It's a lot for the kids to take in. I loved the conversation about trying to explain Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to Elrond &Co.

Author Reply: Yeah, I'll bet! =) Not to mention trying to explain our world's concepts of elves while they're at it. [g]

What a new and heavy responsibility for Elrond, one of so many.

One of the many surprises the children's family will get when they return is seeing Lucy's Elf-trained manners!

Author Reply: Yeah, you're not kidding! =)

I am glad they are given the chance to explore. Being one who raises dogs, I'm rather surprised that Lucy doesn't have to be taken out first thing before anyone else gets to the toilet. Heh!

Author Reply: LOL! Dreamflower and I didn't think about that. =) Of course, since it would have been rather difficult to take her out on the grass right when she needed to go, arrangments would have to be made to set some kind of mat out for Lucy to do her business on while inside, but I'm assuming that at the kennels, she was taught to go outside.

At least they are getting help as they need it as well as the reassurance that Gandalf is something that they can appreciate.

Author Reply: And thank goodness for that, huh?

The children are so fortunate to take part in such a feast. It sounds so delightful!

Author Reply: Kaylee and Joey aren't so sure of that, starting out! LOL!

They need the support of one another. And trust Gandalf to be watching over the children!

Author Reply: Yeah! And the children are most fortunate to be in this together.

This situation in which outlanders are aware of the stories of Bilbo and Frodo would indeed be worrying to the likes of Gandalf and Elrond. I'm glad neither Jennifer or her brother had seen the full movies, although I myself find the idea appalling! Heh!

Author Reply: It's really just as well that they have not! I know that there are those who have written these kinds of stories in which their O.C.s were practically LOTR experts, but I much prefer mine to have no more than a vague idea of what it's all about. Of course, they will end up becoming experts before it's over! =)

Now, this could be a pickle! Gandalf will especially be interested!

Author Reply: Yeah, really!

I enjoy learning the sanitary arrangements here. I once gave a lecture to a classroom of fifth graders on sanitation through the ages and the evolution of the toilet, which had them all chuckling.

Author Reply: I'll bet it did! =) One thing's for sure: the children are going to have to get used to managing without toilet paper!

A most auspicious beginning, although for good or ill is yet to be learned.

Author Reply: I'm glad you like how it starts. Thanks! Yeah, whether this is for good or bad does remain to be seen, although the McCloud children will be in good hands, thankfully.
