Ah, I see--not precisely the most supportive of mothers-in-law!

"What will the neighbors say if the people next door are blue?"

Author Reply: "Hey look! Smurfs!"

LOL

Ah, but she's definitely courting him in her way. And, no--those mushrooms aren't particularly safe.

Author Reply: I've read that violating a fairy ring can cause anything from curses to pimples. Or being poisoned, if one is fool enough to eat the mushrooms. And she'll have to earn Frodo's trust back in one way or another!

An excellent point! Yes, she's shown as much curiosity as he! Like mother, like son?

Author Reply: Most definitely...except that his curiosity and hers are quite different: he is a thinker, while I've a feeling she's a bit of a busybody! lol Thanks so much for your comments Larner!

Ah, bless the old Hobbit for his love for his lad. What love will do is marvelous!

Author Reply: It is, isn't it!

No, he's been enchanted, and now she, too, is under Petal's spell.

Author Reply: Yet I'm wondering if she'll be a sort of hobbit Endora...I've a feeling Petal is in for a few mother-in-law troubles, and what she'll end up doing about it. Time and the muse will tell!

She does not wish to lose Frodo's regard, obviously. Poor lad.

(Although Frodo's parents died a few years before Merry was born.)

Author Reply: Ouch........usually I look up these things, but this time I was relying on memory....oh well.

So, her fingers circled like that form a living fairy stone that serves her Took as a magnifying glass/microscope, eh? Interesting indeed!

Author Reply: She knows there's more to wooing this Took than just looking beautiful and dancing in the moonlight...not that those activities hurt her cause or anything! But being his key to unlocking the mysteries of the natural world he longs to discover is definitely the first step in the pathway to his heart....

An excellent question; although from her point of view she did her duty--no harm befell Frodo physically, at least.

Oh, dear--caught in mid-grumble, is he? Heh! And it gets worse--from a fairy point of view, that is?

Author Reply: Most definitely. Butternut is a young 'un still...and as the song goes, he ain't seen nuthin' yet! lol

Now, this has me giggling! Yes, he'd best explain that point to Petal--although she's likely to fetch him a wallop to the side of his head for it!

Author Reply: He'd have it coming to him, but I think she'd be more likely to just laugh at him. I did post a picture I found on LJ that looked like my idea of him...and I have to admit, he IS rather alluring, at that....;) Don't you hate it when you end up liking the villain better than the hero...lol
