Hello~~ I'm so glad to have found your stories again! My obsession with LOTR wained for a while, and so I lost all the links to the sites and stories that I had found enjoyable. Recently I started reading LOTR fanfiction again, and you know what came to my mind yesterday? One simple line, "I knew you would feed me." I have no idea why, but that sentence stuck with me for two years. So, I knew I wanted to read it again, but I had no memory of who wrote it or what was the name of the story, not even where I read it. So, I googled that line. :D And here I am. And I'm so happy for it. I'm sorry, I know this isn't constructive or anything, it isn't actually even a review about the story. I just wanted you to know how much I love your writings. :) Take care, Nipsyo

Author's reply

You never have to apologize to me. I'm happy you’re back. It's nice that one single line I wrote had such an impact on your memory. I’m always happy to hear people say they love my writing. I've written a lot of new stories, so I hope you enjoy the ones you choose to read as much as the older ones. Thanks for looking me up! :o)

Bodkin · 26 February 2005 · Chapter 23

He recovered! Once his white blood cells knew what to do, they did it! And quickly, too. That moment when he asked for something to eat must have been euphoric for the three who were sitting waiting for him to die. But I somehow suspect that these four will not now resolve to avoid similar troubles in the future. It would be too out of character! I look forward to their next adventure.

Author's reply

Once Legolas's body produced what it needed to neutralize the poison, his elven healing ability kicked in, and he recovered very fast. That was a miracle for E3 to get their friend back. I have the feeling that on the way to Rivendell, they were planning their next adventure. Danger is in their blood (no pun intended). I hope to start posting Cold Wind soon.

Galimeril · 25 February 2005 · Chapter 23

Well done White Wolf! An excellent close to an excellent story! You had the surprises coming every chapter, even if you did use Evil cliffies! I can't wait for Cold Wind. I hope it's as good, if not better than this one! Excitedly awaiting your next arrival! You go dog! (No pun intended) Galimeril ;D

Author's reply

Thank you so much. I appreciate your very kind words. A lot of people make remarks about my cliffies. I think I'm getting paranoid, however, not enough to keep me from leaving them. :o) I hope you will like Cold Wind, which will be coming soon.

You need to come out of your shell and learn not to hold back on how you really feel. :o) I'm glad you like the ending.

daw the minstrel · 24 February 2005 · Chapter 23

I'm glad to see Legolas recovered. Elrond certainly trains good healers!

Author's reply

It was touch and go for a while, but yes, our dear elf did recover. Elrond is good at imparing his considerable knowledge of healing.

Lindelea · 24 February 2005 · Chapter 23

Yes, much better, thanks. The friend is apparently better, getting along with life twenty years or so after the attempt. But I never completely stop worrying. Life is difficult, and it is so easy to fall into despair, especially if one's loved ones seem to take one for granted, as this person's family does. There was an air of quiet and mostly-concealed desperation, the last time we visited, and yet what do I say to the family? All I can do is to be as warm and loving as I can, and not let busyness pull me away, too.

sofia · 24 February 2005 · Chapter 23

clever. Very, very clever. My thoughts were proven right! he did not die. Although with the whole blood thing- no way could I ever had come up with something like that. Loved the story. Can't wait for Cold Wind. -sofia

Author's reply

Thank you very, very much. I'm glad you were right. I'm also glad I had you stumped. I try not to be too predictable. Cold Wind will be posted in the near future.

Lindelea · 24 February 2005 · Chapter 23

Fascinating premise! You can delete this review if you like, for I'm using it to criticise something that really bothers me. I promise to leave a proper review later. Please don't have the elf cut across the ranger's wrist, no matter how quickly or shallowly. There are arteries there, and tendons, and nerves... And then to talk about cutting the other wrist... (wince) It sounds all too much like someone I knew who attempted suicide by that manner. Have him carefully select a vein, and prick the skin, and watch the blood drip into the cup, and then apply pressure until he's satisfied the bleeding has stopped. Please?

Author's reply

First off, I want to say that I hope that the reason behind your friend's desperate attempt at suicide has been resolved, and he/she is now doing well. I would never delete anyone's honest opinion. The fact is that you are totally right. I realized, after reading your comments, that I should have been more careful about the way I wrote what I did. I think I was a bit taken with myself for the solution I came up with and didn't think the whole thing through regarding how it might make people think of someone cutting a wrist to end their life. The thought that it upset you makes me sad. My story may have involved angst, but it is fantasy and was meant purely for entertainment. I was trying to make the wrist-cutting a good thing, because of what it would do to save Legolas. I went back and rewrote the part in question, using your suggestion. Please reread that section. If I messed up the rewrite, please let me know, and I'll work on it some more. Thank you for your opening comment.

