Awwwwwwwwww. Hug a tree today.
Larner · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 12: A New Understanding
Of course they need to trust the folk of the Shire, particularly as these three and one more one day will do so very much for all of Middle Earth! Love the chase between Pippin and Scamp, and the realization that even the tree they rest under deserves respect and thanks.
westwindschild · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 12: A New Understanding
Oh, my goodness! When I came to the end and didn't see a "Next" I couldn't believe that I had read 12 chapters already! What a great story! It is so refreshing to read something with such an airy feel to it, even through the angsty parts. Nature lover that I am, I really admire your take on the Old Forest. It's about time that trees get the chance to have their say. I like your dialogue (that's my greatest weakness as a writer), and that you have such textured characters. Keep writing!
girlofring · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 12: A New Understanding
Trees are very ancient creatures, whether "we" want to believe that they can "hear" or "feel" as such. Just imagine all the insects that depend on them and the creatures that eat the fruit or nuts that they bear. They are evidently a part of God's creation on this Earth and who knows what they would say if they could talk. Just imagine the tales they could weave, probably all of history especially the Redwoods in Northern California.

*knocked out by the toddler!Pippin energy and cuteness* Or maybe I just need a nap. Look! Here are hobbits and rangers sacked out in the yard, with others cooking and playing in the stream. I loved this part: “Frodo,” Halbarad remarked, “Pippin has a most unusual accent.” “It’s because he’s a Took,” Frodo explained. “You won’t even notice it after awhile.” The Ranger looked unconvinced. *yawns*

LOL! I love littlePippin's speech! I'm a speech therapist working with preschoolers, and Pippin's speech just cracks me up. I especially loved him saying "fwogs", Frodo repeating it as "fwogs" also, and then Pippin correcting him with "fwogs" again! That's exactly what little kids do. They make errors that they're unaware of, but are quick to correct someone else's mimicking of their own error. Anyway, great job.
SlightlyTookish · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 12: A New Understanding
*sigh* I love this story! I love seeing, as Aragorn realized, how both the Rangers and the hobbits are learning so much from this experience. And wee Pippin! *melts* Where can I find one like him?
The Hobbit Waffle · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 12: A New Understanding
Here comes the fluff! I loved it. Can I nap with Frodo? Then run after Pippin?
Mariole · 16 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
"I don’t like it when you’re sick, Frodo. You’re not supposed to ever be sick.” - dear Merry! I really enjoyed this chapter. I like your insights into the Rangers-- Aragorn's difference from his companions, their habit of cleaning up, their interactions with the hobbits and each other. It's intriguing, and fun!
Auntiemeesh · 15 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Somehow I've fallen behind, once again. I missed the last chapter, with Frodo suffering the after effects of the poison. I'm glad to see that his suffering didn't last too long and that he's on the mend. And now that Pippin is here, the gang is nearly all complete. I love seeing your young Frodo with his little cousins. :D
EllyBaggins · 14 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
hi, sorry i haven't reviewed in a while, i certainly haven't abandoned your wonderful story! i was on holiday in australia for three weeks, with very litle time to get online. i've really enjoyed all the updates i missed, though. and pippin making an appearance is just fantastic!
Agape4Rivendell · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Hello Shirebound, Very glad I found this page. What a delightful tale. I've enjoyed every chapter - very creative. There was a spot in chapter 8 or 9 that I particularly loved - but, of course, I can't get back to quote it. Thank you for sharing! Agape
Tigger · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Gasp...PIPPIN!!! Wee Pippin!! I do believe this story just crossed from fluff into unabashed adorableness!!! I can't wait to see Thalugron and Halbarad's reactions to wee Pippin and his Tookish accent. Hee!! Loved Aragorn's meeting w/Saradoc. That was just so well done. Loved how Aragorn rightly guessed Saradoc was giving him the once over, then when Aragorn tried to buy the herbs he needed..."Your coin is no good here." Loved, loved that moment. And the education of Rangers to trust the Shire continues. I can understand Halbarad and Thalugron's caution. Especially when it concerns Aragorn. They've spent their lives being hunted and mistrusted after all. Learning to trust and in turn be trusted is a hard thing to learn, but it's a worthwhile lesson in the end. Also really liked the way you had Aragorn handle Halbarad's actions. The fact he ended up breaking his ankle and the pain that comes w/an injury like that, more than a worthy lesson on what can happen when you decided to go AWOL. What a wonderful lovely chapter. Now hurry up and show us what can happen when a wee little Took get added into the mix. :oD
Larner · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Ah, dear--Pippin is definitely nice and appropriate, if we can't get Gandalf, of course. Wonderful chapter. That's okay about skipping paper training--we at least haven't had too many try to tell us about potty training hobbits! (Thank heavens!)
