Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 15 Review(s)

Poor Liam can't catch a break. So it is a small, quiet town and he and Lando have already managed to catch a prowler in their first half hour of work. I was chuckling throughout the chapter at some of what we would consider normal things that Liam finds confusing, like the graveyard shift and the ten-codes. And another chase scene. You are getting a workout here taking Liam through the alleys and over the rooftops of Wiseman. I could just see him sprinting down the street after the prowler. Thank goodness the lady was able to avoid hitting them with her car though it probably scared ten years off her life.

I would suggest a good old-fashioned cop tv show if Liam wants to learn the ten-codes and other aspects of police work. Though I have a feeling that he will pick up the procedural aspects of police work quickly, including the paperwork that will have to be done now that the prowler has been arrested.

I did find it interesting at the end that the prowler was complaining because Liam was an elf. Is he part of the group that attacked Glorfindel? It could be revealing if you continue why the perp is so concerned with elves.

Another exciting chapter. Looking forward to seeing what the reaction is going to be at the police station as well as at Edhellond. Glorfindel may want to get a police scanner so he can keep up with what is going on with the Prince.

Author Reply: Hi rikki. Liam is still relatively new to Wiseman so some of the cultural aspects that we take for granted still escape him.

The prowler isn't necessarily part of the group that attacked Glorfindel, just someone who has no use for Elves. Being a criminal, he has no use for anyone except his fence.

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

A good beginning for Officer Prince! But that means that Officer Lopez did not get his hoped-for dull and quiet shift. But I guess it could have been worse, though the day is still young. ;-)
So Legolas' first cop partner's Christian name is Orlando? I wonder just how you found that name! tee-hee. At least the two of them seem to be getting along just fine, and hopefully most of the rest of the cops will be the same.

Author Reply: Hi Sunny. Yes, a very good beginning and I thought "Orlando" apropos. *grin* I'm sure the other cops will get along with Legolas just fine or Michaelson will have something to say about it, you can be sure.

Thanks for leaving a comment. It's appreciated.

Guess even a prince cannot have an easy "first day at work." That second successful chase ought to make Wiseman's crooks think of going somewhere else, but I doubt they are that smart. Great job with the chapter. Also good to know that many of the police officers will welcome Legolas.

Author Reply: Hi UTfrog. I don't think anyone has an easy "first day at work" no matter who they are. *grin* Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Only his first day, and the action has already started! It looks like Officer Prince's training will not take as long as six months.

And I wonder just what the prowler was intending to do? Just his luck indeed, that he went about doing it while the defender of Mirkwood is on duty. After all those orcs, spiders and wargs, this must be peanuts for Legolas; except of course, with the bill of rights and other stuff, dealing with mortal criminals is much more complicated. I bet when the defense lawyers get into the scene Legolas is going to heartily wish that the criminals were just orcs and spiders that he could shoot on sight! I hope one of the Elves considers becoming a lawyer.

A good thing that Michaelson has not asked Legolas to cut his hair so far. I thought short hair was a requirement for those in the police and military force. I can't imagine Legolas without those silky golden locks... on second thought, he would look even smarter and more handsome in uniform haha!!! But what would King Thranduil say if he saw his son with regulation hair cut and wearing a police uniform?

I can't wait for the next chapter. I wish we could have a new chapter each day, but having one twice a week means we will be able to savor the story much longer.

Author Reply: Hi Celeth. We'll see in the next chapter what the prowler was up to. And that's not a bad idea having at least one of the Elves considering becoming a lawyer. I'll have to keep that in mind. *grin*

I think Michaelson knows better than to demand that any Elf cut their hair and as long as it's neatly tied back, I guess it doesn't matter. I'm sure if Thranduil saw his son with short hair and in uniform, he wouldn't recognize him at all.

Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

My favorite quote from this chapter:

"I am a police officer, as well you know, my orclings."

For some reason, it's so sweet that Liam called the Three Amigos "orclings"!

Nice first day as a cop. I only hope there won't be any trouble with the prowler's lawyer, as he was arrested by someone who shouldn't be in the police force officially.

Author Reply: Hi someone. I like that quote as well. It shows that Legolas has a relationship with the Three Amigos, almost as an uncle and they respond in kind. And it could always be claimed that Legolas made a citizen's arrest. As long as his partner reads the prowler's his rights, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
