What i really loved from this chapter was Frodo's thoughts as he wandered, before finding Gandalf.
'Hobbits were not meant to carry the weight of the world. It was too big and he was too small.'
That was beautiful, so poignant. It says so much of what Frodo goes through. And this is even before they leave Rivendell...
And then...
'The hobbit took one miserable step forward... One step for Merry... For Pippin. ... He would walk for them—his dearest friends... for the Shire... for those who had hope—even though he was not one of them.'

That was just so touching, so telling of Frodo's bravery - and his motivation. He did it all for them, even losing the Shire, as he did in the end.

Wonderful writing!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
bryn, you're killing me here, you know? I was so glad I was reading this on my lunch hour (boring job answering phones, so I read at work!) because I was just laughing out loud at this point. The image of the squirrels and spiders running after each other, completely ignoring the floundering elves (a ridiculous image itself) and an irate dwarf (beardless) was too, too much. But the image of Legolas pulled up by the scruff of his neck by Thranduil, ooooh, that was something. They're in for it now!!!

Locked up by an Elven lord/Til he began to mould...

*monica is glad she prints out her stories or her keyboard would be fried*
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh, that was it! That was just... *gasp* too much! *gasp* *monica trails off into giggles as she thinks about Elrond finishing the song for Merry*

I'll try again when I can breath...

"lasta berta nin hilo jigger thingy woooo"
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahh, *wipes tears from eyes* that was too funny. And Shadowfax, I never knew he had such an attitude (smirk)! He just about killed me when he decided Gandalf was a madman. Served him right for Gandalf to take the Elven mare. hmph!

I like how you describe their way of making arrows, making sure they are flawless. That sounds very like them.
I don't suppose if I were in their place, I would have thrown a few rocks at Boromir too.
Very good chapter.

Ah, so Boromir has got a girlfriend after all.
I like the explanation for 'The Singing Mumuk' and "Hog's Head'. I would never have thought something like that.
(And Legolas' nickname is oh so appropriate.)

So Shadowfax has a mirror in his stable, that's too funny. The King of the Mearas gets what he deserves by bloating and welting. (Perhaps it will deflate his head a bit? Maybe not.)
The drama with Frodo and co. was ingenious;

“Two against one, Mister Frodo.” Sam’s face grew grim as he squinted into the sky. “And this isn’t about just us hobbits anymore. It’s a lot bigger than that. We’ve got everyone in Middle-earth to look out for, too.”

Yes, yes. I've been out of the reviewing mode for a while. And probably to your dismay, I am out of it.
I was very worried and wondering how you were going to get Boromir out of this one!
A bit of your one history on Legolas' family is very interesting. I like his brothers. Heh-heh..

Several women may have fainted at Boromir's fish impresion, but I cracked up.
And I thought I was the only one who liked 'Boz'.
