Well, Legolas is in a bit of a bind. I do hope he will find his way out of it.
Author's reply
Knowing me, you can say it is more than a bit. :o) He's certainly going to give it a try.

Author's reply
Thank you. The others will definitely be be on the move. More soon.
Jay of Lasgalen · 15 September 2004 · Chapter 6
Oh dear. This does NOT sound good. What are these things? Somehow, I can't imagine E, E & A waiting around helplessly for much longer, either - so what will happen to them? Jay
Author's reply
No, I'm afraid that it isn't at all good. The creatures' identity will be revealed as the story goes along. And E, E, and A won't be stationary for long.
Galimeril · 7 September 2004 · Chapter 5
Oh you nasty evil person! You put an evil cliffy in! AHHHHHH! *rips out hair You gotta finish! You gotta update soon! Please!!!!! Galimeril ;D
Author's reply
I'm both nasty and evil? Wow. I hope you don't mean that in a bad way. :o) I love to bring out such strong emotions in my readers. I will finish, never fear. I will also update soon. In the meantime, I have a little one-shot I plan on posting Thursday. It's called, "Child of Nature". I would love for you to read it.
*~SuGaR~* · 4 September 2004 · Chapter 5
ack! cliffie! O.O *falls off cliff and barely hangs on just like Legolas* Uh oh...can't wait to see what they are!...but then Legolas will be in big trouble =( Well, I'm sure whatever they are will be in trouble as well =D hopefully...can't wait! POST SOON!
Author's reply
You know me, so you knew there would be cliffies showing up soon. I hope you will not be disappointed, when you find out what they are. And yes, Legolas will be in big trouble. As for the creatures being in trouble, we'll have to wait and see. More soon.
sofia · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 5
great chapter. Is that creature behind legolas a monkey? But monkeys dont live on cursed mountains, where it snows... but hey, i can still think its a monkey right? More soon please! -sofia
Author's reply
Thank you. Yes, of course, you can think it's a monkey or anything else you wish. I'll give you a hint and say it's the anything else. No monkeys. Sorry. :o)
daw the minstrel · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 5
Well look at that, would you! It's a literal cliffhanger! (sorry, I couldn't resist) I can't imagine what the howlers could be. Or why they're interestedin Legolas.
Author's reply
I couldn't have resisted, either, though to be honest, it wasn't planned. It just worked out that way. I could say that anyone in their right mind would be interested in that gorgeous hottie of an elf, but that would be a little ridiculous (or maybe not). The answer will turn out to be very simple. I just can't reveal it right now.
Karri · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 5
A lovely chapter full of suspense and intrigue...which of course could end no other way than with a cliffie. :-P ;-)
Author's reply
Thank you. And this cliffie will certainly not be the only one. :o)
Bodkin · 3 September 2004 · Chapter 5
It's a squirrel. Having a tea party. Or - maybe not. At least they are all hearing the howlers now. There's a lot of potential for disaster here. What with howlers and chitterers and shadows and dark figures and ice and snow storms - there's a lot that could happen. And probably will! Looking forward to more.
Author's reply
Shucks. You guessed the squirrel tea party. I was hoping to keep that a secret until the next chapter. Yes, there is definitely much potential for disaster. And I can be very evil. Legolas sliding off the cliff is only the beginning. :o)
Galimeril · 25 August 2004 · Chapter 4
I'm lovin' it! Your writing style is VERY interesting and those tingles are still running up my back, Update soon!!!! Galimeril ;D P.S. When you said that the used tender with their wood to start the fire I think you meant Tinder. Other than that, Flawless
Author's reply
I'm so glad you are. Thank you so much. I hope I can keep those tingles in place. I plan on updating early next week. You are correct. Sometimes I get brain cramp. I did mean tinder, and I will change that right now. Thanks for pointing out the error.
Karri · 19 August 2004 · Chapter 4
Very good. I always find the getting to and fro hard to write, but you have managed to make it quite entertaining. Well done!
