Elf Academy 3: The Enemy Within  by Fiondil 21 Review(s)

Ah, yes, I remember this chapter. I'm glad you liked the popcorn and drink idea. It has to be fun for the Maiar, and the Valar for that matter, to sit and watch the elves in Wiseman sometimes. There really is an awful lot of drama and an awful lot of attitude simmering in that place. :-)

Author Reply: Hi Ellie. You're right about the Maiar and Valar having fun watching the antics in Wiseman. It's better than the soaps and it's definitely live. LOL! Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate it very much.

Poor Liam, he is going to have a tough go at getting use to not being waited on. At least he isn't being a spoiled child about it all. Also glad he likes being a cop. Granted he just played cop today.

Loved Ron's way of breaking the serious air and defuse it all.

Fionwë and Olórin are having too much fun LOL Glad they are sharing.

Author Reply: Hi Laer. Well, he is a prince after all, but I'm sure he'll adapt to having to do things himself. He's not a total dweeb that way.

Ron has a way with him, that's for sure. I doubt the others appreciate his sense of humor right now but that's neither here nor there.

And the Maiar are indeed having way too much fun right now.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.

Wow, that's even better than I'd hoped! Kind of like an on-the-job apprenticeship. You go, Liam (and Dave, too)! By the time he gets to that training program, he'll be all ready to take on the challenge. There are so many things that could come of this, it's very exciting!

Ah, discovered by the power of social media. Even Elves can't escape it. *grin* Sorry, buddy, we're like sharks scenting blood in the water. Far as I can remember, isn't he the first one to really do something as public and outrageous(ly awesome) like this since the trial Finrod help?

Ron, you rascal. :P You wouldn't have to charge much before you'd be rich, LOL.

This chapter a great way to keep the adrenaline going, showing the fallout - good and well, complicated - from Legolas's actions. It's part of that cohesiveness that always makes your stories so wonderful.

Hmm, can't wait to see why Ron picked those specific people, the pot is boiling and maybe boiling over in the next chapter? I want some of that popcorn. If both of the local Maiar are there to watch, it's gotta be one heck of a show. Love the ending, great way to go out! Too funny.

Hope you have a fantastic fall weekend!
-Kevana

Author Reply: Hi Kevana. I don't think Legolas will end up at the police academy. Dave will see to it that he's certified without it. I'm sure between him and the Maiar, all the necessary strings will be pulled and favors called in to make it happen, but in the meantime, Legolas will receive the same training as the other recruits, just not the physical training that it a necessary part of the program, since he obviously doesn't need it. *grin*

Anyway, this is the first time that any of the Elves had exhibited their power in this fashion. Glorfindel has kept everything low-key up until now but the cat's out of the bag. We'll see how this is handled in the next chapter.

Ron is funny here and we'll see why he picked those specific people to the conference room in the next chapter. It speaks to the respect the others have for him that no one protests when he summarily summons some and dismisses the others. Ron is definitely a force to be reckoned with even to someone like Glorfindel or Finrod.

Thanks for reviewing. Have a great weekend yourself!

Oops! I meant Elladan's question!

Author Reply: I knew what you meant, Edlyn. Thanks for the clarification anyway.

I suspect the answer to Vorondur's question is "Both!" Glorfindel has had a long time to get used to being in charge of the most of the Wiseman Elves. It's hard to adjust to the new status quo. And of course, he'd have loved to been beside Legolas chasing after the bad guys.

I like the idea of Legolas being on the police force. In time, I think that even the anti-Elf party will quiet down when they see the Elves more integrated into the everyday life of the town. Of course, there is the fact that the former Prince of Mirkwood's image is now all over the Internet. The possible consequences of that should be interesting. I suspect that most people will take it as a hoax video but any other Elves out there who see it will know it is real.

I wonder what Gwyn and Gareth will think of it when they see it?

And the ending of the chapter was just priceless! I wish I could draw people better because that scene is just crying out to be illustrated.