Anso the Hobbit · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
This is great! And now Pippin has come to join in on the fun too! :D I`m so glad Frodo is better. I always pictured Merry as good at drawing and I`m sure the Ranger will be happy to recieve a pair of crutches with drawvings from the hobbit lad as a happier memory of these days than the one he has from his injury and illness. :) And then there of course is the joy of just meeting the hobbits...
The Hobbit Waffle · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Hooray! Lolly! *whispers* Hooray! Two Lollies! I can't believe I got it right! Merry! My goodness, I'd threaten to sit on him after I was well again if he announced that about me to everyone! Of course, I wouldn't sit on him too hard. Who could sit too hard on Merry? Little Pippin! How I do love Little Pippin. Or little Hobbits of any kind, be it Frodo, Merry, Pippin or Sam. They must be so very lovely to cuddle. I wish I had a baby Hobbit, though Babies in general are rather lovely to hold. When they aren't fussing. But fussing baby Hobbits would be fun to cheer up. Oh dear, that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. You're very good at that.
Andrea · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Certainly I approve! In Estel's arms little Pippin is in the best care :) “Well,” Merry said with relief, “you’re better now. I don’t like it when you’re sick, Frodo. You’re not supposed to ever be sick.” Did I ever tell you how much I like little Merry in this story? Always trying to protect his beloved older cousin, just lovely! And now they have Pippin to distract them, that will be fun, I'm sure. And of course, thank you for the lollipop!
SlightlyTookish · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
I loved Aragorn and Saradoc's meeting, and how responsible Merry was with the gate key. And best of all, little Pippin! I'm so glad you've included him in this story, Shirebound :D :D :D
Amy · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
Tiny!Pippin riding with Aragorn! Aiee! Rangers will have no defenses against the combined forces of Scamp and toddler!Pippin!
Elwen · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
I missed your previous chapter so I got two doses of lovely h/c in one sitting. Poor Frodo doing all that vomitting! And all that lovely cuddling from Bilbo. And I can feel that warm sunshine in the garden.
Lily · 13 August 2005 · Chapter 11: In Your Company
I adore your Merry and how he insists on Frodo being green :) Great to see Saradoc and Pippin! Will the Master fetch the yong Took himself the next morning?
Periantari · 9 August 2005 · Chapter 10: Between Worlds
“Safe,” Frodo sighed as he was held gently in Bilbo’s arms. i love Frodo being safe in Bilbo's arms <3 =) and i love h/c... your gently h/c is the best... i'm glad fro it and i'm really grateful for your vivid description of the dreams Frodo experienced and then interweaving them with what's happening with Bilbo and ARagorn in reality. can't wait for the next chapter... but a guess to who would be the visitors: probably some Rangers? and i love your Scamp~ hehe so dedicated to Frodo. awww =)
Periantari · 9 August 2005 · Chapter 8: The Pledge
wow what a great chapter~ this is a very interesting story and i'm sorry i didn't get to it earlier, but this chapter was one of my favorites! I really liked your idea of having Frodo deliver this very important message to Aragorn and for giving such wonderful foreshadowing to the Great War of the RIng times. Very nice use of canon details too. Great job, SB!
Baggins Babe · 3 August 2005 · Chapter 10: Between Worlds
Oh I hope the visitor is Gandalf! *crosses fingers* Sweet chapter, although I hope poor Frodo is over the worst. Don't know quite who is more adorable - Frodo or Scamp.............