Author's reply
Thanks, Karri. I don't like to pad, and I don't like to have my characters travel and then just suddenly end up where they are going. I think journeys should be interesting. Glad you liked it.
daw the minstrel · 19 August 2004 · Chapter 4
Actually, it is pretty interesting that the howling is only on Legolas's watch. I suppose that could be a coincidence. Indeed, I can't think of what else it could be. That overhang sounded chancy to me too. I'm not sure I'd want to be in it.
Author's reply
I think Legolas wonders why the howling is only on his watch. It may or may not be significant. Of course, I can't say yet. Aragorn had a valid point, when he asked where the others thought those boulders on the lower part of the mountain came from. I thought it was funny that despite his concern, he wasn't willing to give up a good night's sleep over it.
Bodkin · 19 August 2004 · Chapter 4
After a moment, Elrohir looked up from his plate. “Put that nasty pipe away, Estel, and we will sit with you.” The three elves were all seated together on one side of the fire while the man sat alone on the other side. “I know the real reason,” the ranger said in a very pitiful voice. “You all blame keeping your distance on my pipe smoking, but the truth is that you do not like me.” The elves looked at each other and laughed. “He has found us out!” cried Elrohir. I just love this bit. It just seems to sum them up. Loving friends, close as kin - but the differences still there. It must have been really hard for Aragorn to be brought up elvish without any of their natural advantages.
Author's reply
I'm glad you liked the funny bits. I always try to insert a little humor from time to time. I think the humor often tells as much about a character as the serious things do. Yes, they do love each other very much. Aragorn surely got quite frustrated about being a human among elves more times than he cared to count. Hey, that might not be a bad line to put in the story somewhere. :o)
Galimeril · 13 August 2004 · Chapter 3
This story is sending chills up my spine!!! please update soon! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!!!
Author's reply
Spiny chills are a good thing. :o) I will update this coming week.
*~SuGaR~* · 9 August 2004 · Chapter 3
O.O ...can't wait to find out! Although it probably means trouble for Estel, Legolas and the twins...>.< Oooo...any revenge fit into the schedule somewhere for our oh so lovable twins of Elrond? Lol, may not exactly be time to be thinking about that yet, but maybe after everything is back to normal :P Can't wait for the next chapter! POST SOON! *~SuGaR~*
Author's reply
Trouble? Now would I let my characters get into any trouble? :o) I hadn't really thought about that leftover revenge in this story. I'll have to think about it. Maybe Legolas and Estel could push the twins (if they survive this story) into facing Thranduil after the king finds out where his son went without permission. OUch. I don't think even those mischief-makers deserve *that*. More next week.
OakWolf · 6 August 2004 · Chapter 3
Niiiiiiiice, loved Legolas bounding off to the tree tops-Now please White Wolf,Ever closer to the Mountain!
Author's reply
Thank you. Legolas and the trees was enjoyable to write. He's a wood elf to the core. Closer indeed. Next chapter.
Karri · 6 August 2004 · Chapter 3
A terrific chapter. The twins desire to go along and keep an eye on the mischief makers is endearing, but I have to say my favorite part was Legolas and the little stretch of forest greeting each other.
Author's reply
Thank you. Having the twins keep an eye on Legolas and Estel is like having a mouse keep an eye on the cheese. It isn't going to work the way they plan. I loved Legolas leaping into that tree and then singing the night away. He definitely has a wood elf's heart.
sofia · 6 August 2004 · Chapter 3
oh, now its getting very intresting. I'm glad the twins joined the little adventure, i like them. -sofia
Author's reply
Thank you. I love the twins. They add so much to a story. I wish PJ had had room to put them in the movies.
daw the minstrel · 6 August 2004 · Chapter 3
I understand Legolas's frustration at this father's overprotectiveness. I think he has to do this, for the sake of his own adult independence. I liked the detail that they split everything into all the packs. The howling things are kind of scary.