Great work, mellon nin!

Edlyn

Author Reply: Hi Edlyn. Yes, I'm sure Glorfindel's answer would be "Both!" to that question, he and probably all the other Elves, Finrod, especially.

I think Legolas will make a great police officer and eventually a detective when he's gone through the procedures to become one, working his way up the ladder. I can even see him eventually becoming the police chief sometime in the future after Michaelson has retired.

As for the chase showing up on the internet, we'll have to see how that goes in the next chapter.

I'm glad you liked the ending. It is pretty priceless, isn't it? *grin*

Thanks for taking the time to review. I appreciate it very much.

Honestly these people should start selling tickets to these confrontations, discussions, counseling sessions,... whatever!

I see Glorfi is in Nana mode again, which I understand, but he does have to realize that they are all Adults, even the Three Amigos and Nell, they all have to fall down and scrape their knees and pick themselves up as it were. It might have been better had he mentioned it to either Glorfi or Finrod, but that is beside the point, the Elves are out of the closet and in a big way!

Now to figure out how to deal with it.

Pulls up a chair and joins Olorin and Fionwe at the table, grabs a handful of pop corn and starts sipping on a tall glass of Angry Orchard cider, waits for show to start!

Huggs,
Lynda

Author Reply: Hi Lynda. Yeah, the could sell tickets and make a killing. LOL!

Glorfindel's under lots of pressure and that will have consequences. He's worried about the upcoming elections and what that may portend for the Elves and of course he has Elf Academy to deal with and setting up training programs for the Dagor Dagorath and a host of other concerns and Legolas' little stunt isn't helping matters.

And you're right that the Elves with their particular abilities and powers are out of the closet big time.

Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Snork!

Kudos, indeed, for a perfect chapter ending. Glad I didn't have a mouthful of tea at that moment...

Author Reply: I'm glad you enjoyed the ending Lindelea. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it.

Oh I just bet the Fionwe and Olorin came prepared...I bet it was their Masters who orchestrated it all - or well, as they keep insisting, they took advantage of the situation for their own purposes. Poor Glorfindel doesn't stand a chance this time. Elladan is right, they have been encouraging the Valinorean Elves to get out there and learn to live with 21st century mortals. It's just that Glorfindel as their original leader feels too protective over them and seems to have a hard time letting go. Not that I can blame him.

I can't wait for the interview/chat to start. It should be interesting.

Oh, and with all that excitement I forgot to congratulate the newest recruit of WPD. I look forward to reading about the exploits of an Elf - and a prince at that - in the police force (hoping to find a thick book in my Christmas stocking entitled How Prince Legolas Became Chief of Police in Wiseman, Alaska or something like that...or forget about the Christmas stocking, any website will do hahaha)

Happy weekend!

Author Reply: Hi Celeth. I wouldn't be surprised if the Valar had a hand in all this either. Glorfindel is probably feeling torn, wanting to control the fallout and wishing he'd been there to help. We'll see how the chat goes in the next chapter. As for your Christmas wish.... hmmm... *grin*

Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

Oh dear. I had completely forgotten smart phones. They need now to convince everyone that Legolas is just a person who really likes gymnastics and doesn't weight much. And do you know what is funny? Just now the Tolkien quote on the frontpage is Legolas going running on Caradhras! *grin*

Poor Legolas though, he will not be able to do anything visible, ever, if the videos show his face. It is not easy to be immortal in the time of Internet.

Author Reply: Hi someone. That is funny about the Tolkien quote. Very apropos.

You're right that it's not easy being immortal in the time of cameras and the internet. We'll see how it all works out in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Good thing Legolas is not going to be issued weapons yet. He may be an expert with a bow and arrow, but he's had no experience with firearms.

Author Reply: Hi KathyG. You're right there, but he's a quick learner, our Legolas, so I'm sure he'll be weapons-certified in no time. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.
