hehehe, Bilbo shows no proper respect for a wizard! Great little scene! And I can see why Pippin would have had so little fear of Gandalf, if he'd had him for breakfast as a child! LOL
Author's reply
LOL yes! Why be afraid of a breakfast food? :)
Glad you enjoyed this. Thank you!

Oh wow... that one took me by surprise, and brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. What a great little scene, exquisitly described. May we all serve as well, when the hour for which we are destined comes to us.
Author's reply
Thank you AspenJules! I'm so happy you enjoyed this piece. I wanted to honor Pippin in some way when I wrote this for March 25 and I'm thrilled by your comments to it :)

This is so CUTE!!!! I can just picture Bilbo trying to explain to Gandalf just how he began to make wizard-shaped pancakes for hungry little hobbits, while wee Pippin devours his. LOL!
Author's reply
And I can just see Pippin gleefully going for the head first! Heehee! :)
Thanks for reading. I'm glad you thought it was cute! :D

Obviously the apology was accepted, and perhaps unnecessary. Of COURSE Bilbo would laugh! Dear old Hobbit!

I believe Merry would want to do the right thing, and Bilbo would of course put him right at ease. Thanks for reading! :)

· Chapter 52: An Afternoon Snack
It's no wonder that Pippin spent a fair amount of time being supervised by his cousins - and his sisters - and anyone else available. His poor mother must have been completely exhausted. Indomitable barely begins to describe him!
Author's reply
Indomitable is a good word to describe Pippin! It certainly takes a lot of energy and effort to keep up with him :)
Thanks for reading, Bodkin!

· Chapter 52: An Afternoon Snack
Oh my, did he really eat dust?
On the other hand I can understand that something that looked so fluffy found its way into little Pippin's mouth! Tookish curiosity at it's best ;-)
I loved the moment when Merry was teasing Frodo by using Frodo's own words:
"He's teething," Merry supplied helpfully. "Babies do that."
A sweet and funny little story, that I enjoyed very much!
Author's reply
He did eat it! Just as my little cousin used to do... :) And as you say, it all has to do with that Tookish curiousity. I'm so glad you liked wee Merry here. He's so practical as an adult, that I figured he would be the same as a child, much to Frodo's chagrin. Thanks for reading, Andrea! :)

Eeeewwwww! The child has no tastebuds yet, obviously ;)
So cute. I like how Merry was suprised at the small places Pip could fit :)

Heehee! Well, I mentioned it in my lj but forgot to add it here, but one of my little cousins used to eat dust, and that is how I got the idea for this :)

Oh this is wonderful. I am glad that Merry got to apologise! But... :( you finished a couple of sentences too soon. I want to know just which bit he got to read too......
Author's reply
Heeheehee, sorry about that harrowcat! I've had this story in mind for months now, and never could get it right (it was meant to be longer than a drabble plus). To be honest I like the mystery of not knowing what Merry read...but I would love to see other people's take on it too :)
Thanks for reading!

Aww, how sweet of Merry to apologize to Bilbo for sneaking a peek at the Red Book. I can just picture him getting all worried & Bilbo just laughing it off.
I'm in the throes of writing a multi-chaptered story that contains Merry's first glance at the Red Book--thank you for providing me with the kick I needed to continue writing with this little scene.

Author's reply
Yes, I definitely pictured Bilbo thinking it was hilarious that Merry was apologizing for something he did years and years ago. Your story sounds very interesting - I'd love to know what Merry read in the book (the rascal wouldn't tell me). I'm looking forward to your story. Thanks for stopping by and reading mine. I'm so glad you enjoyed it :)

I think Bilbo would have had a good sense of humor about it, especially after he realized that it was Merry's snooping that helping him for the Conspiracy to help Frodo. All would be forgiven :)

Oh! A hammock-ful of hobbits is so sweet - almost a endearing as a hobbitpile or heap of hobbits! And the ploy of getting wee-pippin to take a nap is lovely. Was the link to the scene where Sam is having trouble sleeping in FOTR deliberate? - Great stuff.
Author's reply
Thank you, harrowcar! I'm very happy that you enjoyed this bit of fluff. There is absolutely no link to the Sam scene in FOTR. I hadn't even thought of that! :)