Sitaray · 22 February 2005 · Chapter 22

Oh my...what is gonna happen...I'm guessing it has to do with their blood...pure elven, and pure human, since the twins are fine. But then again...Leggy did drink all that howler blood...maybe it's affecting him...well I'm gonna stop torturing myself by trying to figure this out. Hurry please and post the next chapter :) Nita

Author's reply

You are right. It all has to do with the howler blood. I appreciate your efforts to figure it out. But you know I couldn't tell you here, even if you found the solution, supposing there is one, of course. I never said Lgoolas will survive. :o) Next chapter right now.

Shaan Lien · 19 February 2005 · Chapter 22

Very interesting. Couldn't they give him a transfusion of their own blood, couldn't that combat the howlers' blood. I know it wouldn't be much, but it could work to a certain degree, though I doubt they knew about transfusions back then. If they just give him a little though, Legolas' blood would dilute it so the problem of different antigens and all that won't come into play. Just a thought. And I enjoyed this chapter as I anticipated.

Author's reply

Good guess. The next chapter, which I've written but haven’t polished up yet, wil reveal everything, and you will know if you are correct or not. The knowledgeable healers like Elrond may have possibly understood the principle behind transfusions, but not having needles and such, it would have been hard to put into practice. Thank you.

sofia · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 22

I'm refusing to believe that legolas is going to die. I think he's not getting better like the rest of the group because of the untreated bite on his wrist. I also think Aragorn is getting infected too. Or coming down with a really bad cold. -sofia

Author's reply

I hope your stubornness doesn't put you in for a big letdown. Of course, you may also be right. I can't reveal that just yet. I can tell you that the previously undiscovered wrist wound is not a clue. A bad cold is also a good guess but also not the case here. Next chapter explains all.

daw the minstrel · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 22

I wonder what's making Aragorn sicker. Their reasoning about pure elf blood seems sound but if Aragorn is getting worse then it may not be the entire story.

Author's reply

I spent a while sorting thorugh the whole blood thing; pure elvien blood, pure human blood, half and half (so to speak). Then I had to combine that with who had bites, and who had bites and howler blood. I confused myself sometimes. The next chapter will sort everything out. I promise.

Bodkin · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 22

Oh dear, oh dear. Legolas may be exceedingly ill, but it's probably only a matter of time before Aragorn collapses now. And where's Elrond when you need him? (Yes, I know the answer is Imladris!) If E2 are doing well, perhaps you NEED a mixture of elven and human blood - plus a touch of Maiar (in the ratio 78:19:3 perhaps) - to help you survive this. Blood transfusions? I love Aragorn's thought that a second head would be of some assistance. He's not right though, because they would both be aching. I'm sure there is something they have not thought of - and I hope the evil author nudges them in the right direction while the elf is still around to benefit!

Author's reply

Aragorn's sudden illness is puzzling, but then he's human. Elrond will not come to the rescue this time, I'm afraid. The boys are on their own. Good idea on the blood combination and transfusion. Cant' say yet, of course. I like the two-headed thought, too. And yes, I'm sure another one would hurt as bad as his original one seems to be doing. I can't say anything about your last comment, either. Bummer, isn't it?

Faith · 18 February 2005 · Chapter 22

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! sniff cant let....poor leggy die....*sniff....*sob....poor estel....*sniff....poor leggy....*sniff....*sob...poor els...:( soo sad.....please please dont let poor leggy die? pretty please with a cherry on top?(wink wink) pretty please with lots of cherries on top? pretty please with umm...her huge legolas poster hanging in her room above her bed and that orlando bloom calender shes been pinnig after for months with ben jerrys chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream with chocolate sprinkles and choclate sauce and..and...all the cherries in the whole wide world on top?:D Faith, the slightly obssessed fangirl

Author's reply

You know you are being totally unfair. I'm a chocoholic of the first order. Tempting as your bribe may be, I have to decline the offer. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean I'll killed Legolas off. Maybe I will, and maybe I won't. I'm just not telling---yet. You'll have to wait untilt I post again.

Shaan Lien · 11 February 2005 · Chapter 21

No no no, I wasn't disappointed at all. I was just steady reading and then there was nothing left to read, it was very tragic. I read it all in one sitting and that's something for my poor attention span. Your writing always impresses me, I think I've read a lot of what you wrote. Far from disappointed, just urging you to continue, I need some inspiration for my waning stories. The concept that the howlers just disentegrated because there was none left of them was kind of interesting. Didn't Legolas have some blood on his vambrace--arm brace, whatever it's called? Anywho, I await your next chapter.

Author's reply

I'n glad I misunderstood, because even though logic tells me not everyone will like everything I write, I hate to disappoint anyone. Thank you for the compliments. Tackling multiple chapters at one time is a kind of praise all its own. I like the concept of the howlers disintegrating, and Legolas possibly dying from creatures that no longer exist. I have a twisted mind. :o) Actually there was no howler blood on Legolas's vambrace. He did, however, sustain a tiny bite on his right wrist, which will be dealt with in the next chapter, coming next week. I came across your story, "Nassan", at ff.net not long ago and put it on my list of stories to read. I will bump it up to the top and start on it as soon as I can. It’s hard trying to divide reading and writing time, which I’m sure you know. As for inspiration, if my writing can help you in any way, I'm honored. Good luck. I hope to hear from you again at the end of my next chapter.

