The Hobbits left a legacy of commitment and honor that all should be willing to follow.
Author's reply
They did leave a great legacy and it'll be interesting to see how Fourth Agers remember the Gondorian New Year- ha that's a good fic idea. :)

Denethor made this choice far too easy for his son. I grieve for Faramir's submission to this mission.
Author's reply
Yes, i do too. It was captured pretty well by PJ's version but Tolkien also wrote it very well. Thank you.

This is a lovely gap filler. I especially like, "He called my name in love and respect." If Denethor had been loving and respectful of Faramir throughout his life, much might have been different.

· Chapter 91: To Love and to Heal You
It's lovely to imagine these two healing one another's hearts and hurts, and then working together as healers for their people.
Author's reply
Yes, i think it was critical that Tolkien tied them together to heal and be there for each other and for their people. It is a lot of unwritten stories of how they do so and hope that there will be fanfic to fill the gaps. :)

I like this. Faramir would have had every reason to want to observe Aragorn's "quality" (as Sam might say).
Author's reply
Thank you so much! I think so too-- it is reason for hope.

A true love, this one. Good for both of them!
Author's reply
I was a doubtful fan before i reread the books this year of their love because i thought that it happened too quickly but after reading Tolkien's letter 244, i think it is possible and the Steward and the King chapter is very sweet without being saccharine.
In such times as these having an achievable purpose helps a good deal.
Author's reply
Yes, i think that it helped occupy Faramir to be productive. Grief tends to get you in two different directions, either falling harder or finding hope amidst the darkness. (at least that's my personal experience)

Faramir had to have been deeply wounded emotionally, and you nicely show how he slowly regains his hope and resolve.
Author's reply
I think there is more story to tell here since his family was taken away from him prematurely and also many friends...he does slowly regain his hope and resolve but I do want more fic to cover how that happens. :) Thank you for reading!

· Chapter 85: Grief
How lovely to see that you are still with us. Still posting on SOA, and still "within the Circles" as some say here. I have probably never reviewed any of your
stories, but I have read many of them over the years. The last thing of yours I remember reading was the series of drabbles you wrote about the Hobbit movies, so it has been awhile. I have spurts of trying to spend less time in Middle Earth and more in Modern. But I keep coming back, especially to SOA. As for this story. I always thought that Faramir and Boromir must have had that kind of a connection. Each of them insisted they be the one to go on the Quest, in order to "protect" the other. I have no doubt that Faramir was "with" Boromir spiritually, when Boromir died. And you have shown us how F thought and felt as he saw his brother's funeral boat come to him, then slowly drift on. A clear, intimate picture.
Author's reply
Wow thanks so much for the kind review ! I have lost my muse for a while but think it’s back since I’m rereading the books. I also am busy with modern life or real life but really miss middle earth. It’s been a long time since college with different priorities !
Thanks for liking my drabbles ! I keep coming back as well and am glad that there are still fans that enjoy fanfic and discussing the books .we are never truly gone when we love middle earth so much !
I love exploring Faramir post quest since he really lost a lot and how he recovers would be part of another fic that I wrote and never posted here. Stay tuned ! Thank you for leaving a review !

"Dreamlike it was, and yet no dream, for there was no waking." You have taken Faramir's description to Frodo and condensed it down to the essence of the scene, which you have aptly named as grief. Beautifully rendered.

Thank you so much ! It is heartbreaking to lose a brother like that and I just hope I captured it adequately .

A good introspection by Eowyn here. To be self-determinant is important.

Thank heavens that he was wrong. Perhaps Faramir in the end would have done best on the quest for Imladris, but he was needed where he remained in the end, and I rejoice that he did not die at his father's side.

Brave Pippin! I love him asking himself what Merry would do. It seems eminently in character.
Author's reply
Thank you so much! Pippin did indeed become braver and braver as the Quest moved on and especially during the dark time in Minas Tirith, he really showed what he was made of!
Ah, how I love Merry! He has been my favourite hobbit since I first read Tolkien's marvellous scene where Merry helps Eowyn slay the Nazgul Captain.

I love Merry too and i find him easier to write! I love that scene as well. :)
Thank you!

Ah, yes. Gandalf foretold to Faramir that his father would yet remember his love. Well done.

Lots of fics just demonize Denethor but i think it's important to consider he was under sway from the palantir and Sauron but also deep down loves Faramir too.

· Chapter 77: An Uneasy Consensus (Frodo&Gollum)
Poor Smeagol! (I seem to be pitying characters a lot lately.)
But Frodo sees the truth. The only way to save himself is to sacrifice himself... if Gollum had not taken the Ring at the end, only Frodo's falling into the fiery depths of Mount Doom would have saved Middle Earth.
Now you've put me in mind of an AU...
Author's reply
Glad i inspired you for an AU! Thank you!
Frodo from early on probably had idea he could not relinquish the Ring easily. Perhaps i have explored some foresight into his thinking that Gollum would be the only way to help Frodo rid the Ring since probably Frodo understood him to a certain level therefore leaving Gollum to guide him all that time.