Author's reply
I felt Legolas's frustration, while I was writing it. As he was thinking, he loves his father, but he has to do this for himself. I try not to get bogged down in too much detail, but I think it often adds interesting bits to the story. I think everyone will be surprised at what the howling things turn out to be.
OakWolf · 27 July 2004 · Chapter 2
Jolly good,Jolly good!Love the badgering between Legolas and Aragorn, its the little things that make a story awesome.Very clever with the twins and Thranduil, sneaky little devils those Rivendellers.Top notch, more please!
Author's reply
Thank you. it's the little details I try to throw in to make things more interesting without getting the reader bogged down. I have fun with the verbal goings on between Legolas and Aragorn. Those two are so great together. And you gotta love those twins. :o) More will be coming.
sofia · 26 July 2004 · Chapter 2
that sounds like a yummy breakfast. and actually butter and honey on bread go great together. I love the twins. -sofia
Author's reply
I thought butter and honey on bread sounded like something both Legolas and Aragorn would love. The twins are great. I love them, too. I wish they had been in the movies.
Karri · 26 July 2004 · Chapter 2
But can Legolas really blame his ada? It is, afterall, an ada's job to keep his child from intentionally wandering into harm's way. ;-) Terrific chapter! I especially enjoyed the breakfast banter...though Legolas should have left him to make in own breakfast. Aragorn's going to get spoiled. ;-)
Author's reply
I think Legolas understands how Thranduil feels. It's just that, to his way of thinking, it is time his father 'got over it', so to speak. He doesn't want his father to lose faith in his ability to take care of himself outside of Mirkwood. Glad you liked the breakfast banter. As you know, I try to add a bit of humor now and again, both for a change of pace and because I think those two are often funny together. I think they spoil each other. BTW, I hope you liked the ending to "The Wrong Path".
daw the minstrel · 26 July 2004 · Chapter 2
Oh my. Not only a trip to Black Mountain, but one made without Thranduil's knowledge. That can only come to a bad end! I understand Legolas's frustration though. He's an adult and a capable warrior. This must be making him crazy. After a while, he would have to break out or begin to doubt himself.
Author's reply
You are right on all counts, daw. Thranduil knows how frustrated Legolas is, but after what happened with Mordraug, he is just too terrified of losing Legolas for good, not realizing, yet, that trying to force him to stay in Mirkwood might do the same thing. If Legolas didn't get free, he would begin to think that it was more than Thranduil wanting to keep him safe; it was lack of faith in his abilities outside of the realm.
Bodkin · 26 July 2004 · Chapter 2
I can sort of see why Legolas is feeling reckless enough to take on this trip, but it does seem a bit of an extreme way to show your father that you can look after yourself. The patrol over the next rise must just have been the last straw. The twins have been a bit dumped on by this - they get him permission to spend six weeks visiting Elrond, only to have it turn into Visit to Death Mountain. Not quite what they had in mind - or, come to that, to get Legolas out of Mirkwood EVER again.
Author's reply
Even thought Legolas had already agreed to go to Black Mountain before the twins showed up, hearing about the nearby patrol just reinforced Legolas's determination to go. It just happened to be a most dangerous trip that showed up at that time, thanks to Aragorn. The twins were taken by surprise, but rest assured they will throw themselves into the adventure wholeheartedly. I wonder myself if Thranduil will ever let Legolas leave Mirkwood again, at least until the year 3018. :o)
*~SuGaR~* · 23 July 2004 · Chapter 1
Ooooooooo...strange, mysterious mountain...now you've gotten my curiousity ;) Legolas and Estel better watch out with you in control of their lives again! But if Legolas can endure Thranduil in a frenzy, he'll come out in one piece (hopefully...) Can't wait to find out what this mountain is all about! *~SuGaR~*
Author's reply
I'm happy your curiosity is peeked. I should resent you saying that Legolas and Estel had better watch out with me in control again. But, you are right. You just know they will be getting into all kinds of trouble. And don't forget, the twins will be right there with them. More coming soon.
