My Drabbles from Tolkien Weekly  by Mirkwoodmaiden 57 Review(s)

Oh! This says so much, in so few words. Very well done.

Author Reply: Lindelea!

Thanks! "Heatwave" was the theme and I just kept thinking of Harad and southern Gondor and this was the result. I love writing drabbles. As you can see I am normally long-winded, Never use a word when three will do! But with a drabble you have to craft what you are saying carefully. I love it! Thanks!

Another light-themed snippet. It is so nice to see both Faramir and Eowyn enjoying their reward.

Author Reply: All part of my literary mission, to write about those two being happy!

Oh, yes! Lovely description. And a glimpse of Sam... how lovingly he must have planted that seed, and how his thoughts must have caressed the memory of the giver, considering his reverence for Elves.

Author Reply: So very true, he was truly the one who brought the Shire back to life with the gift from the Lady. I love writing drabbles, Little gems of writing. At least that is what I aim for!

Oh, this is lovely. I think I will leave off my reading here for the moment. It sets such a restful tone (and a dog is nudging my elbow, so there's that, too).

Author Reply: LOL! Yup! I'm lucky that my cat is currently distracted and not demanding petting! Glad you like the drabble. Keeping to the 100 word limit on this one was definitely a challenge!

How she must have missed the ocean! We live a couple hours' drive from a beach with high cliffs and dangerous pounding waves ("Never turn your back on the ocean"), though I have also swum off a southern beach with sloping sands and deceptively gentle waves (just before lifeguards shouted warnings of a riptide). What sort of beach do you imagine here?

Author Reply: I imagine a cooler coast. Something of a rocky coastline and the ocean stretching forever. Always breezy. that kind of cold breeze that blows through you and invigorates you. You always have a sweater handy and you can walk the beach for days!

I live about a 2 1/2 hour drive from a beach like that. The Central California Coast.

Oh, yes. I have often pondered this journey. You've done a good job capturing its essence.

Author Reply: for the Frost Drabble this crossing was the first thing I thought of. Physical hardship and betrayal. Harsh combination.

thanks for reviewing!

So Cold. No going back.

Well done!

Author Reply: Thanks! That Crossing must have been miserable. Not only physical hardship but the betrayal that led towards it. Harsh. Thanks for reviewing!
