Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 17 Review(s)

Oh, I had forgotten that the ones at the encampment didn't even know what exactly happened. No wonder they were rather worried, particularly after Ingwë's breakdown.

Glorfindel and the others have a point about how their friends may react, but personally I hope Vorondur is more right that the events will make these idiots think twice next time before attacking anything and anyone to do with the Elves. In any case, I hope Olórin is right that they are now better off; we don't need more and more attacks on the Elves.

While I feel sorry for Dave, it's still better he doesn't know where to put them all than trying in vain to find the culprits, right?

Olórin is still smoking occasionally? Now you have me wondering if he can still get Old Toby and Longbottom Leaf, or if he has to take what is available nowadays. Totally irrelevant, I know. But somehow it's comforting to know he still does it after all these millennia. And Glorfindel should know Maiar are above such pesky things as lung problems due to smoking.

Anyway, what Olórin says is comforting. Sure, I know they are very powerful, more than I can imagine, but it's easy to forget that a single Maia can do so much more than any single person of whatever other race. He gave a good perspective of their true powers, and in a way, that's very reassuring. It makes it more clear that he could obviously interfere even in case of more than one simultaneous attack.

Ingwë left me shaking my head. While I understand how he feels, it's still completely wrong to blame all Mortals for what happened. Trust Alex to turn up at this precise moment, overhear what Ingwë said and turn the tables on the High King! He has such a refreshing way of disrespecting all these Elven titles and sensibilities, lol. That's why he is good for the Elves ;) And 'Vala-la-land' made me laugh – these two, Alex and Derek, are priceless!

In any case, Alex learned his Elven history well, and he made some very good points and hopefully got the Elves thinking hard about their relationship with the Secondborn – particularly the ones who never had any real interaction with them or are thinking they are so much better just for being Firstborn. It seems he opened Ingwë's eyes, and probably not only his. Well done, Alex!

Ha, Anne and Andy? That would be great – and just what I had hoped for, somehow I got the feeling they would fit well together even back in the beginning. What an amusing thing for the two gwedyr if they become brothers legally as well! I'm still waiting/hoping for these two to move to Wiseman, too.

Truly lol'ed reading this chapter. Alex the Mortal putting the High King of the Eldar in his proper place. This chapter truly put a smile on my face. Good to know the mention of the Edain of the First Age being given their proper honour and respect.

Greetings from Malaysia.

What a cool chapter! I think between Olorin's reminder and Alex's "rude" questions, some Elven eyes have been opened.

I just adored Olorin/Gandalf taking out his pipe; I think when he's "Oliver" he's closer to his Gandalf self than his Olorin self, LOL! He made an excellent point: whether there are two hundred or twenty or only two Maiar in Wiseman doesn't matter. The power is there, and whichever Maia is doing the guarding has unimaginable force to command!

And Alex made excellent points. The Elves have to realize that humans have evolved socially, and are not quite the same sorts of peoples that they knew millennia ago. Of course there are those who are not as enlightened as others, but that is only to be expected.

I hope that we will soon get a glimpse of Dave having to deal with the mob of haters.

Sounds like Alex definitely was the right person to serve up some bitter truths for the Elves and get them thinking. And I suspect he was dead right about the cost-benefit analysis too.
I loved how Ingwe finally said that Alex was a most annoying chld and compared him to Glorfindel. Clearly Ingwë is over the immediate shock of seeing Daeron almost die, hopefully the rest of the visit will be less stressful.

"Vala-la-land" ROFLMAO

I really miss Fiondil's answers to everybody's comments.
But there's another thing I am going to miss as well. Somethimes, when surfing the Web, I come across various little things - funny stories, silly pictures, beautiful music videos and so on. And from now on it won't be a matter of "I must see if I can work this into the next review of Fiondil's fic and see what his reaction will be", all the while grinning like a loon. And then, of course, reading his answer.
I'll just leave this here, for the rest of you to enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mmwv94WKmnI

I am so glad that Alex was able to talk some sense into Ingwë! At least, he's beginning to understand that he can't write off all mortals because some of them are bad. Hopefully, he will soon find his way to learn to work with them before he returns to Valinor.

...*thinks President Obama meeting the Elves would be interesting*

[snort] Perhaps that would do him good--if, in fact, anything can!

Well, that's telling the kings, Alex, especially Ingwe. *snort*

Oh, Atya, I can just imagine how much you laughed writing the scenes with Alex and with "Oliver" - I wish I'd told you sometime how much Olorin's new guise amused me, and how "Dr. Grey" just makes me smile. Not Ollie, indeed.

It's good to know all the Mortal men are in custody. But I don't think the women should be discounted - I know poor Dave has little enough room for all of them, but I hope they obey the order not to run. Women are just as capable of heinous acts as men (Madame Defarge and her crew come to mind *shudders* although they're the wrong story. If they have any counterparts in Wiseman...my goodness.)

Another question that has come to mind whenever I see Alex is about Felicity. I know you can't exactly answer me anymore, Atya, so I hope one of your betas can - is Felicity related to Rabbi Cohen? She's Felicity Cohen, isn't she?

Anyway, I'm glad the kings and everyone have decided to stay. Quite intrigued to see just which Mortal leaders they get to meet...*thinks President Obama meeting the Elves would be interesting*

Love from

Kaylee