Sitaray · 11 February 2005 · Chapter 21

ooo...your leaving me on the edge of my seat...please let legolas be okay... Nita

Author's reply

If I can get a reader to the edge of their seat, I feel I've accomplished one important task. I will consider your request but no guarantees. :o)

Shaan Lien · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

Well, darn, I was getting all into it.

Author's reply

I'm at a loss as to what to say. Were you disappointed in some way?

daw the minstrel · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

He had grown up with these elves, and he could usually read them pretty well, but when they wanted to hide their emotions from him, they could do it. This is a nice observation, telling us much about the relationship between these three. But what an interesting puzzle you've left us with!

Author's reply

I've read stories where the twins couldn't keep anything from Estel. I disagree. They are elves and thus masters at hiding emotions, even from those close to them. In my little Tolkien universe, the twins did it to protect rather than fool their human brother. I had hoped my readers would find the puzzle at least interesting, if not intriguing.

Karri · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

It only affects elves, and the twins have enough human blood to make the difference?

Author's reply

That's a pretty good guess. The next chapter will let you know, if you are right.

sofia · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

Ever question I was thinking about were answered by the twins or Aragorn. I don't have a clue. more soon please. -sofia

Author's reply

I tried to keep things a little confusing, even while E3 sorted through the answers, just to maintain a bit of mystery. :o) I hope to update next week.

Faith · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

Whats the cure preciousssssssss? what have we missed preciousssssssss? tell the preciousssssssssss.....please? pretty please? pretty please with cherrieses on top?(*wink *wink *wink)upadates soon preciousssssssssssss...the precioussssssssss wants to know what happenses to the elveses........mustnt keep the preciousssssssss waiting.......'tell us....tell us...tell us...tell us...tell us....' Faith, the slightly obssessed fangirl

Author's reply

Well, preciousssssss, make that chocolate ice cream, and we have a deal. Not. You know I can't reveal anything now. However, I will be revealing the first part of the puzzle in the next chapter, preciaousssssss, yes I will. ;o)

Bodkin · 10 February 2005 · Chapter 21

I'm racking my brains to come up with a reason why E3 are getting better and Legolas isn't - it's driving me to reread all the bits where he was munched. (I hope the howler blood isn't reacting against the snake poison from the last tale. That would just be toooooooo sneaky.) And that infection started pretty quickly. It must be incredibly useful for warriors to have mega-quick healing powers. You'd think that the time it takes Men to heal would persuade them to give up violent pursuits. But no such luck. I hope something occurs to them soon. They're not going to get Legolas any further in his condition. Save that elf!!

Author's reply

The answer if simple, and E3 are going to be very upset with themselves for not thinking of it. That is, btw, not a slap at you or any other reader, who can't figure it out. I purposely tried to confuse you and still have a viable answer to the puzzle. No, it has nothing to do with what Mordraug and his little snake did to Legolas in TWP. That is a neat idea, but I actually hadn't thought of that, or I might have used it. No violent pursuits? Think of all the angst we would be missing. :o) You are right. They aren’t going anywhere with Legolas. Whatever happens will happen right where they are. I'll put the "Save that elf!!" plea under advisement.

Bodkin · 4 February 2005 · Chapter 20

I love the way the tree is holding Legolas like a throne - very appropriate. They way they are using the opportunity to confess lots of little hidden moments to each other is lovely and, if it weren't for the howler bites, this would be a beautifully peaceful interlude. As it is - I hope you've got some scheme in mind to save our heroes. And that it's not too far off, because Legolas is Not At All Well.

Author's reply

I knew I had to do more than just have Legolas commune with the forest as a whole, so I 'gave' him a single tree to embrace him. The four are trying their best to act as they would in normal circumstances. But since it really isn't normal circumstances, I had to add the confessions. None of it can be easy, because in the back of their minds, they still can't forget what's happening to them. No, Legolas is not at all well. Unfortunately, his beloved trees can only comfort him; they can't cure him.

daw the minstrel · 3 February 2005 · Chapter 20

This evening of ordinariness must have been of great value to these four. The spot does sound beautiful.

Author's reply

They could think of no better way to spend their last hours than being together and remembering. If I was going to die in a forest, I'd like it to happen in a spot like that one.

Faith · 25 January 2005 · Chapter 19

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! they cant all die...! *sniff...*soo sad....*sniff....*sob....poor guys...:( *sniff..soo sad....:( so not fair...:( Faith the slightly obssessed fangirl

Author's reply

You? Obsessed? I don't believe it. :o) It sounds like I stirred up a bit of emotion. It's fun to hold the lives of four such popular characters in the palm of my hands. Such power! I think I may also be obsessed.
