Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 14 Review(s)
CelethReviewed Chapter: 105 on 12/29/2014
Oh the poor confused Elfs having a major case of culture shock, and in full view of everyone too. I hope there will be no more such public embarrassments for them for the duration of the tour, or their stay. Well, just enough to shake a few of them off their snobbish pedestals, maybe, but otherwise...

What I'd give to see Glorfindel in a three piece suit!!! Almost as much as what I'd give to see him in warrior mode, I guess. I just adore that ellon.

I'm still looking forward to that chat between Glorfindel and Turgon. I hope it comes soon, because I worry about the ellon. If ever there's a vulnerable link that can play into the Enemy's hands, it might be him. Not that he is actually bad; he's just so immature, and his responses to some situations show it.

Author Reply: That's for sure, Celeth, and yes, in full view of the Mortals, and that has to be the most embarrassing part of all.

Glorfindel in a three-piece suit would be a sight to behold, there's no doubt. For that matter any male elf in a three-piece suit would be a sight.

We will see the chat between Glorfindel and Turgon later after the wedding.

Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

Oh dear! *sigh* I can see a simple sight-seeing tour is a lot more fraught with peril than I expected. Of course none of the Valinoreans have any idea of what fire trucks and sirens are, and I can see how it could be triggering for Turgon. I'm not quite sure why Finrod is angry--I'm sure if he thinks about it, he might have had a similar reaction when he first arrived. And the poor embarrassed guards, taking a fairly normal event for a major threat!

Galadriel needs to be reminded of the mortals she once knew; after all, she was the one who played matchmaker for Arwen and Aragorn! Perhaps a conversation with Legolas somewhere down the line would be useful. She clearly has forgotten some things she once knew.

I got a giggle at the conversation about modern fashion. There are still lots of mortals who don't approve of bikinis!

Quite a busy morning so far...

Author Reply: Hi Dreamflower. Nothing is ever simple where Elves are concerned. LOL! We'll see in the next chapter a discussion between Olórin and Fionwë about Finrod and his reaction to the fire truck incident.

Galadriel, unfortunately, won't be here long enough, but perhaps while she's here she'll remember things she's forgotten about over the ages.

A busy morning indeed and it's not even over yet. *grin*

Thanks for reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.

I love everyones reactions to "Modern America", though the incident with the fire truck was...unfortunate. I suppose its a chance for the locals to see that even the highest and mightiest of Elves aren't quite so perfect as either they, or the mortal residents of Wiseman may have thought. I do hope Turgon is not overly embarrassed by it all, and I am sure that if some of the Mortals understood the "whys and how's" of the situation, they would not find it quite so amusing.

On a less troubling note, in regards to the generational differences discussed concerning the lovely Nell, as someone who would be called on a daily basis by a well-meaning father when she went off to college (I actually started screening my calls), it is--sadly---different for most of us ladies. :-)

see you in 2015!

Author Reply: Hi Sarah. I'm glad you enjoyed the reactions of the Elves and yes the incident with the fire truck was unfortunate, but hopefully the Elves will get over their embarrassment eventually.

And yes, daughters are treated differently than sons, even in this day and age. Luckily for Nell, her dad won't be staying for very long and her uncle has already granted her more freedom than she normally would be allowed back home.

Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it very much.

I love the difference between the cultures.
You balance the serious and humorous parts perfectly.

I just want to know: what kind of Belgian Waffels did Daeron cook? Those from Brussels or from Liege ?
You seem to be interested in Belgium right now, with the child of the Belgian ambasador and now the Waffels :)

Will they go to the police station ? Just imagining the guards' expressions when they see armed people or realize that Liam can have a weapon and not them... (or can he ? I don't remember if he's already allowed to carry a gun or wait till the end of his training.)

The little boy's reaction to the "Elves acting silly" had me laughing aloud (the woman next to me looked strangely at me)

I can't wait for the next chapter,
Ora.

Author Reply: Hi Ora. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter. As for Belgium waffles, I'm afraid here in America there is only the one kind and I have no idea what the difference is between waffles from Brussels and waffles from Liege. And it's just coincidental as to the mention of Belgium in this chapter.

I doubt they will go to the police station, at least not this go around. Legolas isn't quite ready for weapons yet, but he will be soon.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.
