sorry for Elrohir when she wakes up, I don't think I would want to be in his shoes. Laureanna always knows which twinn is which, very nice. It was mean of Elrohir to send Elladan hunting while he had planned a nice picnic with Laureanna. Typical of Elrohir though.
Poor laureanna, having to kill that person. Elrohir and her in the cabin as she fell asleep, I think he is starting to care to her.
Very nice, please update soon...

Thanks =) Elrohir had to trick Elladan since he wasn't giving up lol He's not a bad guy - just a little stubborn.

YAY! ANOTHER CHAPTER!! Wow Alassante... great writing and so worth the wait! I love the past/present writing style... makes it a tad confusing after a year (nothing a re-read of the prev. chapter won't fix!) but it's neat to see them courting each other then and now. Even though he's not really courting her now, but I love how his fea KNOWS... what a wonderfully tortureous trip you have us on! LOL
I can't imagine being in Laurie's Place... knowing him as her husband and meeting him single and different... the secrets and insecurities... Makes the mind boggle. I can't wait to see how this all ends up (bookverse I would hope! LOL) and if she will continue to exist...? Well, she's already changed her history so I guess she still will... oh Time is SO CONFUSING!!
And I liked the Dream with Arwen. Poor Laurie is being put thru the Valar wringer, isn't she? LOL
Looking forward to more chapters in the Very Near Future! :D

I'm glad it was worth the wait. I felt so rusty and it was good to get this chapter done so I can keep going. The Paradox is confusing. Sometimes I have to think twice about things lol But if you remember the Valar altered her existance to prevent her from disappearing if she changed her future/her parents' past.

· Chapter 13: Blood and Honor
Battle scenes are extremely hard to write because, while watching action on the screen is very exciting, reading about hack and slash is very repetitive and therefore uninteresting. I think the way you handled this battle scene was very well done--it was fascinating to see L's reaction to something she was seeing for the first time. And putting her in the position to actually have to kill someone! That part was extremely well done.
I also like how the backflash in the beginning where we see E2 jokingly competing over L meshes/contrasts with how Elladan is helping them come together in this different time. You use these flashbacks well.
And of course I liked the end! :-)

There are a number of interesting, well-written stories on this site (and others) that I have started to read and enjoy, only to discover they have been abandoned by the author. I was more than a little upset thinking that this was one of them, since I only read it about a month ago.
I was THRILLED to see the update alert today! WoooHooo! I'm so glad you found your muse again, because I love this story. Thank you for continuing it...I am looking foward to more.

· Chapter 9: Secret Whispers in the Night
Nice scene between Legolas and Laureanna about Eowyn. Once you know the future, the urge to "fix things" can be overpowering. I also like the dream given to Elladan. The Valar are intruding beyond just sending Laureana back!
Author's reply
Yes Laureanna meant well but she could have really messed things up. I try to be realistic and most people (and in my mind any young elleth in over her head in a situation) would try to do what their heart told them which would be to save as many people as possible. Unfortunately Legolas has to remind her that she has to do things 'for the greater good' rather than individuals.

· Chapter 9: Secret Whispers in the Night
(From the flashback section of this chapter)
Ah, this is so sad and so well written! I feel the anguish of Elladan, the desire to do SOMETHING, even while knowing it is hopeless. And for Elrond to feel the moment of Estel's death, to feel that his sons are so broken that "there will be nothing left to heal," is almost too much!
I also especially like these two lines:
“But are we not Man as well? Do you not feel that you are abandoning that part of yourself to leave them so…helpless?” Elladan asked.
Elrohir was quiet for a moment before saying, “We were given a choice, long ago. Whether we realized it or not, we made that choice when we returned to Imladris after the war.”
Author's reply
I wanted to explore something that was barely touched on in the movie - the connection between Aragorn and Elrond. As his adopted son, I thought there should be more tenderness between them that in my opinion was only shown slightly in the movie during the scene by Aragorn's mother's grave and when Aragorn and Arwen kissed in Minas Tirith (but that was partially to do with his daughter) This was my chance to give a little tenderness to their bond.

· Chapter 2: Sacrifices
Great debate -- you really let everyone's personalities shine through.
I love the poignancy of these lines:
[“But we will not remember her for long,” Elladan said thoughtfully.
“What?” Elrohir jumped up and faced his brother. “Explain yourself, Elladan.”
“As soon as she changes one thing in the past, we will no longer remember her at all for our pasts will all change. She will not even be a memory to us. It will be if she never existed,” Elladan said sadly watching as Elrohir realized what he said was true. ]
